shotmaker
I was just wondering why schools like Huntingdon and Dresden where Single A in Basketball and Double A in Football ?
Froggy
There are 5 classifications in football and only 3 in every other sport. I would say they are probably one of the smaller AA teams in football and fall into the "A" classification for other sports.
Antwan
I was just wondering why schools like Huntingdon and Dresden where Single A in Basketball and Double A in Football ? There are 5 classes on football...and 3 in basketball. Several small 2a football schools are A in basketball. About 17 or so schools fall into that category. benround75
i think that is a stupid rule...they just do that so some of the weaker football teams can win more games...they should have the same classification for football AND basketball... muffin
Makes sense.
dcballas
Because if they were 2A they wouldn't be able to convince Carrol Academy to play them!
hillado14
because the same reason gibson co is 3A in foot ball and 2A in basketball and baseball
benround75
it's just stupid...whoever thought of that was just tired of their team losing all of the time....you should be the same in both sports....that's only fair...
milan57
One of the arguments for not having as many classifications in b-ball as in football is that you play more games in b-ball. For example, Henry County is a 5-A in football. There aren't many 5-A schools near them. Their away games take them to Clarksville or Nashville. That's okay on a Friday night. But, that would create problems with a Tuesday night basketball game with school the next day. I don't necessarialy agree with the classification arrangement, but that's what I have been told. spanarkle
Henry County still travels in basketball to Ashland City, Dickson and points east. You would figure that 5 classes or even four in basketball would make the TSSAA another COUPLE of BUCKS!
kennyc
Right! Let's all look for way that the TSSAA can make s'more $!
TdTbb
Spanarkle ...You are right, however, TSSAA does not have the backing of the majority of the school. Typically A schools want to stay A schools. Alcoa is or should be in this same situation A in basketball and AA in football, however, they have moved up in class for basketball to AA for mainly there reasons...two being money...less travel in AA than A (not very many A scohools close by) Travel is an expense for a small school. The second money reason, with Alcoa, AE and Fulton bring a much bigger gate. Finally, the competition is better day in and day out. With 385 students, Alcoa is palying much bigger schools...but miney talks. If you don't like where your at, TSSAA will allow you to move up.
