nothing done to this guy bc memphis is its own little entity that really isnt relative to the rest of tn. we know that. coaches there could not get a job anywhere else. that is fact. the only thing they have is talented players. you think people who voted for obama are going to scream for one of their own to be fired? heck just ban all memphis teams from the state and let their city championship count as their state tourney. it means more to them anyhow.

it will never be equitable regardless of how it is implemented because the "top 8" teams in the state will not always play in it. if the state wasn't so expansive you could move teams around...then you might have a chance to get the best quality teams in the thing...

in most states that is the first round after the district. i agree with your statement. first round of the state in tn begins in the substate round...

i don't believe any team deserves a 2nd or 3rd chance in any state playoff...that is the beauty of tournament play. now here is my next question...when does the state tournament really begin...in the final 8 or the 1st round of the regions?

i have studied the florida model. of course that is a much larger state with 8 classes. they only take district champs and runnerups.this eliminates teams that really do not deserve to be there and eliminates 1st round byes which i personally hate. state playoffs consist of a field of 32 in each class....quarters,semis,elite 8 the final 4. much like the ncaa. only thing i dont like about it is the same arguement many have stated on here. all games are played at a home school location. the final 4 is the only stage of the tourney that is played at a neutral site. you are allowed only 1 loss and that is in the district finals.

no more final 8. make it a final 4 tourney. no losses in the regions allowed.

i think any friendship player who won the title last year would strongly disagree with that statement sir...

typical football "coachspeak". heard it a million times from many others. you still gotta win...you still gotta put up with parents...you still gotta put up with boosters...and you still gotta put the right kids in uniform. this could turn out great...and again it could just turn in to another coach's graveyard. he certaily has the credentials...now let us see the action behind the words.gotta say this...i would be much more excited if all those titles came in texas and florida...instead of kentucky.

problem with this is they obviously had his resume and didn't hire him on the spot. he will have to prove he can win in tn. ky puts an emphasis on hs basketball don't they? if memory serves me lebanon has hired a couple of coaches with ky ties before and they were 2 of the worst coaches record wise in school history. still state titles are state titles. best of luck. looks like the folks at least want to hire the right people.

good post. it is all about a council of 2 or 3 possibly with the county mayor involved. they run the coaching show. all you got to do is look at the situation. over 30 apps for the football job including those with state experience. no coach. over 30 apps including thomas from shelbyville who made the finals a few years ago. they hire the soccer coach from wilson central as hc. baseball i know nothing about and nobody knows this guy other than he as a jv coach in nashville and he did save someone's life. just have heard some bad things about how the program is being run.as to ms sloan i hear she runs a very tight academic ship but cares nothing about athletics. bottom line you have a new school with great facilities. lebanon is located in an area that would attract great candidates from all over the south and the midwest. the app pool should be crammed packed with great coaches. yet we have what we have. anyone want to disagree with me?

don't you have a ton of those teach for america interns in metro? these people do not have full professional licenses only 2 year transitional licenses.

MK would be as good of a choice as Medley...he has that dumb pigeon toed walk of Medley's downpat plus he is a heckuva lot more personable than the so called "Little General"...yep I am all for Iron Mike.

agreed...lebanon needs a winner or someone who has been a part of a winning program...this guy may have been a world class poster here on coacht.com but as a head coach of a 6a team i don't think so.lebanon is in enough trouble... in a tough region...no i don't think this guy fits the bill...

I believe BCS refers to football...not basketball...and I am not denegrating his move to hs...but why the MCS and why Central? Surely he could have found a much more high profile hs job if he is such a "wow" coach.

Is it really true that Wharton wants to merge the county and city schools and let this Cash character run them? I bet that is really going over well with the folks in Shelby County.

how do they hire their coaches is it from within or outside. i hear the turnover rate is horrible with some schools replacing at least half of their faculty from the previous year. is it that bad?

i think this is going to be a disaster but who knows with the liberalization of our society and the reversal of gender roles this might work...after all most female athletes would rather play for a man because they are more tougher and disciplined than their male counterparts. this could work.
