Division II

I think Division II should be strong this year. I think Centennial will be strong, with an impressive win over Father Ryan. Cordova seems to have a good team, but the sleeper this year is Brentwood. We have a pretty strong attack and a strong D. Although not the best teams were there, Brentwood had a pretty good showing at Louisville. I cant wait for the Centennial Game. Last year both games were great, Brentwood lost but I think it was only by like one or two in each game and Brentwood is playing together really well. But I think DII teams are stepping it up and being able to play some with the DI teams. What are your guys thoughts about DII?

I agree that DII is going to be strong this year. Most of the in the division have gotten a lot better since last year. I'm not sure about the sleeper teams this year though. I think that the Brentwood vs. Franklin/Centennial game should be good. I'm not sure what the score is going to look like this year with Franklin/Centennial losing only 3 seniors from last year's team and Brentwood losing, to my knowledge, most of their Defense, Chris Collins, and Powers. However the games always seem to be close ones so we will see what happens.

Well Brentwood will be strong on Defense cause we didnt lose anyone. Also Chris Lewis could be one of the best attack in the state if he actually tried hard. He lived in Baltimore up to 8th grade, and then went to MBA freshmen year and played varstiy on that team. The only area Brentwood is lacking is Middies. Franklin/Centennial also lost a heck of a goalie too.

From what I saw at the Icebreaker, the gap between Tennessee's Division II teams and Division I is closing. Biggest difference was the depth of the lines. Whereas in the past the seond and third lines of DI teams would manhandle the DII's, the depth at DI has gotten better. Not great, but better with younger players. The key to all of it is coaching. Better (and more) coaching at DII level will elevate their play. Brentwood played world's better across the board then last year at anytime. Going 4-1 and losing to an excellent Trinity team with 2 All-Americans was a great experience. #50 for Trinity has the fastest shot we will see all year from anyone. He is a signee for John's Hopkins. Hope their other All-American (#9) is OK; he was taken by an ambulance to the Medical Center after a good clean hit trying to take a shot. They showed excellent stick skills and gave the Bruins much to work on. Good compliments by the Trinity coaching staff on BHS.

Last year's team might have wone one game there.

Weather was brutal the whole weekend.

Kentucky lacrosse is traditionally much weaker than Tn lax. Although, rapidly improving there probably isn't a team in Kentucky that could beat a final four team from TN. As far as the guy going to Hopkins, whoever told you that was sadly mistaken. They already inked a full class in November not to mention that Pietramala has publically expressed his hesitations to recruit players outside of the traditional hotbeds. Also Southern All Americans are no doubt good players but a large number of southern all americans go unsigned so there is obviously still a discrepency in the calibur of player from state to state. As far as DII is concerned, the gap is closing very rapidly, which is great for lacrosse in TN. Hopefully there wont be a gap at all in the very near future.

Farragut played St. Xavier and lost 9-5 in a very sloppy game for FHS. St. X is the defending champs of KY and FHS could have beaten them if they had not been on the bus for six hours. Nothing against the St. X team, but all they had were athletic players and no real stick skills. Their offense was poor and they scored off gorunballs in the crease, no one from Farraghut played good in that game. KY lacrosse is very weak compared to TN lacrosse. FHS man handled Ballard ther second place team and will play Trinity later in the year, which was their third place team.

Just curious as to who this Trinity team is and where they are from. Also, Johns Hopkins does not have a commitment from anyone on a team named trinity.

Trinity from Louisville, they don't have anything on their web site about having a team however - the same Trinity that MBA beat in football last season. KY lax still has a ways to go.

Just went by what one of their parents told me about the kid. He still had an awesome shot that is the fastest I've seen at this level. It was the same Trinity Shamrock team that played MBA in football. I felt the skill level of their top teams was comparable to what I've seen over the years in DI. Not to say our top teams couldn't beat theirs, but they definitely could compete.

    • The people need our help!
    • Lol when was last time they won region or got past the 3 rd round.
    • Gravedigger gotta finish filling the hole before hitting 40 East. May need a new Yellow Shirt play signaler on the Stones. And apparently a new strength coach now. Cicadas must've got shaken out of the bushes in Donelson. Hopefully the mower man sticks around to keep DG field looking pristine. Maybe new OC can call in a favor to his PGA friends that knows a thing or two about being green during the season. The heat is on soon. Bring in the 2 way freak Iceman and cool things off. He knows a thing or 2 about wildcats. Gotta take our talents South soon for Nationals. Don't step on my blue suede shoes.
