Don't know if you guys got a chance to see the Georgia state finals on TV the other day, but the kid wrestling 112 from Cherokee High School, Rucker, set the the national record for takedowns this year.  He had 496 going into the state tournament.  I think he had 472 last year and has 2 more years to go.

Impressive, but are these just high schools which kept records? Do or did Connell, Morgan or Langsdon even keep up with the stat. I can see pins and victories. I mean, is someone out there keeping up with escapes?

Yes actually we keep up with everything from takedowns, escapes, nearfalls, reversals, and even penalty points that our wrestlers get and have given up. Also keep things like average fall time etc. It is very possible to set-up spreadsheets that make it very easy to track these kinds of things, matter of fact I picked up the one I am currently using here on CoachT!

Hey Ronnie,

Exactly how many did Jonas have this year? I know I checked your stats page a while back and he was already well over 100, which I would think is a pretty darn good season to most anyone.

Because I started the thread and I would like to know.  Everyone has that "start new topic" button if they don't want to talk takedowns. :)

Whats a good number for a kid during the year. I know my son had a match last year that he scored around 25 points taking a kid down then letting him up. Who knows top pins for one season?

I had 21 or 27. I guess I will have to go and count all my pins. I might need them again in a couple of years. LOL <_<

    • Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!
    • I would not put too much stock into the UH over Eagleville. From what I understand they were pretty banged up in that tourney. Catcher was out, they were throwing pretty deep in their bullpen and a few key players were beat up in their infield. Sounds like they are pretty healthy heading into the district tournament. Look at their schedule, they played some really good teams.
