  1. Great win for Polk County, Tyner didn"t play it's best game of the year, in fact I think it was Tyner's worst but, a loss is a loss..........I was not impressed by Polk, the defense is solid but, the offense is not very good, IMO. I want Polk to enjoy this win because I don't think Polk can get by CAK.
  2. To win your region with only 2 losees( to two 4A schools) and not get a first round home game is wrong, anyway you look at it. Tyner was undefeated it it's region and should have been able to at least host a first round game. Tyner beat Howard and Howard is ranked above Tyner!? How does that happen? Anyone that knows anything about brackets knows the head to head meetings serve as a tie-breaker! Now as for the Polk/Tyner game, Tyner seems to have 2 teams this year, one very good and one very bad, Tyner seems to have a bad habit of playing up (or down) to it's competition.........I know Polk is a good team so, if the trend holds true, it should be a very good and close game. I think Tyner wins in a nail-biter.
  3. To the Westmoreland players and coaches: Congrats on a hard fought win last night. That #34 is a beast. Maybe we at Tyner over-looked ya'll and it came back to bite us..........I think the turning point in the game came just before half-time when we couldn't get any points from the one yard line. That Wicks kid is the first running back to rush for 100 yards against Tyner this year, that says a lot about Westmorelands O-line. That pass interference penalty( which I thought was a bogus call) also killed us. To the Boyd players and coaches: Don't fall into the trap of beleiving that Westmoreland is a weak them because they are not. To the Boyd players: you will have to bring your "A" game to beat Westmoreland. You will definately have to play better against them than you did against Tyner............(this goes double for Nic Hughes). I wish both teams good luck but, I hope Boyd can represent 3-2A and go all the way to the state.............good luck.
  4. Based on last year, DCA DOES pass a lot..........that is how they beat Tyner in the playoffs last year. As long as Boyd can get pressure on the QB and Nic Hughes plays better than he did against Tyner,( which was VERY unimpressive after all of the hype about him) Boyd can win. I hope Boyd has their secondary ready............
  5. Tyner's run defense is very good and it is true that their pass defense has been suspect but, they have shown improvement over the last couple of weeks. Last week against Boyd they moved some players around and I think they may have found some solutions. I had heard a lot about that Hughes kid at QB for Boyd and he really didn't look that good IMO. Tyner can get pressure on the QB with their D-line and that always helps the secondary...........Tyner had 3 picks against Boyd, 1 returned for a touchdown that was called back on a questionable penalty call and a fumble return called back for a touchdown that was called back on a questionable penalty so the game wasn't as close as it appeared.............I will confess that I don't know much about Westmoreland but, I think Tyner wins.
  6. Tyner's secondary is suspect, although they did a better job last Friday. I know that Howard will come out trying to throw and if our secondary keeps letting the receivers get behind them, it will be a long night. I don't think the talent is the problem so, it must be the scheme...seems like the secondary coach for Tyner teaches some little league type of pass coverage, keeping the defensive backs between the receiver and the quarterback, and always playing outside position. It opens up the middle of the field and the long pass. I hope we can get that fixed...............
  7. It is a good thing to have pride and faith in your team but, to use your own words, South Pittsburg hasn't been tested this year. Well, with the game just a few hours away, get those boys ready to get tested. Tyner may not win this game but, the scores that people are predicting on here are just crazy...........It will be a close, hard fought game. Maybe by these predictions on here, Tyner should just call and forfeit the game..........I assure you that won't happen and I also assure that the RAM TRAIN is getting ready to leave the station......you better get off the tracks............
  8. I have to give a lotof credit to Marion County because they just plain kicked our butts, now, with that being said Marion county (IMO) benefitted from the schedule. Tyner was coming off a big win at Know-Fulton and I beleive they were over-looking Marion County.........The South Pitt game has been circled on many a player's calenders since last year. Tyner was without their 2 starting receivers, the starting fullback, the starting middle linebacker and 2 of our linemen left the game early because of injuries..........Not to take anything away from Marion County because a loss is a loss but, I suspect South Pit will see a totally different team than what is on the tape.................I KNOW that Coach Turner will work the crap out of his players this week..........should be a really good game, and IF you want a fish sandwich, you BETTER get it early or they will be gone..............good luck to both teams
  9. With the way the 3rd quarter started, it looked like last year all over again but, the Rams showed a lot of heart and desire and got the win............Great job guys, now just stay focused and take care of businees, you still have a long tough road ahead..................
  10. Well, the Tyner Rams finished their season at 7-5. Not a bad season but, many things left un-done. The team started to come together toward the end of the season. They have a good and very talented group coming back next year and they should go deep into the playoffs IF we get a receiver/ defensive back coach. DCA exposed our weakness and did it well............we cannot continue to be sub-par as far as defensive backs go. The talent of the players is definately there but, the coaching is not. Hopefully Coach Turner will get a receiver/defensive back coach to comein before spring............keep your fingers crossed.......................
  11. First let me say congrats to DCA, good game and a good bunch of kids, staff and fans. Second, let me say that our weakness was definately exposed, the secondary, not so much the players, as we have some good athletes there but rather the secondary coach. This is high school football and not pee-wee, the players can't continue to have to overcome being out of position by having to use their speed to recover. That was proven last night. IMO there needs to be a coaching change at secondary/receiver coach, I know this doesn't count for much but it's my OPINION. Again congrats to DCA.
  12. I don't know that much about DCA but, IMO this is the best team that TYNER has had in a couple of years. The key for Tyner is to control the line of scrimmage on BOTH sides of the ball and to not make costly turnovers. If Tyner can do that then, they can go deep into the playoffs, possibly win the state. From what I hear, this should be a good, close game but, I'm piccking TYNER by 6.
  13. The game starts at 7:30 and they are also paying tribute to the 1997 team that won the state..........TOOT,TOOT
  14. Well, I guess I will get this topic started. After a VERY disappointed game at McCallie, Tyner should come out with something to prove. Tyner usually responds very well after a loss and I know that the team has had this game circled on their calender ever since the game last year. The guys want to re-claim the region championship and I know that the coaching staff will do everything to see that that happens. Last year we played in the swamp that Boyd calls a field after a downpour and it really affected our game. This year the game is at Tyner and I look for the "Ram Train" to get back on track.......................
  15. I think it will be a close game but, I think Tyner finally gets that monkey off of their backs, I say Tyner by 8...
  16. Tyner goes to McCallie this week, What do you think? Tyner played it's most complete game of the year against a very good Muurphy N. C. team. I think this will be a verry good game.
  17. First I would like to say congrats to South Pittsburg on a great win, I wish that the outcome had been different but, that's the way it goes. Second, as far as the cramping, 2 things contributed to that, it is my understanding that most of the playets for SP haven't played a whole game this year until last night and also it is a hydration thing. These boys have to understand that they have to PRE-HYDRATE, that means you can't wait until right before the game and try to hydrate, you have to start at least the day before. Over-all it was a really good game by players and officials and I am already looking forward to next year at our place.....good luck to SP the rest of the way.........
  18. The punting troubles come down to 2 things.......the long snapper takes too long to get the ball to the punter and the punter takes too much time getting the ball away. Tyner and South Pittsburg should be a really good game and I think it will be closer than most people expect...but, if Tyner can find any passing game at all, they should win.....
  19. true that our secondary has been beaten some this year but after the Fulton game, I beleive everyone will see a different Tyner team..........our defense against the run Friday was very good and our secondary had a couple of interceptions so, the secondary may be coming around, we can score points, even without a passing game so, Marion is going to be in for a good game...............by the way, be there early to make sure you get a fish sandwich.....
  20. On the contrary legend........I don't think Tyner was forced to "bow down" to Fulton, It was a very good game and Tyner had plenty of chances to put it away but, just didn't do it. Fulton is a very good team and I think this game went a long way toward proving to Tyner players that they can hang with some of the best teams in the state, now we just have to cut down on the mistakes and find someone that can throw the ball...................
  21. It wasn't in the Times-Free-press, Saturday or Sunday.............
  22. I just said that we had hardly any calls the second half....
  23. How can a team that is so undisiplined, as you said, go from having so many penalties in one half, to almost none in the other half? If it is the team that is so undisiplined, then it would carry over from 1 half to another, would it not? I think there is more to it than just the team being undisiplined and you can't blame it on sour grapes because Tyner won. I just think (so did a most of the people in the stands on Tyner's side) that there were a LOT of questionable calls, that's all I'm saying.
  24. yes, the Warriors have nothing to hang their heads over...by the way, how are the players that left the field hurt? or was it just cramps?
