  1. I didn't realize that you have been to all of Anna's games to analyze her high school career. Sounds like there was some jealousy on your part. Who had a clue that people were comparing her to breaking Ashleys record. I sure never said or thought a thing about that cause I didn't even know she had the record or what it was. I'm not going to defend every game of hers to you but I will tell you when we played you last year was probably THE worst game for her. She was very nervous about knowing before hand that a D1 scout was there watching her. Go figure. Not an excuse, just a fact. Were you there when we played AA and she scored double digits most of the time against teams like Lexington, Milan and others(when their starters were STILL in the game!) Oh and yeah, ask your own coaches in your district. Their STARTERS didnt stop her. No one can diminish the great career she has had and will have the next 4 years. A recruiter from the Lady Vols came and scouted her more than once. Sounds like she's a ball player. Anna will be like some of the players you might know. She has every bit of her education paid for doing what she loves, living 5 minutes away from home, and then she'll get a job just like you and me. Oh, and I forgot, Anna's points came from 9th grade through 12th. She didn't get to count her 8th grade year since we have a separate middle school and high school. That might help even things out in your mind. This is my last post because my child doesn t need me to defend her and I hope that if you have a kid that plays ball you'll think twice about telling things that you don't know first hand. Gossip is a waste of time.
  2. I don't know sam jones, greenfield man, west tn..., or anybody else that posts on Coach t. But I do know Anna very well and she's a GREAT basketball player from McKenzie. I have read some of these posts and some of you don't know anything that you're trying to talk about. Anna has scored over 2150 pts in her high school career which would be a record at a lot of schools including McKenzie. We are not as fortunate as some places to have a team with lots of depth. But I guarantee you she is a team player who is humble and just wants to play the game. Ask any coach around that we've played and they all speak highly of her ability. To the Gleason guys who were posting-Anna had over 20 points against your starters and stole the ball 2 or 3 times and scored when you were trying to hold the ball on offense. Yes, Kayla and Riley and the other girls on Gleason are very good ball players and I have the greatest respect for Coach Frazier. But I am losing respect for some of the gleason fans because of your conversations. And let me say for the record, good luck to Kayla at Union. She wanted to stay close to home and so did Anna. Family, friends and her church were the main reasons she chose to stay close. Bethel might suprise some of you doubters next year. They have recruited several top notch players from the area including my daughter. Last but not least, lots of things were in the newspapers regarding Anna and her achievements but nobody we know put those articles in the paper. Nor did Anna know that they would stop the game and make a big deal over her 2,000 pts. But you know what ?? It is a big deal!!But she would also trade it for wins for her team but that just didn't happen. I hope this settles issues that some of you had about my child. I am glad she doesn't care anything about the gossip on Coach t. And if you check the Mck. papers you'll find lots of articles on Kayla and her team. I don't think she had those put in the paper either. Oh by the way--Have a great day!
  3. . After watching the Shelbyville - Riverdale game a couple of weeks ago, I promise you got a better shot against Riverdale rather than Shelbyville. Good luck to all teams though the rest of the way.
  4. backinthaoc, were you at the Union city game or one of the others you're reporting on? If you're a union city fan, we want to complement the etiquette of your fans. Even though a loss hurts, it means a lot to see and hear lots of union city fans and even the coach coming up to #25 with all kinds of compliments that really makes a player feel good. And she is a real player and deserves all the recognition she gets. Just wish we could have won. I know she wanted the win bad. The game seemed closer than the score indicates. Good luck in the rest of the tournament and thanks again for showing what class you have.
  5. Are the teams that lose out at that point or is there a losers bracket?
  6. I don't know Laken or even where she plays, but I do know a senior player from Mckenzie, Tn that has scored 2123 pts in her career and they are starting the region tournament tomorrow. We may play only one game but who knows? Either way that is a tremendous record for her and her school. She played some as a freshman but did not start until the last 8 games of her freshman year when an upperclassmate got hurt. Our school does not usually start freshman that I am aware of but she is a special player that sees the floor, rebounds, consistent from the 3 pt. line and free throw line. She avg. 24.8 pts, 6.8 reb, and 3.4 assists per game this year. If she had had the opportunity to help our varsity in the 8th grade no telling where her point total might be. She has set all kinds of scoring records at McKenzie High School. Plus, she is very unselfish. Anna Trull is one of the best all around players in Tenn. and teams come in with a plan to try to stop her. (It usually doesn't work.) Congrats to Laken and all others that are setting records. They should be congratulated!
  7. Wow, what a great night for Anna. First of all, she was elected the Homecoming Queen prior to the game. There was a big crowd supporting her because she was only 15 points away from 2000. Then, at the beginning the second quarter she was fouled. Her first free throw was her 2000th point, plus she is the all-time leading scorer in McKenzie school history and the season's not over yet. What an honor!
  8. Nobody that I know is jealous of Gleason and nobody that I know is "trying to stir up something". Too bad people think the worst from simple and honest questions and comments. I thought that's what Coach t is all about. Sorry if you think there is some kind of hidden agenda by asking. Maybe your wearing your feelings too much on your sleeve. Shows some insecurity on your part. But...I hope West Tn teams get all the way to state and win it there, Gleason or anybody else from around here. I would hope that if Gleason does happen to have a bad night that you would want whoever from West Tn to win it all too.
  9. Your comments are pretty tacky and I'm not going to stoop to your level. My comments about developing talent or not is talking about individuals, not any certain team or certain sports. I don't know where you're from but I can be pretty sure from your comments that there are some people in your town, team, whatever that don't work as hard as others. I know there are players in mckenzie that work plenty hard. Where are you from anyway? You don't even know what your talking about when it comes to sports in Mckenzie. Take care of your own team>They may not be developing as much talent as you think they are.
  10. Mckenzie does play Gleason - in basketball and football. And you can believe that we want to beat them. We might not but we're gonna give it our best shot. I bet your team hasn't beaten them either. They are undefeated. There must be a lot of teams out there that they have beaten. Talent is the natural ability somebody might have. And yes it takes a lot of work to develop that talent. Some are willing to do it and some are not.
  11. Mediocrity is not ok. But just like every team you do the best with what talent you have. Some years you might have a lot of talent and some years you might have a little. Everyone should give 100% from the players to the coaches and when you do that you've done all you can do. You compete in every single game and you give your all in every single practice. In the end you can be proud of what you have accomplished whether its the state, the region, or even the district. Whether you're a part of Gleason, McKenzie, Westview, Milan or anywhere else.
  12. First of all - I am not downing Gleason at all. They are very fundamental and I think they have one of the best, if not THE best coaches I have ever seen. I was just asking an honest question when you gave the stats of 9 out of 17 times they advanced past the region. Sorry if you took offense at that. Your're right about Mckenzie. Just as with Gleason, how far you go in the postseason does NOT mean you don't have talented basketball players. We have some great talent at McKenzie in all our sports programs. Know what else? We may "hiccup" but we give it our best TOO! But we're a football town and your're a girls basketball town. Just the way it is> Sorry, not DT
  13. Westtnfan, Just curious--- In the last four years how many times has this team played beyond the region tourney? How bout the last five cause these seniors have played for five years on varsity since their campus is the same. Lots of schools don't have that opportunity since jr high and high schools are indifferent locations.
  14. When it comes to the post season Gleason seems to always have a "hiccup" in the region. Especially since they didn't even make it out of the region last year. I think Greenfield is more battle tested and will pull it out in the end. Good luck! Of course, anything can happen!
  15. At what point did Gleason get beat last year in the postseason? Is this year's team weaker or stronger? I've noticed you seem to be their #1 fan on here.
  16. If you wouldn't count out West Carroll and Bruceton may be a "sleeper" then why wouldn't you consider Mckenzie? Lady Rebels beat both of those teams. In fact, Mckenzie might surprise some by the time district and region tournaments roll around.
  17. Mckenzie lady rebels got 2 big wins in this tournament. MHS defeated Franklin High School 64 - 54. Anna Trull led with 34 points and 10 rebounds; Zana Carter scored 10 points. Tonight Lady rebels beat Riverside in a close one; 49 - 48. Trull led all scorers again with 20 points and 7 rebounds. Carter had 12 points. This should give the lady rebels some confidence because they had lost several close games. Trull is a very talented player and it showed during this tournament. GO LADY REBELS!!!
  18. scotts hill seems to be very well coached. they played like they had scouted our team pretty well. Everytime Anna Trull touched the ball there were 2 and sometimes 3 players all over her. She was lucky to have her 13 pts. We probably could not have won that game but there were calls that really should have gone our way and they didn't. That's the way it goes sometimes. We don't play lexington anymore but we know several players still there and they have a good team. Might be a really close game. We also like Lexington's girls coach so it's probably up for grabs.
  19. We think that Coffman is definitely one of the best coaches we've ever played for. He knows what he's doing coaching girls and we love him!!! Good luck to dyersburg this season.
  20. too bad all coaches don't think like you. Some of these girls may have offers already. Like Anna Trull; she's got at least 3 offers for full rides in NAIA and just hasn't made up her mind yet. Other girls might be waiting to see what comes along their senior season. But I know some coaches are more involved in recruiting than others. Hope your team appreciates you.
  21. Little Joe, When I see your posts about Kayla, it sounds like you might be one of her parents. Are you the mom or dad or stepmom? If you are then I know you and would like to talk to you sometime. Good luck this season--from a mckenzie fan!
  22. Greenfield beats Mckenzie in overtime 57 - 53. It was a hard fought game with TERRIBLE officiating!!! Greenfield has more depth than the rebels and it showed.Jill Taylor hit 4 3's in the game and Anna Trull had 7 assists, 5 steals, and 5 reb. to go along with her 11 points. She is a heck of a player who gives 100% all the time. Wonder who she'll sign with???
  23. The rebels did have a great season this year and they should be proud. You have kids that are committed to working hard at MHS in all the sports; basketball, track, baseball, softball. There are some very talented, hard working girls and guys that deserve support and recognition. I like football as well as anyone else. But I also know that a lot of the crowd, like the maniacs, etc. are players on different sports. Why not all you football supporters come on out and support basketball for the next few months?? Try it, you might like it!! And even if you don't, why not support the kids who supported your kid!
  24. mckenzie beat callaway county (KY) 41 - 40. Callaway county had some tall post players. even though mckenzie doesn't have heighth they made up for it in other ways. anna trull had 19 or 20 of their points for mckenzie. good first game scrimmage.
