How is the Morgan Co. Jr. High Tournament in the brackets? Where are they played? Who will win it this year?

Petros Joyner boys will win. I dont know about Girls. Who is this...

The tournament will be played at Coalfield, beginning early Sat. evening.

The Coalfield girls open up with Petros-Joyner, and the Coalfield boys open with Oakdale. Those are the only two first round matchups that I know for sure.

The match-up tonight between Wartburg and Oakdale girls will set the 1st and 2nd place team. Sunbright is 3rd will play either Wartburg or Oakdale Saturday at 7:00.

Well..it looks like Wartburg took the 1st seed thanks in part to their 1pt victory over Oakdale tonight.

 

That means I get to ref the following two games at 7 & 8 Saturday night:

7pm Oakdale vs Sunbright (G)

8pm Wartburg vs. Sunbright (

Wartburg girls looked impressive at Oakdale last night and came away with a 47-38 win for the #1 seed. Should be a very interesting girls tournament. One very good team between Oakdale and Sunbright won't even make the championships since they play each other as the #2 and #3 seeds.

How did Sunbright and Oakdale games come out during the reg. season? Is all of the Sunbright girls playing?

Sunbright and Oakdal split, and the Lady Tigers are healthy coming into the tournament.

What's the reasoning (other than that they may have traditionally done it the same way) behind a #2 team having to play a #3 team in the opening round?

Shouldn't #2 be rewarded by playing the #5 seed, with the #3 having to play the

#4 seed, and of course the #1 seed receiving a first round bye???

That way, if the brackets are drawn up correctly, the #1, #2, AND #3 seeds could all still be alive after the opening round. #1 by virtue of the bye, #2 by virtue of a win over #5, and #3 by virtue of a win over #4.

It really DOES stink that either the Oakdale or Sunbright girls will be eliminated from championship play after the opening round and delegated to a mere consolation game for third place.

The way it is, the fourth and fifth seeds are rewarded more so than the teams that finished second and third. Go figure...(scratching head)

I dont know about the boys,but on the girls side,Oakdale all the way for my pick! You can't stop the young and last but not least Ruppe! Oakdale girls play well together,and I think they got this one if they play hard and little Ruppe has a good game.
