Hey Simpleman these freshmen may the best offensive freshmen in the state because they play ME ball. I think what the thread was asking for is for an all around player. They do not play defense at all. And remember defense wins champsionships. I saw them play at the WVHS game and neither played defense but were not shy to shoot.

John Garrett has adjusted rapidly to a much tougher level of basketball, and has developed into what BA needs so badly -- an effective shooter and zone penetrator. The Fresh Eagles -- that is, BA's freshmen -- have explosive potential, with Garrett, Bill Kottas, and Brian Wright earning substantial playing time along with Besch (though I'm not too familiar with him). The future is radiant on the south side of Granny White.

Jewan "Red" Long of Liberty is averaging about 10 points a game and if he had a better outside shot he would be the best freshman in the state. Last year in the West TN. Middle School Regional Championship. We were down 19 points at halftime to Raleigh Egypt the state champs. We went in the locker room and got a motivational talk from our assistant coach. We Jackson Middle School and Raleigh Egypt were both undefeated so you know it had to be pretty emotional in the locker room. So we came out at the start of the third quarter they had a 19 point lead. By the time the third quarter was over we were up by 2. But Jewan Long outplayed Maurice Miller in every aspect of the game that night. Raleigh Egypt ended up beating us by 4 points but Jewan Long took over the game in the second half so I don't see why he is not on the list gomab.
