  1. as for this game, I wonder if Clarksville with their running game is just a better matchup for Henry County than Rossview and their ability to pass. I'm hopeful this game goes much like another run-dominant team that they've played, minus the crazy amount of turnovers. I must admit I feel a bit more anxious about playing Rossview than Clarksville, despite the fact that Clarksville beat them.
  2. Starting to see why nobody in district 10 likes Rossview?
  3. I don't know if Shelby was the head coach for all 5 years, but at Northeast he was extremely successful as the lower seed 2009-beat Hendersonville on the road before losing to eventual champ Beech on the road 2010-beat Beech on the road and Clarksville at home before losing at state runner-up Hendersonville by 3 2011-beat Memphis East on the road before losing to eventual champ Henry County on the road 2012-beat Station Camp and Centennial before losing at the eventual state champ Jalen Hurd Buccaneers by 1 2013-beat Lincoln County, Hillsboro, and Gallatin, all on the road, before losing to eventual state champ Henry County perhaps no team has outperformed their seeding more or been a harder out than Shelby's teams. I guess that's my way of saying that I wouldn't sleep on Clarksville if I was Shelbyville.
  4. Although I do sense the irony in not being able to agree on whether we disagree.
  5. I don't know that we're really disagreeing. Most of these rules that the TSSAA made up have gotten in the way of good old common sense, so things like natural quad don't make a bit of sense when there are a large number of 5a playoff teams in east Tennessee.
  6. sure it does, if all things are equal, and in both cases they were, you create the least travel for the first round.
  7. Henry County was the 1 seed last year, Kenwood was closest to them, so they went quad 4. This year, Ridgeway is the 1 seed, Lawrence County is closest to them, so they went quad 4. Seems consistent to me.
  8. The funny thing is that Ooltewah would be the team with every reason to gripe some, but you haven't heard much from them.
  9. Lawrence County has gone to quad 4 twice, with a 1-2 record. That's faring well? Low expectations down there I guess. Although I'd probably be worried more about Millington than about having to travel for round 2.
  10. I'm not saying they'll put a Clarksville school in their place...but Henry County has been quad 3 before, I remember your gallatin team beating them in the 2nd (?) round a few years ago, and a Hendersonville team the year before or after...so it isn't unprecedented. plus, by the state's projected maps, it seems that they want to put hc in quad 3 to balance them out. I think if they're forced to, they may go Lawrence co instead of henry, but just a hunch
  11. forgot about east and ridgeway playing, you are correct. but I still get the feeling that those who are in charge would rather put henry county in quad 3 to even things out than to put them in quad 4 (regardless of what seed they may be).
  12. if Millington wins out, Mumford wins out, and Ridgeway wins out, they'd be the fourth district winner while also having the fewest number of wins. plus there is still the possibility of east winning out and passing them. now, I'm not here to say how likely any of that is, but it's definitely a possibility
  13. henry county's record is wrong. they've lost 2 games and because of that there is essentially no chance of them being a 1 seed. actually, it's probably much more likely that they could be a 4, and if east beats Whitehaven, even a 5 seed. because of this, and because quad 3 is so weak, I wouldn't be surprised to see them switch Lawrence co and henry co to try to balance it out more. but just my opinion.
  14. yeah, but last year Henry County was the 1 seed, which meant the drive wasn't crazy, but this year Henry County won't be, which means they'd have to drive from Clarksville to Memphis
  15. if Hamilton doesn't make it, I'd imagine they'd put Lawrence County in quad 4 before either Clarksville team.
  16. maybe, but not every one of the teams listed has qualified yet (assuming 5 wins gets you in).
  17. an early look, but still: http://football.tssaa.org/reports/maps.cfm
  18. I'm hearing talk that Henry County may just forfeit all games next year to play it safe.
  19. probably really fun to watch when you're a kenwood fan/coach pretending not to be.
  20. That's what I was afraid of, and if that's the case then HC, West, and Memphis East are 1a, 1b, and 1c.
