Brentwood may be in for a long season having lost Tay Brogdon, Lauren Dugger, Anne Weingartner, and Kate Prentice to graduation. Their key returning players are Kate Hughes, Jessica Brennard, & Erica Shumacher. A new player that has done well is Kat Butler, but I have not seen her play since she was not present at the Page game due to an injury. I heard that she accounts for about 60% of their offense. Brentwood looked the worst I've seen them in years with a lot of turnovers, but the season is early and maybe they will improve.

I have not seen Franklin yet, but they lost Nikki Barney and Bennett Yarbrough to graduation. Returning players include Jessica Roberts, Kandra Bailey, Kameron Harrison, and Taryn Holland. With new coach Sean Stephenson, Franklin could also take some games to get used to his coaching style, I guess. We'll just have to see what develops during the season.

Eat dirt, you are an idiot, it is obvious you haven't done your research. Sean is a really good coach. You obviously didn't see what he did at Dresden. Two sub-state berths the last three years and should of been three in a row if the team had not had so many injuries late in the season. Do everyone a favor and know who and what you are talking about before you make ignorant statements.

Train, apparently you don't know what you're talking about. Dresden underachieved big time. They supposedly had all kinds of talent, just like this year, and didn't do crap. Over the last few years, Dresden could be considered one of the most overrated teams in recent history. You're right, Coach Stephenson is a pretty good coach, but it's hard to coach high school girls when they peeked in middle school.

I guess two substate appearances is pretty good, but at Gleason, just making it there is not good enough. That's why they'll always be one step ahead of Dresden.

Brentwood doesn't look like they're struggling to me. Big wins over Ravenwood and Centennial as of late, with no signs of slowing up. Siegenthaler is doing an excellent job of coaching a young team. I thought it would be a long year for the Lady Bruins at first too, but apparently not. They're still undefeated in the district.

Brentwood appears to be back on track to me, CALL4BRUINS. I saw that Kat Butler returned to the lineup for the Centennial game and had several assists and steals. Is she a freshman? Several other players have also stepped up their game including Becca Yarbrough who I believe is the sister of former Franklin player Bennett Yarbrough. It will be an interesting game at Franklin on Jan. 21.

realfan04, you are talking out both sides of your mouth. The comment was that Coach Stephenson had done a good job at Dresden. You said he didn't and then went on to say that it is hard to coach a team that peaked in middle school and that he is a pretty good coach. Which is it, Coach Stephenson didn't do a good job or the team peaked before he got them? We all want to know your expert opinion.

I watched BHS play Page. I got there at halftime and after watching a few minutes of the game, I questioned if it was a JV game. They have no speed, size, or depth to there team. They cannot even to compare to last year's team. I think it will be a very long year for the Bruins.

From what I have seen, the FHS coach seems to be coaching the team very well. I am not sure what happened to them against Hilsboro. I thought it would be a close came, but they ended up getting beat by 20. I'm guessing they were just having a bad night because they are a really athletic group.

    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
    • An FYI: To see how an opponent has done against another opponent since 2001- go to the game by clicking on one of the teams. Click the G beside the game. For example, Milan: The info will show you the previous matchups and other info.
    • All these college signees went yo other schools for 3 years, were getting college offers then transferred to Bearden. It’s not like this staff did much to develop them.    The BBall coaches son and the Seymour transfer were some of the most talented QBs in the region, and you guys developed them into QBs who might complete one pass a game.
