Oak Ridge All-Time Greatest Player

I'm curious as to who is regarded as the greatest all-time Oak Ridge football player. I've heard of Dave Griffith, Stan Fritts, Emmon Love. I am aware of the great players in recent years like Orion Cox, Eric Thomas, Mike Caldwell, Shaun Summers, Jason McAddley. I know Fritts played QB for the NY Jets, Griffith still holds several state records and Love played at BAMA. Come on Oak Ridge faithful fill us in!

Help me out biglion. Oak Ridge had a running back who graduated in 1977 or '78 who played with us at Western Kentucky. Probably the fastest guy ever when he hit the corner. I don't want to drag out my old WKU stuff from under the house. Do you remember his name? It's on the tip of my tongue but just can't get my brain cells to work. As I recall, he was the most prolific running back from Oak Ridge up to that point.

Jackie Pope -- 15.2 yards a carry, led state in scoring, 44-64 passes, state and national championship team, entire backfield composed state championship 400 relay, high school all-american, featured in article in Parade magazine.

Richard Howard, right! I think he's the main reason UT cooled to recruiting Oak Ridge kids. I'm not from Oak Ridge so not familiar with the kid who played at Western Kentucky. I've heard of Jackie Pope, just not aware he was an Oak Ridge Alum.

I know this is off base, where is Coach Emory Hale now, played for him @ Austin Peay after Coach Watson Brown left.

You mean Richard "I waddle a 6.0 40 and should never had been signed to a D1 program" Howard, Shaun Summers was the best player on that team, Richard Howard looked imposing but just didn't have what it takes to be a successful SEC lineman. I was at UT while he was there and watched several practices, he was too slow, period.

Western Kentucky. Craig Freeman, my brother played against him at Oak Ridge. He is the uncle of another great Oak Ridge running back Shawn Williams of 1994 season. He lives out here in

Alcoa now.
