Biggest Suprise in 2005 Schedules....

Just happened to notice the new Coffee County schedule for 2005-06 and outside of the five region games, there is a tremendous contrast between opponents from last year's schedule to this year's.

2004 = Sweetwater, Grundy Co., Wilson Central, Siegel.

Sweetwater is 2A, Grundy is 3A, Siegel is 2-18 in school history and Wilson Central (who I think will be quite formidable next year) made the playoffs for the first time this year at 5A.

2005 = Brentwood (5A, playoffs, lost in round 3), Overton (4A this year, playoffs, lost in round 2), Baylor (D-II AAA playoffs) and Shelbyville (strong regional rival).

Has anyone had a change in schedule as dramatic or more dramatic than this one?

what miffs me about coffee county is that they didnt want to play oakland, where oakland has a HC that has connections to coffee county, but they schedule brentwood, kind of has me a little confused there.

as far as non region schedules, oakland got a little weaker, but it needed to be that way. when you play in a region that is as competitive as region 4 year in and year out, you need to give yourself some chances to win your non-region games. while franklin, lincoln county and franklin county(oakland's 2005-2006 opponents) are exactly patsies they are certainly a step down from oakland played in 2003-2004(BA, Lincoln County and Franklin)

With Camden being moved across the river it should be an interesting year!...from what I hear the non-region schedule will be much tougher with the Lions playing Westview, Huntingdon and Henry Co and of course our familar 6aa buds Riverside and Adamsville...what will be interesting will be playing speed ball against smash-mouth ball...it'll be fun to see how Camden, Riverside and Adamsville do against those kind of clubs....makes you wonder if this mix will change the traditional speed in the west and smash-mouth middle TN teams....I guess we'll find out next year...I for one can't wait!

CC needed to upgrade their schedule. If you don't want to get beat by 50 points by a better than average team in the playoffs every year, you will need a stronger schedule than what 2A and 3A has to offer.

    • Dyersburg may win back to back to back championships. They are going to be hands down the best 3A team. Plus their District/region/sectionals are not very good. They basically just have to make it to region out of a 5 team district that has a few decent teams. South Gibson will be okay but they graduate their best player and there is nobody in the region 7 or region 8 who is going to compete with them.
    • I remember very well watching things change in the late 80's and yes it's all schools. Most people that are in charge today have any idea because they were raised and taught under this social experiment so they don't have a clue. Anyone that does see the truth for what it is usually try and hide it by blending in so that the School Gestapo doesn't round them up and take them to the Fuhrer ( kindly putting it ). Yes it is all schools not just Maryville. This train ride is not headed in a good direction and if the public had seen a movie of what's happening now back in 1980 everyone would have been headed home afterwards to change underware.
    • Hoping to make the playoffs.
    • You are so correct!  It’s really 99.9% of academia want to change to way that education is not only taught but the way it is viewed.  The pendulum has definitely swung as far to the left as possible and eventually will swing to the right much too far.  I have always  said that politics and one’s personal religious views need to stay out of education,  but for the last 40 years education has been running full throttle to what we have today.  If the social experiment that we are currently experiencing continues it is only a matter of time before the public school system in the USA completely collapses and all kids attend private schools or even worse don’t go to school.
    • He was a bruise but Aaron Dykes is HVA’s best RB ever.
