Every track and field program has wieght training as part of routine. If you talk to a track or running coach- he/she will tell you without upper body stength an athlete will never reach their full potential for distance and speed. As we all know upper body strength takes development - which puts you in the weight room. And don't forget the advantages of a good throw-in!!

Amanda and Emily played last year and were contributors- Chelsea played a portion of last year but unfortunately she has been plagued with knee problems

I agree - Great List! Some more input: Chelsea Hunt, Amanda Barton and Emily Bithorn from Bearden are not playing high school soccer.

As I understand it - refs are assigned from a central office, so "home -cooking" is rather difficult when you are playing a knox county vs knox county game- Also, I tape alot of games and even when I'm convinced that there was bad reffing- it is rarely that way when viewed on my TV outside of the emotions of an ongoing game.

I know this is a little off topic but since this is a Knox area thread.... WMAK after supporting High School soccer last spring on Sat night is showing - you guessed it - football on Saturday night and Sunday afternoon. Here is thier web address-http://wmaktv.com/football.html - maybe if all Knox countians who are soccer fans email them they will give us a Sunday afternoon slot- after all we don't play on Friday nights so it wouldn't be a conflict on the TV trucks, announcers, or camera crews.

High School season is beginning now- most teams have either had tryouts or are having tryouts next week- Oak Ridge had tryouts in May and already has Varsity and JV teams picked Beardens and Farragut have tryouts next week. You might want to contact the coaches in the school zones you are considering and make arrangements.
