Hey whizkid - I'll save you a seat in T-town on the 25th!

With 4 returning seniors and the addition of senior Fallon Blackburn from Moore County and the sophomore PG with a year experince under her belt as a varsity player - in my opinion it will be a much better year for Tullahoma.

Yes, the girl from Lynchburg should hepl. I'm not sure the commitment is there. Coach Snipes is a good man, and Coach Mathis is a deicated AD who does everything he can to help the program. T-Town has difficulty getting the best players for girls basketball. My opinion is that they haven't had the commitment since Tommy Whittaker coached there many years ago. Good luck this year, hopefully, this will be a breakthrough year for the Lady Wildcats.

Last 8 yrs, heck, Shelbyville has been the team to beat for the past 21 yrs.

Just courious, can anyone name the players on a Rick Insell championship team that was made up of all "local" players. You know, girls who went to elementary school in a feeder school for Shelbyville Central High School.

It sure would be nice to know that Insell can do it with "local" talent. I would settle for a local starting 5.

my sentiments exactly buick, the 2 years he had shelbyville players were those 2 bad years, truth hurts doesnt it rick? its sad really, he tries to do anything possible to win or run it up against teams that he feels threatened by(ex: oakland and lawrence co) but dont worry rick, since grandstaff is now back u can be as paranoid as ever now ;)

i will concede that insell is a good coach, not great. i mean i could wins countless state championships with the talent he gets. lets see him try his hand in college, or even d2 for that matter, where there is a level field, lets see how he does then, not so good i am willing to bet

What's the difference between "good" and "great"? Both seem pretty subjective to me. I know Insell personally and I know personally a BUNCH of other coaches in this area. Whether he is good or great I don't know. I do know that he works harder than most. Insell is always "selling" his program to anyone who'll listen. He is positive ALL THE TIME....and that spreads to his players and the community. More of his players get college scholarships than any where else I know of in this area. The biggest reason is that he "sells/promotes" his girls to college recruiters. Very few coaches work harder at getting scholarships for their players than Insell. In the midst of all that, he has as much discipline on his team as any you'll find.

Does all that amount to "recruiting"? You bet it does! If I had a daughter who had the talent, he wouldn't have to seek her out, I'd be seeking him out.

As far as you or anyone else winning "countless state championships with the talent he gets," that is easy to say, but hard to prove.

BTW, I am not from Shelbyville, nor do I have a daughter who has ever played there, but I do believe in giving credit where credit is due. His girls beat ours regularly, but that's not his fault. I just wonder why our program doesn't "attract" the same quality players as his. Must have something to do with the work and dedication of the folks who run the program.

I would have liked my daughter to have played for Coach Insell. He is a hard worker and he makes the girls work hard. He also knows when to pat them on the back. Coach Insell will do almost anything to help the girls after the've played for him. His girls also respects him. When my daughter played high school, he would encourage her and give her tips. If you hustle and work hard, you'll get along fine with Coach Insell.

Wow...this is such a great forum...I love all these Tullahoma fans that are hatin on Shelbyville cause they take all of Tullahoma's prospects..lol We here in Mo'County dont have to worry bout losing any of our prospects, cause we dont have any haha Even with the addition of Fallon, it's goin to be tough for Tullahoma to regain it's status in the district with all those tough teams. Dont'get me wrong they have the talent and ability just as anybody else, and yes the little sophomore point guard is good...lol BasketballMom11(even though I can beat her) hehe, but they need alot more than good luck to get anywhere... But hey what do I know, I dont play in that district or even for a girls team, so oh well just my opinion...Have great day...

    • Sorry Barn. I wasn’t specific enough. It seems I’m always protecting the principal at 825. My interactions with her have been extremely positive, but very limited. With all the other stories being told, I’m confident there are other sides I am not aware of. Regardless, there are lots of decent people earning good checks up there. Maybe too good, which explains why no one is willing to speak up. My beef is with the poor communication among the athletic programs and with the administration. Seven years ago the poor communication led to my son missing graduation due to a sporting event that was planned months before. I chalked it up to the system being totally shocked that the baseball team made it out of their district, and our then AD was a football coach. Maybe they were surprised and did not plan appropriately. That was more palatable than they just didn’t give a crap. Déjà vu, seven years later, same thing. Different administration, but same result.  Maybe in seven more years, it will actually be “about the kids”. They should do better.
    • That's a fair line. But if it's not over, that's a big problem.
    • RR, you think that changes this year, or at least improves? I know they had a couple of talented young receivers last year that made some plays later in the year. Defensive back was a struggle against any team that was above average at throwing the ball.
    • You would think they got a bunch of interest
    • You would think with football just three months away more would be talking. There's only so much a person can say about someone allowing the field to get painted without asking their boss who would have said ((((((((  ALE NO ))))))))) or all the other BULLS#!T they've done as they lead Maryville High into the new age of WOKE in a conversative town. I'm ready for some football news without hearing something coming out of 825 that Power Munger has done to cap off the week.
