soccer in TN

What do you guys think about soccer in TN and how it gets treated? Here is an example;

Smyrna coach resigned back on October 4th of 2004 and nothing has happened to replace him up to this point but when their football team lost to Riverdale 2 days later they post an advertisment on TSSAA website for hiring three or four coaches for next year. It is obvious that football is looked as the MAIN sport at that school but is it fair to the kids that don't play football? Is that what the department of Education has in mind about kids in HS now days? What about those poor kids that play soccer? Are they getting what they deserve?

Tell me what you think about this situation.

Kids are not getting what they deserve in soccer BUT, a sport that brings about twenty to thirty fans to the sidelines is not going to get much support. The fan base is critical to how an organization is ranked in their system. If the program is comparable to football in fans, income and excitement, the rest will come. It's up to the coaches, players and boosters to make it into something admirable before you can complain about football.

McMinn has a good fan base we even have more fans than the home teams most of the times the years that we followed the teams. This goes for boys and girls. If the band and cheerleaders would show up at the games it would draw more to the games.

Same thing happened in Warren Co a couple of years back when I stepped down from the head coaching postition. Postion was never posted they only interviewed one canidate-who they hired(non-faculty) guess they didn't want to waste a faculty position on a soccer coach.

Men's coach resigned in the summer. They didn't fill that postition until Nov. of that school year(same non-faculty coach-nothing against him I now work with him)

But no respect is given will ever be given by the admistration in Warren Co.

Heck while I was coach the new principle never even bothered to speak with me(ever)

I think Girls' Soccer, as a sport, is getting more support and press, however, Tennessee has not always welcomed Soccer, with a large fan base, but I see the support getting better.
