"I'm there to make them better," Chambers said. "My No. 1 goal is to get them an opportunity to play college basketball. But that takes academics as well as basketball ability."

there is a lot more money for academics than there are for athletics...I tell kids all the time get the grades and the rest will take care of itself...remember all they need for the lottery is a 3.0 GPA OR a 21 on the ACT and that will take care of alot of the expense right off the bat and the other thing is...if a coach is looking at 2 guys and they are about equal the one with the grades is gonna get the opportunity

So right you are...and 3.5 with a 24 (or even better, a 26) would enhance your odds for a really good opportunity tremendously - even if you never played a sport. I know the kids these don't want to hear it, but here it goes. Turn off the 360 once in a while and read a book.

The NEW/IMPROVED LaVergne High is on it's way. :roflolk:

All good posts.

Less than 1% of all college athletes get full ride "athletic scholarships".

Most have a combination of athletic and academic.

Study Hard! Practice Hard! Play Hard!

Coach Cal say's all you need is a 15 on the ACT. If the GPA needs to be raised from a 2.4 to a 3.5 in order to qualify Cal say's they can find a way to get it rasied.

Don't know who Coach Cal is, but he is misleading and misinforming you.

A 15 on the ACT won't meet the minimum requirement at many if not most college institutions.

Just because you qualify/clear the NCAA and the NAIA (beginning 2011) does not mean you meet most college entrance requirements.

"Finding a way" to get GPA raised sounds alot like falsifying information and that will get you real trouble if it's ever found out.

You had better make sure you take all the "core course" requirements set forth by the NCAA and the NAIA.

He is making fun of Calipari's questionable recruiting "adventures" in Memphis and Lexington. And probably at UMass before that back in the day.
