wneely
Columbia Academy beat Giles County tonight by the final tally, 3-1. It was a very clean and very quick game. CA took the lead with about 20 minutes left to play in the first half. After the teams broke for half-time, Giles County came out on fire. Scoring a quick goal was Evan Baddour and then in hands-down the best flurry of saves of the year, the CA goalie stopped a laser direct kick from the right side (went down low to stop it), then gave up a rebound and immediately got up to dive and tip a hard shot from the right side. That play right there summed up the night. Giles County didn't have many shots at all. CA snuck in another goal which went thru the keepers legs right before the final whistle. The more disciplined team won tonight, but who knows what would have happened if not for the freakishly good saves from the CA keeper? CA leaves GCHS scratching their heads in defeat for the second straight year.
Bald one
USJ 3 Milan 1 Good game. USJ had all the right moves and calls. Milan slipped into their usual 8 man defense and giving the ball away constantly. USJ capitalized on errors on the field but didn't convert 3 PK's. Martin should be able to handle them. Bald one
Sportsmaniac, The score seems to reflect what you said. I didn't figure that TCA would play Martin that close. Did they recover from the injuries or did they just make great adjustments? I'll be at USJ on Thursday to see a great game between Martin and USJ! Good luck Martin! liondef4
Tca did not recover from the injuries. in fact they sustained two more(one in the game). Tca played the best game I have ever seen them play. To answer your question TCA did make some adjustments but they are not ones that you would think. They went to a three defender formation instead of their usual four and moved one of their better midfielders back to play sweeper. Another reason the game was so close was because of how TCA's goal keeper performed. He had some great saves but an unfortunate goal midway through the second half. sportsmaniac13
we made adjustments, we were forced too. some mid fielders had to play defense and we had a few guys off the bench step up. our problem was offense, we didnt have anyone to replace shige who has an unbelievable shot. we played hard though. martin has a great team. they should handle usj.
