  1. Josh Blake has offers from Cumberland and Tuscalum but has not made a decision as of now he is also considering walking on.
  2. Yes Josh Blake should be on the allstate team. He should have been one of the finalist for Mr football, but they were not going to pick two players from the same region. Josh and David Jones both should have been picked as finalist. Here are some reasons why I think Josh should be on the AP allstate team. Josh and David are the only two players from single A listed in the top 75 players in the state on Rivals unauthorized website.com. Josh also is the only returning player from last year other than David that made one of the two allstate teams last year, Josh making the coaches asso allstate team. The same players that were on the coaches allstate team were also the same players on the AP allstate team excluding Josh. One thing I did not understand at the begining of the year there was a preseason AP allstate team the qb from Cascade was the preseason pick. When you looked at his numbers from last year they were not even close to Josh's numbers. Last year Josh rushed for 908 yds and 12 td's and passed for 1810 yds and 25 td's but he he also played both ways and was second leading tackler on team last year with 81 tackles 2int's making all preps in Chattanooga as a db. This year Josh had 991 yds rushing and 14 td's a 9.8 yds per carry 1586 yds passing 28 td's and only 2int's and on defense 5 int's. I am sure the kid from Cascade is fine ball player but his numbers and the other things that I mentioned don't match up to Josh. I know last year the AP allstate team had 4 players on it who played the qb position may be they will do the same thing this year.
  3. Congrats to David on winning Mr Football I am glad a player from region 3 received the award. I think region 3 had two of the best players in single A football this year in David and Josh Blake. Again congrats to David and good luck in the future. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  4. What about Tod Ressing of Kansas BCS team last year 5'10" 190lb. Appy State qb last year beating Mich 6' 0 175lb. Tyson Lee Mississippi St qb 5'9" and a half 190. At the beginning of the season Josh was 5'11" and 177 and he is only 17 and as hard as Josh works on the lifting at the end of his senior year I think he will be around 185~190lb's, he put on 20 pounds last year. After a redshirt year in college he should be around 195 ~ 200. I think playing in single A ball is hurting him just as much as his size. If given a chance at qb I think he would do well because of his arm strength and his accuracy and he knows how to play under pressure he has the poise to play the position. Some schools have looked at him as a defensive back but he really needs to be on the offensive side of the ball with his speed and and good hands he would also make a good slot receiver.
  5. Thanks, and good luck to David I hope he wins Mr Football and that SP wins the state for region 3.
  6. Thanks for your thought, I don't know how they come to their decisions, I do know that the decision is announced after the first week of the playoffs. Last year at this same time Josh was leading the state in total yds and in total td's just as he is this year. Last year all three of the nominees were seniors I can see them picking seniors for this award. This year he is a senior and he is leading the state again even with a wider margin then he did last year at this time. This is his numbers compare them to the three nominees. Rushing yds 988 yds 14 td's 9.6 yds per carry passing 1585 yds 28 td's 2int Total yds 2573 total td's 42 Josh did this not playing in the 4th quarter in 6 or 7 games. Maybe they pic who they think the best players are I don't know. I do know that Josh and David Jones are the only two returning players this year that was on one of the two allstate teams last year and they both are the only two 1A players that made the top 75 players in the state on Rivals unauthorized website.COM
  7. As for not getting past the first round Manassas and James King lost in the first round so I say that ends that theory. For your information Grace did not win the first round because Josh got hurt early in the 2nd quarter and could not return to the game. Josh had mri done last night we should know the results sometime today.
  8. It should be a good game. I don't know a lot about Watertown other than the schedule that they played and I think they like to throw the ball.
  9. OP, you can ask zonepirate who I am he knows and I do appreciate your fair and honest assessment. I don't think you ever said that David shoudn't be Mr Football.
  10. Josh has been in the same boat he has only played in the 4th quarter in four games many times only playing one series in the third quarter. David is a very good player he and Josh are the only two single A players who are rated in the top 75 on TN VARSITY.COM.
  11. Thanks OP for your words of recognition and praise of Josh's play. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  12. Josh had a 70 yds rushing and 119 yds passing for a total of 189 yds in the game Friday night and 1 int. He had about 50yds in sacks that took away from his over all rushing total. Josh's totals for the year I believe he has 961 yds rushing on 97 carries 14td's and 1560yds passing with 27td's for a total of 2521 yds and 41 td's. Every time Josh gets sacked that counts as a carrie for him. I think you should take in cosideration when comparing the stats in this game that Josh and the Grace team were going up against what most people would consider the #1 defense in the state and rightfully so. As I said before both players are very deserving players. What are David's total's for the year now.
  13. I would like to say first of all that I was very proud of the Grace football team Friday night remembering that they played the defending state champions and still the #1 team in the state. I would say that even the SP fans would say that the Grace team played well and that it was a exciting high school football game to watch. Most know that Grace is a new program only in its 5th year. I would say that they have shown improvment every year and have done it the right way in regards of not recruiting kids, I think that in it's self is deserving of respect. In regards to David Jones and Josh they both are really good football players each with different strengths and styles, both dserving of Mr football consideration. I would also like to say that I appreciate the SP coaching staff and players in their comments and words spoken to Josh and the team after the game. The SP team have and showed a lot of class. Good luck the rest of the year.
  14. You need to realize that the Ooltewah freshman team does not practice with the varsity they practice as a separate group. That it a big advantage on how they run plays and their defensive asignments. Most of the Grace JV has to stand and watch the varsity practicing and get very little practice time, so in the jv games the timing is off and people are out of position. Dedric Calloway and Corey Nelson did not play in that jv game two of our best fresman, anyone that has seen Dedric play they whould say he is the real deal. I am not sure if you are really a Silverdale fan but if so let me remind you that the Grace -Silverdale jv game was tied at the time the game was called because of weather in the third qrt. That would tell me if Grace is in trouble Siverdale is also but I really don't think that is so for either team. I thought Silverdale's young players looked good but if you saw the game would have to say that Dedric was the best athlete on the field, just ask coach Allen what he thinks about him. As for next year Grace may drop a little bit but they might also surprise some people. Their are a good group of players returning to build around and the freshman class this year was 8 and 0 in the middle school last year. This years middle school team was 7 and 2 and have some really good players coming up to the varsity that will contribute in the future. If you are a Silverdale fan I would say that there is a lot of good things going on at Silverdale and the future looks bright with the new stadium and you have good coaches in the middle school and the high school. In saying that you need to know that Grace's middle school team has beat Silverdale's middle school team every year. That has had more to do with tallent of players than any thing else and Grace has had better players. This year score was 38 to 14 that is a trend that Silverdale will have to overcome because it usually transfers up to the high school level and that has been the case at the high school level. What could be trouble for Grace and Silverdale is what is the economy going to do and the new east brainerd school that is going to open up.
