Of course the tournament decides the "final place of each and every wrestler."  The point is that seeding determines the path they take to get to that final place.

Thank you for that possible clarification. Also, anyone complaining about seeds, the wrestlers who are capable of winning state should be capable of winning it no matter what their seed. The seeds are not set in stone law, its that thing called the State Tournament next weekend which decides the final place of each and every wrestler. Upsets happen, champions are made, and every wrestler gives it his all to get on the medal podium.

The TSSAA state tournament does not allow wrestle backs, so if #2 finisher has not beaten #3 finisher in the tournament, there is no recourse. So as you see, the seedings can determine where you stand on the podium.

Right, some matches I would have expected to see in the finals in this weight class, will now probably take place in the semis... that changes alot!

Does, anybody know how the brackets shake out in a 16 man tourney when you have to seed through 9?  I would love to know how they are placed.

 

I would assume that the 8 and 9 seeds have to wrestle one another first round.
