Saturday is the game of the year in HS hoops, with Jackson (MS) Lanier playing South Gwinnett (GA), laying claim to the two top players in the Nation...

Monte Ellis, a 6'3 G who signed with Miss State, is averaging well over 35 ppg, has had a 55 point game this year, as well as dropping 48 on Oak Hill...

Louis Williams is also averaging over 30 ppg, and has jaw-dropping athleticism, as a 6'1 G signed with Georgia...

So who ya got??? Monte or Louis???

From my scouting of these two.. I will say Monte has more points, but Louis will have the more complete game.. As far as FG % goes... But I could be wrong.. If Mercer isn't on tomorrow night then Louis will have to take control and drop a lot of points... I look for both guys to have a 40 pt night or close to it! Can't wait to see them play college ball next yr... Georgia is going to be TOUGH, as well as Mississippi St...

Not to be nit picky, but Louis is averaging 27.1 pts. a game this year. He has went over 30 pts. twice this season. People that watched Louis play last year and years before say he is not performing as well this year. He has two huge games this weekend. They play Lanier High School on Saturday and then they play Oak Hill on Monday which will be televised on Charter Sports Southeast.

I have watched Williams play about 5 or 6 times this year. South Gwinnett will come out victorious in this game simply because Williams has a tremendous supporting cast in Mercer, Howard (this kid is on fire right now), Jukes (6'8 Junior), & Lockett (defensive guru). I wouldn't count on this being a one on one match-up. I will probably be Lockett who guards Ellis. If Williams comes out and has his best game of the year, the rest of the 5A schools in GA could be in major trouble.

The game went into double overtime tonight with Lanier coming out with the 88-79 victory. The one man show of Monte Ellis ripped South Gwinnett for 46 points while Williams had 34. This clearly goes to show who is more deserving of the #1 spot in the Class of '05. Ellis has no help at all and his team beat the #5 team in the nation...that is saying something.

South Gwinnett will get their 3rd loss on Monday at the hands of Oak Hill. This could be an embarrassing game for Williams and his crew...hopefully they can keep it in check.

I honestly do not understand why South Gwinnett is ranked #5. Heck at one point, they were #2. These guys play in a district about like Giles County does...extremely weak. Plus, I don't know how you can let one guy drop 46 on you and his team win. Williams to me is overrated. His jump shot is extremely streaky and he plays lazy defense. I honestly believe that you could take a Jackson North Side, Bolivar, Raleigh-Egypt, White-Station(in their prime), or maybe even Giles County(if Coffey decides he wants to play) and beat this team off of the floor.

I have not been impressed and Monday night will put the final nail in the coffin. Oak Hill beats them by 20+.

Trust me, Louis Williams is not overrated...

He absolutely TORCHED a dominant Memphis YOMCA team this summer in the AAU National Championship game, where Willie Kemp, JP Prince, Shawne Williams, etc, could not come close to getting a handle on this kid...

Williams does get lazy sometimes in HS, because I'm sure he gets bored out there at times. The kid is still averaging 28 ppg, and still dropped 36 on Sat night. I have seen this kid against the best all summer, and the summer before, and there is only one player that may be better: and he was also on the floor Sat night...

Louis Williams is legit...

Please lets not forget about Shawn Williams from Memphis TN product, who I feel is the only leget Pro-Prospect in the class of 2005, but everybody nose he's really from the class of 2004, so on the Real that leaves no Pro-Prospects for 2005 Class, and if there is one he will not go in the 1st Round....

I like the kid from GA (Mr. Louis) He is the most athletic kid in the 2005 Bunch. GA U got a good deal... Don't get me wrong Miss St reCuited well this year ,,, I like the Delk twins... I like to see pick up about 15 more pounds, that would give them the edge over a great recruiting Class.....

Oak Hill has Jamont, but some time he doesn't say focus and is lost on the Court.. But his body is ready for the next level easily.... Some of these other kids need to hit the weights this Summer.... Weather they go Pro or go to College... Asked the young Man who went to Portland last year in the Draft..

2004 was a incredible Class of Ball players, now its 2005 TURN!!!! thumb

    • I will never forget the 1983 Heritage vs Maryville game. I remember driving home and listening to WGAP. Can't remember the announcers name. He asked Coach Story why he kept going for 2? Story told him " Why didn't you ask Renfro that last year"
    • TSSAA will let them all go to Mase.
    • Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!
    • I would not put too much stock into the UH over Eagleville. From what I understand they were pretty banged up in that tourney. Catcher was out, they were throwing pretty deep in their bullpen and a few key players were beat up in their infield. Sounds like they are pretty healthy heading into the district tournament. Look at their schedule, they played some really good teams.
