How many Schools compete?

Just curious how many School have a Lacrosse program? And when did this sport first start in the state?

I think last time I counted i got 17 teams in the state divided into division I (8 teams) and division II (9 teams).

According to TNLAX.com there are 8 Div. I varsity teams and 7 Div. I JV teams. There are 12 Div II varsity teams and 7 Div. II JV teams. So that would appear to give us 20 schools sponsoring LAX, but I know some schools have combined teams and it also looks like Cookeville has a JV team, so maybe its 21. Lacrosse in TN started in the late 80's. The first TSLA state championship was won by McCallie in 1989.

I don't think Cookville has a J.V. team because we played their varsity with our J.V. They are just getting started so they need everyone on Varsity.

They dont have a varsity at all. Their team played jv teams this year. It is only one team.

allright i'll clear it up. i play for the cookeville lax team. this past season was our first season and we were a j.v. team and played other j.v. teams. if you have any other questions just ask me. i also play football for cookeville.
