Knoxville Central vs. Carter

Well--this is the last time these 2 will probably play in a while since Carter will move to 3A. It has been a good series.

Weather could be a huge factor in this game as hurricane Ivan may be moving thru our area. What is the drainage situation at Carter now days? It used to be horrible with standing "whatever" on the visitors sidelines.

Central should be a big favorite in this game, but Carter always plays them hard. Central lost last week to a strong McCallie team. The positives out of that game were the D really stepped up and played very well. The O line saw the best D line they will face all year and they can grow from that. Carter lost to Cocke Co. That was a surprise to me.

Let's hear everyone's thoughts on this one.

When's the last time the hornets beat the bobcats? I don't recall it happening in recent history.

Either way, I see both teams playing hard with a lot of running and tackling going on. I'll say it'll come down to one team or the other with the advantage at the end and somebody going home mad.

1986 was the last time Carter defeated Central. Then they didn't play until 1995 a 15-6 Central victory.

Hornets hope to turn it around after a disappointing loss against the Roosters

It would be nice to see you all improve. Carter used to be pretty good at football and basketball in the 80's didn't they?

    • Yes region 1 is extremely weak but a # 5 seed out of region 2 has no business in the playoffs either.
    • They've had some great talent over the years. They usually don't whip no one but can be tough to stop on offence.
    • Could be a lot of reason from what I’ve seen so far.  The lights wouldn’t turn on at Smyrna last night and had to move games to Blackman could be a reason or maybe he is talking about how on some of the games on NFHS network the camera placement was absolutely asinine. ( had a camera set up right in front of a net and couldn’t see crap)
    • If Gordonsville can manage getting through these next 2 games without using him it will be ideal. ER was the last team to not have to pitch their #1 till the state championship i believe. Worked out well for them but they also had one of the best 1A staffs of all time that year. Only allowed one run the whole tournament and it was in the 7th inning.
    • And he’s not even their #1. Lights out performance. Gordonsville is in the drivers seat with their #1 arm available throughout the tournament.
