  1. Though it would be a nice gesture, it is my understanding that they are not retiring his jersey number - they are framing one of his jersey's to present to him. His number has not been "retired" - I think there is a rule about not using a number of a player for several years after they win Mr. Football. As someone posted earlier - There aren't enough single digit jersey's now, and if we start retiring them, then we wouldn't have any left to choose from.
  2. It is at Tech because our game field is so saturated - almost flooded. The game is in the afternoon because there is a game already scheduled there for 6:30 or 7:00.
  3. Congratulations Tyler Robinson - 2A Lineman - Mr. Football!!!! Way to go! We are so very proud of you and all the Alcoa Boys!
  4. I agree with BC - the crowd was really flat last week! Several of the players even commented that we don't yell loud enough! I know the jug ladies will be there and be yelling loud, but the rest of us need to be loud as well! I would really like to see the crowd come out tonight and be louder than the fireworks!!!! - which will be going off quite a bit this week!!! It will be cold - jumping up and down and yelling will help keep you warm! Go Tornadoes!
  5. If Marion wins and Alcoa wins this week, then Marion would come to Alcoa because Alcoa is the higher seed. If Boyd and Alcoa wins - Alcoa travels to Boyd because they are both 1 seeds and it is Alcoa's year to travel.
  6. Actually I think Fulton is a yes - but not sure about AE. We will have Maryville, Loudon, Fulton maybe as 1,2,3 and I'm not sure from there, but there was no mention of AE. Pretty sure DB is a no. There was talk earlier with Clinton, but not sure about them either.
  7. This was not an all or nothing situation. He has been doing both for two years. Concessions have been made to enable him to do both. He doesn't do spring and summer practices like the rest of the team and doesn't have full practices now to allow him to go to soccer practice. I don't know of anyone else on the team that this has been done for - all that was asked in return was that he play on Friday nights! As I understand it - he made a choice - and it wasn't football.
  8. What "players" are on here saying they can't be beat? I don't think any "players" are on here saying that - fans maybe - but not "players." They are too busy getting ready to play football tonight - period. They are focused on one game and one game only right now. Our fans are just as proud of Alcoa as you are for your team - that doesn't make us "arrogant" when we believe in our team as your believe in yours. We understand more than anyone that you have to take one game at a time and if we should be so fortunate to meet up with your team in the burro - Then I will be the most "arrogant" Alcoa fan you will see!
  9. It's official - CG and Alcoa will be battling it out on Thursday night at 7:00, not Friday - so make the necessary changes to your schedule and come early to get a good seat!
  10. Yes - freshman game at 5:00pm (I'm not sure who they are playing) it was already scheduled. Varsity at 7:30pm
  11. The game between Alcoa & Rockwood has been moved to Thursday, October 23 at 7:30pm.
  12. does anyone know what tylers top college choices are. its just me but id like to see him in the big blue with randall
  13. I havent heard much but who else is thinking about Tyler Robinson being the 2a mr football?
  14. The correct date of the Loudon game is Thursday, Oct. 30. We won't be playing on Halloween - it was changed after some of the schedules were already printed up.
  15. Just a note to let everyone know - the game this Friday with Booker T will begin at 7:00pm instead of 7:30. [/b]
  16. The Helmet was not bought by the Fire Department - it was bought by the Alcoa Football Booster Club. Some of the firemen that were there assisted in the putting up and taking down of the helmet, but this was a result of the booster club parents wanting to show this team and this city that we are so very proud of the achievements of these young men, past and present and future! It has been in the works for a year and it was better than we could have ever imagined!
  17. Sam was "playing possum"!!! No - he was out of town for a family obligation
  18. I was at the scrimmage on saturday and the score was not tied at 14! Alcoa scored 6 times and MoWest scored 3 times! Alcoa started a little rough, but finished very well. When Alcoa scored on MoWest's second defense - it was Alcoa's second offense! The first offenses and defenses seemed to be pretty well matched, I wouldn't say "Alcoa must be down" - it didn't seem that way from where I was sitting!
  19. I agree - you have to cultivate your programs from an early age. The Alcoa Tornadoes just loaded the bus for Murfreesboro with the entire high school and others sending them off from the high school, the bus then goes around the corner and there is the entire middle school lined up cheering them on - then you go down the hill to the elementary school and the kids are lined up around the entire elementary school for the team to come around and shake their hands!!!! Wow!!! Why would you not want to grow up to be an Alcoa Tornado!!! It starts with the peewees and grasshoppers - then middle school and high school. Alcoa has a long tradition of great players, great coaches and great community support.
  20. Good Luck South Pittsburg! Alcoa will be pulling for you to bring back the gold ball to East Tennessee!!!
  21. Good Luck to Falcons! Alcoa will be pulling for you to bring home the 3A Gold Ball to East Tennessee!!!!!
  22. Wow! So much Hate! I'm a little surprised that our "too hype" pre-game chant has offended so many! If I'm not mistaken there were a couple of other teams we played this year - either Rockwood, Loudon or Sweetwater that also had chants - and I wasn't offended by them? I don't care what their pre-game chant is - whatever it takes to get them up for the game. I just hope that Alcoa is focused on the task at hand and can come ready to play 4 quarters of football on Friday night! Are you ready? yeah!
  23. I don't need to work on my math - you need to read better! I said "most" of the players on this team. The majority of this team are in the sophomore and freshman classes, so that would put them in middle school during the "Reid era". It seems to me that GP needs to focus on the task at hand and quit whining about the past.
