Team points scored by each region:

Region 3.....394.5

Region 5.....387.5

Region 7.....357.5

Region 4.....276

Region 8.....274.5

Region 2.....261.5

Region 6.....261.5

Region 1.....161.5

Note of interest: Regions 2 and 6 teams scored identical number of points.

Traditional geo-area team points scored:

Middle Tennessee (Nashville).....1006.5

Southeast (Chattanooga)........... 670.5

Upper East (Knoxville)............... 423

West Tennessee (Memphis)........ 274.5*

Memphis area is at a disadvantage in scoring area points because the area brings only four wrestlers per weight class to the State, whereas 6 placements are awarded. Other areas bring 8 to 12 per weight class and therefore have the potential to sweep any given weight class, which Memphis area does not have the potential to do.

Arjay,

It is not that Region 8 sends less, it is that West TN only has one region. Geographically speaking, Regions 1 and 2 are east TN and Knoxville area, Regions 3 and 4 are Clevland and Chattanooga areas of southeast TN, Regions 5, 6 and 7 are middle TN including Nashville, Clarksville, Murfreesboro and surrounding areas and Region 8 is West TN, which is all of Shelby County and Munford. Based on the team points breakdown, we did very well this year as a region as the fifth best team. More importantly, only two of our state placers are seniors this year.

Also, Middle Tennessee seems to be at an advantage in the numbers quoted, three regions vs. less for the rest of the geo-traditional scoring.

    • Wow I haven't been keeping up with softball had no idea.Been keeping up with baseball and we are slowly fading there.I will check it out!!Thx
    • It is what it is. Sorry DFL.
    • One of the biggest loosing teams in Mid-State are the Macon County Tigerettes. I have noticed that the roster is smaller than in the years past. All the senior's have quit. We have a great group of Jr High players coming up. I sure hope they don't loose them, like they have lost so many others this year. With this young group of girls coming up, a weaker district, they should have no problem going to State.
    • It was updated this season, because I did it.  Linder is the school's all-time leading rusher at 5,156 yards with 2,436 of those coming in 2014.
    • Oh, I’m sure you did. Maybe you heard just a rumor, but considering we have a football practice field and a soccer field that’s frequently used for lacrosse games and practices, I highly doubt it. Let me change that. I know for a fact that didn’t happen.   Glad you finally stopped attacking a bunch of high school students, but still obsessed with the coaching staff for some unknown reason, even though you could name more than three (at most) coaches without looking it up. But now come up with something else.
