Game 2 at the GEC

Recommended Posts

If it is anyway humanly possible, the crowd has got to be at another level for this one. Pivotal game for both teams, but a real statement game for the Preds. Power Play needs to come through for Nashville. Also, there is no way we can expect Volkun to withstand another barrage of 42 shots this game. Preds have to shoot from the point against Manny-the closer in you get, the better he gets. Preds jump out quick again, having outscored Detroit 3-0 in first period, will be key. Even more important is to neutralize them in the third period. (I don't know, have I asked for enough?)

This is the most geeked up this town has been about the Predators since they've been here, and definitely the most I've been geeked. Heard that Gary Bettman called Leopold and asked if it was as loud at the game as it appeared on TV.

Boys, let's make it LOUDER!

Very important game, very important. Sadly don't have tickets but I might very well go down and watch the game on the plaza. What a great time for the town and this team.

The defense does need to improve so as to not allow 42 shots again, but I have faith that Tomas could stop each and every one of them. He's playing great right now and I don't see any reason for that to stop. I think the PP is key, too. Ours has to get started before theirs does. With Zidlicky possibly returning tonight, that could be the key to start the ignition on our powerplay. Sullivan and Walker need to get some better chances. Granted, Detroit is doing all they can to stop them, I'd still like to see some production. If you put together some Sullivan/Walker production with what our young guns (such as Hall) are doing already, we could have a real good shot at taking the series.

GO PREDS!!!

I don't know if it is possible to be more geeked than last game. I'll take the same crowd. We gave up a lot of shots because we were playing with a 2-0 lead and were much more defensive minded. Not sure I like that kind of hockey, but we don't want to be caught in odd man rushes.

The first period will be the key to the game. Det-riot will come out hard. We need to skate and not lose all the physical battles. The Dead Things will try to provoke us into penalties. We need to stay focused.

We need the same senario as last game. Get the lead, play the 2nd period even, and find a way to put one in the net in the third. If the Dead Things don't get the lead first, look for them to start crying about the calls sometime around the 12 minute mark in the 2nd.

Look me up. Unfortunately, I'm in section 329, almost at the top. Last game I was in 107, watching a drunk Dead Thing fan barf his guts out.

Unbelievable, Preds pitch a shutout against the Red Wing Army. Preds are faster, quicker, looser, and obviously using their cheapshot tactics against them. I'm so hoarse today, I might have to carry a pen and notepad and use that instead of talking. Volkun is smoking Manny the Sieve. Hamhuis has more points than Yzerman. Reading the Detroit papers and they are getting very nervous and wondering what is going on. Mo Mentum is singing country music now. Take this next one up there and we'll close out Saturday.

Shock the World Baby!

    • Deja vu all over again, 7 yrs apart. SMDH Does anybody talk to each other?
    • OK, well, that’s because two quarterbacks can’t start. That’s football 101. The main quarterback won the starting job, so he was on varsity, and the Seymour transfer did not win the starting job. He played some varsity. He was mainly junior varsity, and he balled out when healthy, so for the starting quarterback who’s been starting varsity since his freshman year, if you have any form of proof that he’s gotten worse, somehow, whether that means stats or whatnot, please feel free to share.
    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
