TDArtist
Sullivan South would be a great addition to this region. We need more schools. Also, Volunteer has been asking around about how to get mats, etc. Let's try to encourage those schools by giving them all the help they need to get started. Drem2Achev - get them in touch with the AAU teams (Kingsport, Johnson City, and Sullivan East) and freestyle teams (Johnson City for sure) so that kids that are interested can get a head start. The more the merrier. Also, Scott Solomon has done a great job getting a new team at West Greene off to a running start. New teams may want to contact him for advice. ie3
yes ie3 zack is seeded he finished the year 25-7 and beat two wrestlers later in the year he beat him early in the season. thats pretty good for a 14 year old freshman at 189. they are alot of good freshman out there but alot of them are 15 or 16 that makes a big differance at there age. I've been keeping a eye out in the papers and the boards for news, just haven't been able to get the info! Kim Richardson has been doing some great stories on the Betsy Wrestlers, just waiting on one about my favorite! Hope everything goes great for you, him, and all the Cyclones! tnsmokediver
Are Potter and Robbins both freshmen? Also....thanks to the Coaches of Region 1 for honoring all of our retired coaches before the finals. It's was very cool to see all the coaches who were around when I wrestled in one spot at the same time again. We owe these guys alot of credit for developing our sport to what it is today. Thank You! ArtusCimber
Look out for Bo Usary. With the exception of pure physical power, at this point in his career he's better than the best kid I've ever coached in every other aspect of wrestling, especially mentally. That kid was Waylon Lowe.
Drem2Achev
cimber he is tough he proved he is ready to step up to the next level on sat. nite that was a dominating performance against a real good kid. get you a medal bo good luck from region 1. robins an potter are both freshman potter is still 14 i heard at the gym robbins is a little older but still a freshman quite an accomlishment for both in there first varsity season both have made vast improvement over the season. it could have went either way. in the last 6 state championships there have only been about 10 freshman make to the show @ 171 189 215 275 so for both of these kids to make now says they may very well be like that crop of 215s from a few years ago gut anderson jason riddle justin fair 6 state medals between them over 3 years . good luck to both next week work for what you want. Drem2Achev
as artimuscimber said about usary this is a young kid with mental toughness in talking to some of potters teammates the other nite found out he has a broke ring finger it was taped a broke nose which was done in the semis and he had a 101.8 fever for the finals the kid was a walking desaster still made no excuses except he should have worked harder to win the match in regulation. this demonstraits tremendous amount of mental ability. for a freshman good luck region 1 it was good to see alot of the old coaches ther that was a good thing they did for them with out them the sport would not be at the level it is in our region. they laid alot of ground work thaks to them all.
