sly
Who's the favorites.....Soddy, Franklin and Clarksville? What are the top potential match ups for individuals at this tourney? Edited January 8, 2004 by sly
best_of_the_west
Here's some kids to watch: 103 McCroskey (SD)-#1 in D1 Shelton (Kenwood)-#4 in D1, #2 at Ryan Alsobrook (CBHS)-#6 in D2 Tayar (Overton)-#4 at Ryan 112 Coleman (Cleve.)-#1 in D1 Ortiz (Frank.)-#2 in D1, #2 at Ryan Pair (Page)-#4 in D1 Baucke (CBHS)-#3 in D2 Shumate (Kenwood)-#7 at Ryan Johnson (Ft. Camp.)-#6 in Kentucky 119 Warfield (Frank.)-#2 in D1 (maybe out with shoulder) Sullivan (Cooke.)-#3 in D1 Cox (Kenwood)-#6 in D1 @ 125, #2 at Ryan Allen (Ross.)-#5 at Ryan Martin (Ft. Camp.)-#7 in Kentucky 125 James (SD)-#1 in D1 Ibrahim (Overton)-#2 in D1, #2 at Ryan (maybe at 119) Ramos (Cleve.)-#4 in D1 Gibson (Clarks.)-#8 at Ryan Mines (Ft. Camp.)-#5 in Kentucky 130 Boyce (Cooke.)-#1 in D1 Jennings (Overton)-#6 in D1, #6 at Ryan Holliman (Brent.)-#1 at Ryan Cox (Kenwood)-#7 at Ryan 135 Lane (SD)-#1 in D1 Riddle (CBHS)-#5 in D2 Chamberlain (Brent.)-#7 at Ryan Brown (Pope)-#2 in Georgia last year, lost to Lukacs of Collins Hill 5-0, can't say he'll be there for sure, because I couldn't find out too much about him 140 Proctor (Cooke.)-#3 in D1 Rohally (Kenwood)-#4 in D1 Konz (Frank.)-#4 in D1 @ 152, #7 at Ryan Cannon (Ross.)-#8 at Ryan 145 Davis (Frank.)-#1 in D1, #2 at Ryan Sanders (Mont. Marable (CBHS)-#2 in D1 Hebda (Clarks.)-#7 at Ryan 160 Johnson (Anti.)-#4 in D1 Williams (Black.)-#6 in D1 Velasco (CBHS)-#1 in D2 Minwell (Clarks.)-#4 at Ryan Davis (Overton)-#6 at Ryan 171 Weakley (Clarks.)-#3 in D1, #3 at Ryan Garza (Kenwood)-#4 in D1, #6 at Ryan Simpson (CBHS)-#1 in D2 Martin (Overton)-#8 at Ryan 189 Campbell (SD)-#1 in D1 Meridith (Black.)-#3 in D1 Pease (Clarks.)-#5 in D1, #1 at Ryan Inman (Smyrna)-#6 in D1 M. Marable (CBHS)-#1 in D2 Raby (Frank.)-#4 at Ryan 215 Henderson (SD)-#5 in D1 Block (Clarks.)-#6 in D1 Saint (CBHS)-#2 in D2 Rouse (Ross.)-#4 at Ryan Hayes (Overton)-#6 at Ryan 275 Bates (Cooke.)-#2 in D1 Campbell (CBHS)-#5 in D2 Jones (Clarks.)-#2 at Ryan Williams (Northeast)-#4 at Ryan Slowley (Brentwood)-#6 at Ryan Swinney (Overton)-#7 at Ryan Clark (Ft. Camp.)-#7 in Kentucky Well, these are all of the kids who were ranked by Matman as of 12/23 or who placed at the Father Ryan tournament. For what it's worth, here are my finals predictions. These are, of course, depending on seedings. 103-McCroskey over Shelton 112-Coleman over Ortiz (could be the best match at the tourney) 119-Cox over Sullivan (if Warfield is still out) 125-James over Ibrahim 130-Boyce over Holliman 135-Lane over Brown (I've never seen Brown) 140-Konz over Proctor 145-Davis over Sanders (another great match) 152-N. Marable over Gessler (N. Marable gets OW) 160-Johnson over Williams 171-Weakley over Simpson 189-M. Marable over Campbell 215-Saint over Henderson 275-Bates over Jones For teams I'll go with Soddy in first, followed by CBHS, Franklin, etc.
wrestlerguy
I heard Ortiz already beat coleman. Something like 8 - 5. Kyle James most definetly will get OW. It will be an awsome tourney. Edited January 8, 2004 by wrestlerguy
reftn
Best.. Incredible research. Maybe you could submit some articles to City Paper and the Tennessean. Thanks for your efforts. reftn
lovetowrestle
BOTW, I do agree excellent research, and you should look into sending some information to the Nashville City Paper, or the much hated Tennessean.
fwc00
are there any open spots for more teams?
delaWarr
BOTW, I join the others in thanking you for the individual info. It is a tremendous resource for helping us fans follow the action. jg etc, Appreciate your team listing. Good to see Cleveland back in the mix. Unless a team slipped past unnoticed during the past couple of years, CBHS may be the first team from Memphis entered in the tournament in almost twenty years. CBHS is also the last team from Memphis to have entered the tournament. Christian Brothers, coached by Armand Aaron, bested Overton for the championship one year during the mid-eighties. (Did Tom Marable wrestle for Pirani or Aaron or both?) Memphis teams also won one other tournament when Bishop Byrne tied Raleigh-Egypt for the championship one year during the last half of the 1970s. The tournament this year has the makings of one of the tightest races for the championship since (I think) '97 when Bradley pulled off a close win over Mater Dei. papbear3
Tom wrestled for Frank Ferrugia, Armand Aaron was the assistant. Tom graduated in 1982, his brother, Chris, also a 2x state champion, graduated in 1985. I cannot find any information about CBHS participating in this tournament before........was it called something before? Has it always been at Brentwood???
