Tenndad
Volunteer State has had a tradition of outstanding teams over the last fours years. Motlow State and Walters State have been two of the other top programs in Tennessee if you look at your JUCO history. Volunteer State’s Head coach Jeff Smith used to be the pitching coach at the University of Louisville and is very sharp. Assistant coach Michael Crossland is an outstanding coach. The Facilities at Volunteer State and the baseball field are top notch and the school was very impressive on our visit. The school takes great pride in there athletic programs. The education experience has nice size classes where the student can be on a first name basis with his or her professors. The Junior College experience gives a player the chance to make an impact immediately and the player development programs they have are excellent. JUCO’s are great for players who are drafted and followed by the pro teams. They also have a great tradition of having players sign with a Div. I after two years. Vol State Signed Brad Cobb (SS/RHP) out of Goodpasture in Nashville last week. This makes two players ranked in the top 30 in Tennessee according to Baseball America’s prospect plus. Both throwing 87-88 mph. He is a power pitcher. He has a Fast ball, Cut Fastball, Curve, Slider and is working to master his change up. He has always been able to throw hard but in the last year he has learned how to pitch and hit his spots.
