rigger101
And to add to that the three losses were to Stae Champions. The kid from Soddy beat him in the Soddy Finals and the state finals. Merable beat him in the semis @ the G.P. West invitational last year. Home cooking, sure think so! 825576789 Hello! rigger101
Hello! We have a winner!Give that man the prize! 825576874 Maybe the refs need to be broken out 33% split from all three parts of the state or by region. Never the less, it's getting obvious that if you’re not from a certain area, you can kiss OW good-bye! texas23
There was a case for the Soddy kid last year! James wasn't average!Gibson didn't look like a OW at the Nationals In Cleveland, OH. He looked very average. 825576771 Yeah, and if the Soddy wrestler would have gotten it (and he certaintly could have) you would still have the same lame argument that he is "from the area" (Hamilton County). ltrain44
I Do feel that knox or Meridith could have got it, but we do need to look at the level of competion. Bo wrestled a kid in the finals who beat coleman the year before in the finals. Also if you were watching the match, he was in control the whole time except for the beginning. He got 4 takedowns to Nic's one. Its already over now jsut my thought

Bo was not on the radar screen for that award, I bet. He certainly could have been up for best match, it was exciting to see him come back in the fashion he did. 911
I'm not a Claveland fan but Danny Coleman won the OW because he was the OW of the tournament. BUT if a wrestler from the other end of the state HAD been the OW, you would have still been jumping up and down saying the same things about your two homeboys being "slighted". I take nothing away from Knox or Meradith either one. They are great wrestlers! I watched every match of the tournament and if I had been an official, I would have voted for Coleman. It was not his fault he did not wrestle returning medalists, he simply went out on the mat a wrestled to the best of his ability and that was top shelf. In the matter of Quinn Gibson being chosen OW 2 years in a row. Anyone that says Gibson was not a man among boys in both those tournaments, should be drug tested! (Rigger you should be first in line at the clinic!) thumb
iwillpicku
just my 2 cents.... 1. the frehsmen/sophomore thing makes no difference because everyone at the state tournament deserved to be there by placing in their region 2. Coleman has been in the finals every year he has wrestled in the state tournament, believe he went 2nd, 1st, 2nd, 1st from his freshmen year on

ArtusCimber
Coach Delgado, Thanks for reminding us all of Michael Spencer. Talk about a human wrecking machine. That was my first year at Jefferson County. My best wrestler at the time, Lee Brooks, had the dubious distinction of being the only kid to go six minutes with him (actually he was teched at the six minute mark). I'm going to have to go back and try to see if I can remember anybody who dominated a weight class like he did then. Maybe Keller or Quinn Gibson; Kyle James was slicker but not as brutal. Justin Knox, Reveiz, and Meredith were all impressively physical, but Spencer just punished everybody. His was truly a display of physical and technical dominance. If anybody has time, post all the OWs from 1993 on and we can compare notes. I think Ryan Konz will be a three timer. What a tough kid. The last 1:40 of Bo's match and the overtime was really a cool thing to coach. I was never scared, or frustrated, or anxious. I was just there. I wish I could feel that way every time I sat down in a corner. It showed me what it was all about. But I digress. I'll shutup now.
