  1. Not a big fan of Allen, but all things being said he did a decent job with the Pounders this season. Central can and should be competitive. The right guy could do well here. But that guy has to want to be at Central and not look at the job as a stepping stone or layover between other jobs.
  2. No sympothy here for SM. Just botherd by the TSSAA and their willingness to target some schools and give others a free pass.
  3. The real issue here is the TSSAA. They are very selective in how and when they choose to enforce their so -called policy. Pick a school....oh, I have one, how about Ooltewah High. They have been taking kids from Central High for years . Appeals to the TSSAA have gone unanswered. J. Smith of UT fame walked right by CHS each day on his way to Ooltewah. This issue is an adult issue and it starts with the cowards at TSSAA. Signals success and the impact they have had on the private schools is the reason they are now a target. As adults, we should all offer an apology to the children that have been hurt by this action.
  4. Several quality applicants in the mix.
  5. Congrats to Signal Mountain! A great run through the playoffs with big wins over TC and FC, today's blowout was explanation point on a great season. That win back in September over SP was another big part of your overall season resume. BTW, all you guys complaining about classification need to give it a rest. I don't remember any Pirate fans crying about their 1A team going up against our 4A Pounders. It's 11 on 11 fellas. Well today looked more like 11 on 3. Congrats again on the big win and state championship!
  6. Learn your football. UTC is DI and has been since 1977 or so.
  7. That's too bad. It was starting to look like he was getting things headed in the right direction at CHS. I would think that coach Barger's successor will find the shop in better order as a result his hard work. Go Pounders! So much for the brotherly grudge match with Seq. Co. in August.
  8. Roy Dillard rules! Roy, I hope those folks in Knoxville have some hot water for your thermos.
  9. Our team will travel to Greenville with pride and determination. All of us Pounder fans are glad to be back in the playoffs for the first time in several years and are looking forward to the game. Coach Barger will have the team ready action. Thanks for all the kind words lionfan.
  10. Despite losing our first game last week after being ranked in the top 10 for the first time in a long time, this young Pounder squad still has lots of pride. South Pittsburg brought an excellent team to Hwy 58 and I expect nothing less from Red Bank this week over on Morrison Springs Road. Playing two likely state champions back to back will test the pride and determination of this squad.
  11. Seemed to me the game was decided on the line of scrimmage, plus a big comming out party for the SP quarterback Robinson - a great performance. If the Pounders can get through next week with thier pride intact, a strong finish to the season and a playoff apperance becomes a reality.
  12. All right now Pirate fans. Am I the only one that thinks ya'll are gettin just a wee bit cocky? This game still has to be played. See ya Friday night!
  13. This is one of the more interesting games played out on the highway (that's highway 58 for you SP folks)in my limited memory. Has the makings of a great matchup. Two undefeated teams, small school vs large school, the valley vs the city, and two tradition rich programs that have never met to my knowledge. Plenty of seating for the visiting fans. You can also enter in the back gate behind the visitors bleachers. Have a safe trip to Harrison and lets all hope this rain moves on out of here.
  14. Slowly but surely, the Pounders seem to be making the turn. A great win last night. Stay focused and take care of business next week.
  15. Probably not the best game played by either team. The early season jitters, cramps, etc. were evident on both sidelines. I was impressed with the big turnout from Dunlap. If I''m not mistaken, Coach D. Barger is undefeated at Finley Stadium. Good luck next week to the Pounders!
