I may be wrong but I cant think of a private school near Riverdale- Murfeesboro that could have a chance of getting an athlete to leave Riverdale and go to their school. As for 5A teams in Memphis, such as Germantown and Houston, they have players leave for schools such as Briarcrest (Div. II AA State Champs), ECS(Div. II AA State Runner Ups), Memphis University School (Div. II AAA State Champs), and Christian Brothers. I know that at least 5 people who started for Houston in either their middle school program or freshman program all left and won state championships at either Briarcrest or MUS. If these schools were not around, or there werent so many, I can guarantee that the West would by far be the best.

5A in Middle Tennessee is more than just Riverdale High School.

Brentwood High and Franklin High could make the same argument about Brentwood Academy and BGA. There are also plenty of 5A Nashville schools near privates (Antioch and Ezell Harding are close to each other, for example).

Keep in mind, the Nashville-area 5As would be stronger as well.

There are currently TWO schools in Nashville that really 'like' R'dale players.  BA and MBA.  Trick is that there are some parents that like their children living at home and do NOT let their children go there.

Name the MBA players for me.

Check this post before you answer: Where MBA Kids Reside (2003)

I did this research in 2003 but will let it stand for any year before or after. There may be a Murfeesboro kid here and there (although I don't ever recall any), yet I will bet you a lifetime of Plus Memberships that you cannot show any pattern of flow of kids from Murfreesboro to MBA (at least two new kids per year from Murfreesboro for, say, ten years in a row). I don't even think you can show one new kid per year for five consecutive years. Care to bet?

With all due respect, put up or shut up (responding, "I'm not going to name names on here" doesn't cut it any more to those of us who actually fight our arguments with hard data). I'm sick and tired of the bullcrap.

Not going to bet because I do NOT bet on anything. Only thing I 'KNOW' is that I got a phone call from an alum from one of the two schools I mentioned that 'if' my son wanted to go to that school his tuition would be taken care of. If you read my post carefully you will see I said they'liked' some kids at R'dale and NOT that they got them. My son stayed at Riverdale because of the respect I have for one of the coaches there. Heck the tuition at BOTH schools are a third of what I make a year as a cop.

If this hurts your feelings or whatever I am sorry, but it IS the TRUTH!

Why does an alleged phone call from an alum of one of the schools mean that both schools "like" Riverdale kids? You're not selling me on this one.

My feelings aren't hurt. I know what the hard data says. I put no stock in hearsay. Sorry.

Because by saying 'one' will keep me from having to say 'which' one did it either under oath or on a witness stand.

Just because I carry a badge and a gun for a living don't automatically make me stupid.

Now I have a question for you. What would YOUR reaction be if I had said that BOTH schools had made the same offer?

    • Wanted to see if all of you would lift up Kyle James family in prayer. Kyle was one of the best wrestlers to ever come out of Soddy Daisy and as some of you know he lost his house a few weeks ago and now his family and friends mourns his passing. Not sure if any of you were around in early 2000’s when Kyle was wrestling at Soddy, but he was a 3 time state champ and a Fargo AA along with going to Colorado to train to make the Olympic team. That goal was never reached due to medical issues, but he was an amazing wrestler and his family is as good as gold. If you were around at that time and have any pictures of Kyle, please go onto Alexy Winesburgh FB page and post. Thanks, Doug Benton
    • My opinion the 8 teams will be-  Greenback, Wartburg, Gordonsville, Jo Byrns, Eagleville, Bruceton, Dresden, and South Fulton. Gordonsviile is probably the favorite but I wont say it will be an easy road. With the right draw any of the 8 could win it.
    • I understand Gibson Co. will be announced tomorrow with a familiar name. Not sure about So. Gibson.
    • A huge addition to the staff today! Former Hardin Valley legend and Richmond College running back Aaron Dykes was announced as the running backs coach. Rushed for over 3,000 yards at HVA, with 35 total touchdowns. I loved watching in Hardin Valley. I can’t believe he’s at Bearden now. I know he was trying to get a HVA job, I don’t know what happened there and how he ended up at Bearden, but I'm glad he’s here and believe he will be teaching art class as well! What a good get for the staff!!
    • Thoughts? Gordonsville won it last year with a sophomore pitcher and returned almost everybody. Can anyone beat them?
