I know there are alot of undefeated's in 4A.....but why is no one even mentioning Melrose? They gave up 22 points this year. What's the word?

Every other undefeated team has to play someone before the semifinals. Melrose will not see another undefeated team until, White House, Stratford, or Hillwood. My other guess is that most of the people on coacht are from Middle and East Tennessee.

My guess on that is most of the drama in 4A is coming fom E TN. Melrose path to the Boro ain't a walk thru the tulips, but it doesn't have the cannabalistic nature of say Region 3 football. Teams having to beat each other, then beat each other again to move forward.

 

I might be underestimating the West 4A situation though...

This board has a major East Tennessee flavor and most have not seen Melrose play. Maryville's history of success in the playoffs provides their fans with a strong sense of security. Melrose's Semi-final losses have been by a combied total of 2 points. We can play with Anybody in Tennessee

 

When you look at the brackets there is a strong argument that the West bracket is the toughest. For example, If Melrose advances to the 2nd round, the opponent will be either Jackson Central Merry (9-1) or Crosstown and Region rival East. Before gettog to the the Championship game, the likes of Haywood County (2 losses), Ridgeway (current 5 game winning streak), undefeated Stratford, Hillwood, or White House. 4 of the undefeated 4a teams are in the West bracket.

 

In addition we (Melrose) lost 6 D-1 players from last years state semi-fnal team and most thought this to be a rebuilding year.

 

The shine of our 3 straight 3A State Championship games including 2 titles in the late 90's, 2nd highest number of active NFL players in the USA, and 3 total losses in the past 3 years may not bring much respect in the East. But that's cool. This should be an interesting and entertaining run. Good luck to all in the playoffs.
