  1. Excellent Job Lakyn! It is some much fun watching you play. Even more fun to watch when you dominate the game. It is also great to know your an awesome person off of the court. Keep it up. Continue on toward 1,500. You can do it!
  2. There is an excellent forum going on in the boy's board right now. Here is the link. New TSSAA rules?
  3. Seems to me that they are just content to loose. So long as they have a team they think that is all they need. Not only in the Bledsoe school system, but also in other systems, the administration needs to step it up and provide the BEST for the students. Not just in sports, but also in teachers. After all, they are just kids and kids deserve the best.
  4. Nice post JW. People do not understand that life is not about sports, but sports can be used to teach kids about life. You have to look at this rule and evaluate whether it helps more or hurts more. To much freetime allows teenagers minds to wander and they usually wander into trouble. If you implement this rule, I think you will increase the amount of trouble that student athletes get into. Without this rule you allow coaches to call their players into the gym or on the field. This will decrease the potential of getting in trouble and allow them to learn about the game and more importantly about life. Look at the average team. With 15 players atleast 4 come from broken or troubled homes. Usually they live without one of their parents. As for girls if they have a male coach, the coach can easily take on the role of a father. The same can be said if a boy lives with his mother. We need to quit worrying about buidling winning teams and worry about building character. You can build character through basketball, and inturn the skills learned and the character that is built will produce winning teams I PROMISE.
  5. Now thats a family tradition. Good job Karly. Keep Scoring!
  6. I am taking it that Moore is the other starter that is out. Are they both injured? How did they get hurt? I can not imagine how good Chattanooga Christian will be when they get Moore back considering they are playing this well with out him.
  7. I know exactly what you mean when you talk about the "optional" open gym . I like going to the gym during the week and helping the players, but some coaches do take it way to serious and it takes the fun out of playing. When you take the fun out of something, you tend to only do a half way job at it. Leave the open gym open for some fun. It will increase the players want to play.
  8. Without the push from an outside influence, these kids would be like the other 90% of kids age 12-18. They would be sitting on their butt watching tv and playing video games. Not gaining much that will benifit them in life. Now I have nothing against video games, I love a good game of Madden 08 myself, but people wander why the obesity rate and juvenile diabetes rate increases each year. It is because no positive influence is there to take these children under there wings and push them to be their best. A "good coach" will recognize a young players ability, and take them under their wing to make them a better player. In turn a "good coach" will teach these players life lessons and help them to make something of themselves. * "good coach" is intended as a coach who is there for the kids, not themselves.
  9. I know the TSSAA is trying to keep the playing field level for sports, but I believe we have an example of BIG GOVERNMENT interference. Trying to tell people when, they can do what, with who, and how. All while listening to them as they do it. I'm a big fan of a 3 sport athlete. I mean how better to develop eye hand coordination and your spped than to particiate in spring sports. How better to get stronger and more aggressive than to play football. And a big plus for girls, how better to increases your game than to play volleyball. If possible I think all basketball players should play volleyball. It teaches you to move you feet, square your body, time your jump, increase your vertical, and improve eye hand coordination.
  10. Can the TSSAA "legally" restrict who plays on what team during the summer? Seems to me that they have no rule over any athletic event that does not take place in a TSSAA sanctioned school. Also does TSSAA have any jurisdiction over the individual player(s) or just the school sponsored teams?
  11. So what happened tonight? Is York Institute the better team or did Upperman have an off night?
  12. The team I watch did not schedule to play a team this season because of rough play that would quickly get out of hand. When we would play at their place it would be a close game and someone always got hurt or thrown out. When they played at our place the score would be no where close and some very close to intentional actions would come out. Last season with a 30 point lead there was a jump ball situation where a player literally threw punch and hit one of our girls while they were tangled up trying to gain possesion. I can not say that the rough play was coached because the coach took the player out, but it was definitely instilled in this player by someone. In cases where a team is consistently rough or flagrant it is best not to schedule that team. If the team is in your district or region then I do not know how to help.
  13. Good Job Kayci! How many does she average per game? This year and last?
  14. Excellent job Zephan on 1,000 points. Not any easy accomplishment and one that should be recognized. Also an impressive triple double by Cody
  15. If everyone would stand up and take the blame for their mistakes, there would be no blame to be placed. bballmom10 makes a great point and it all boils down to communication. Communication goes two ways. You must be able to send a message and you must also be able to receive a message. If you only do one of these two then you are not communicating, you are simply speaking or listening. As a team you work together to make decisions. I understand that the coach is often a dictator, but everyone should be involved in those decisions, both player and coach. The Coach should be man or women enough to stand up and say it was my fault. Besides, the coach should be mature enough to take responsiblity instead of placing blame on 16 and 17 year old players when it clearly falls on them
  16. Does anyone know why he was thrown out at Sequatchie? I was there but I did not see anything that warranted him being thrown out. Plus it was late in the fourth quarter with the game all but over.
  17. It's a like a new gym. Some one took some pictures after they changed them and you can definitely tell a difference. To see a picture taken after the lights were changed follow this link to www.sequatchieonline.net. Sequatchieonline.net Sequatchieonline.net (Cleveland game)
  18. Great to here that a growing sport is doing well at Sequatchie. Its also great to see a Sequatchie team is at the top of their district. Can you post the remaining schedule for Sequatchie so that I can come watch them bowl?
  19. The yellow bulbs have been replaced with nice new white bulbs.
  20. Sequatchie over Tate, Florida 71 - 33. Memphis Central beat Austin East by 20 or so. Sequatchie will play Memphis Central tomorrow.
  21. If you are looking for a good game to watch today (11/17), this will be the one. Sequatchie host Ceveland at 3:00pm central time, 4:00pm eastern time. This game will be well worth the travel.
  22. Will the Tyner band follow the Ram Train to Dunlap? If so, they are liable to be the most exciting part of the game after the opening kickoff.
  23. They are posted on the TSSAA website. Just click on which class you want and then below the score is a link for game stats. TSSAA
