Is this not the same Goble that hit in the .460 range and is being recruited by PAC 10, SEC, & Conference USA schools along with being ranked with Baseball America? I have not seen him play this season but I have watched this kid play in some big national tournaments (Florida, California, Arizona while scouting) and he was a better hitter than fielder. We have him on our Area Code tryout list which is a big deal with no more than 8-10 Tennessee players being invited to the tryouts. The finals will be played @ Blair Field home field of Long Beach State.

With Baylor & BGA receiving automatic bids to the state tournament for winning the regular season region, do they receive the 1st seed from their regions or do they have to win the region tournament to receive the #1 seed?

Yes, you would need a pitching staff and not one or two men doing all of the pitching. The coaching staffs would have to work and developing more pitching.

This format is not a true test of a teams ability. If a team has one great pitcher (ala David Price) and two others that are average at best they can still get to the state by pitching the stud on Monday & Friday. Would it not be best to play the region games on Monday & Tuesday and play a best 2 of 3 series with one game on Friday and 2 games on Saturday with the winner advancing to the state?

Monday & Friday are must win games and I am sure that Mike Morrison will throw Johnson in both games. The Wednesday game is for seeding only. JMO, but the region games should be played on Monday & Tuesday with the Sub-State games being a best 2 of 3 series starting on Friday evening and concluding on Saturday.

There was an article in the NASHVILLE CITY PAPER about two parents getting into some type of fight during a regional game. These so called parents are real class acts!!!!!!! The players are acting better than their parents.

Being a great high school player and being drafted out of high school are too different things. The MLB scouts are looking at how a player projects in the future and not how they are playing now. If you are a 6'4"+ & 200 pound LHP that can throw 90+ you are going to get every opportunity to show what you can do on the professional level. If you are a 5'9" & 175# position player that can run a 6.6 60 yd dash that has a BA of .575 you are probably going to have to prove yourself on the college level first. Go back and research the draft for the past 5 years and you will find very few high school players drafted that are less than 6'1" & 195 pounds. It may not be fair but it is the facts of the MLB draft.

I am sad to inform the wrestling community that James Russell died @ the age of 43. James was a State Runner-up from Memphis where he wrestled for Memphis Catholic and he has been helping with the Baylor program for the last few years.

IMO, the Instucto Swing is much better than a Tee because it prevents kids from being able to drop their hands and it forces a short compact swing. The only problem is that they are not cheap.

OB% (On base percentage) and Slugging Percentage are the most important batting stastics. Most high schools do not keep those stats but they can tell you what type of hitter you were looking at.

I have been the business most of my life and know how Gannett operates. I hope it is not true but don't be shocked.

Times are changing in Murfreesboro with you now being nothing more than a suburb of Nashville and it's not for the best. The Daily News Journal is owned by Gannett Corp. and they are a huge corporation with little if any local people in the decision making corporate role. They feel that it is in their best interest to have the paper printed in a central location like they do with most of their news publications. Don't be shocked if you loose your local paper in the next few years and they try to force you to take the TENNESSEAN. Look at how poorly the TENNESSEAN covers high school sports and that is what you have to look forward to. The problem is that while the population grows in the United State fewer people than ever read the newspaper on a daily basis.

Stan, Again it is your opinion that they have recruited based on what some people have told you. People have told me the same thing but I have zero proof other than what someone tells me. In fact I have found that many people try to make themself feel good by saying that their "Little Janice/Joe" was recruited to school X,Y, or Z for athletics when in fact they were not.
