Competitive and winning state championships are two very different things. How many state championships has Coach Brown won? Is Coach (Mr) Brown not in adminstration at Mt. Juliet? Maybe he could show Purvis how to win champioships.

Good luck with getting any type of posted schedule!!!!!!!!! The schedule for USA & AAU wrestling events to be held in Tennessee should be posted 12 months (no less than 8 months) in advance of the tournment. Know one seems to know anything at the state level for USA Wrestling! Sometimes I wonder how they keep their jobs with their organizational skills. Yes, this was intended to get your attention Mr. President!!!!!!

If Mt. Juliet wants to win a state championship they will get Mel Brown to be their head coach.

It's truly amazing what a good coach can do with a "down & out" program like Bartlett was.

Not a chance that Maryville would go to Daphne or Hoover.

The TSSAA has proposed having a 2nd dead period for all sports and the wrestling dead period that they have proposed would be July 8-August 18. With the Cadet & Junior Nationals scheduled for July 20-26 in Fargo, ND will this not hurt the wrestlers wishing to participate in this great event? This is nothing more than a COMMUNIST RULE that is trying to punish any coach or team that is trying to out work their competition. If a coach or team wants to take some time off that is great but why do we need legislate what our athletes and coaches do during the offseason. Where would Dan Gable be if he had not been able to out work his competition? We use to reward and look up to those individuals that worked hard and were successful but it seems like we are now trying to punish them.

Hoosierdad, I can't beleive that you would refer to the G-MAN as a joke!!!!!!!! He may decide to have your legs broken (he would not dare to get his hands dirty) for that statement. Would someone answer the following question: What does the G-man know about athletics? Was he ever any type of athlete in high school or college?

How does a school abuse the open zone policy. In Nashville all the student has to do is take a class that is not offered at his public school and they all offer at least one class that the other high schools do not offer. In other counties that have an open zone policy all the student must do is furnish their own transportation and they can attend any school in their county. In the magnet schools they openly recruit the middle & elementary school students with their overall academic & athletic programs and it is legal. Do we even need to get into what happens in the Memphis city schools? If BA wins the court battle you and I both know that BA will call most of the shots and help redefine the TSSAA.

Most high schools in Tennessee have fields while Battle Ground Academy has a Baseball stadium, clubhouse & indoor facility. The Smith family was very generous and took care of the BGA baseball program.
-
The newspaper said that Andy Bass (SR LHP) took the loss for BGA. I have been told that Moore & Isaacs (both 2008) are the #1 & #2 on the team.

Why would the man not be serious? FYI, there is no official Team Tennessee® like we once knew. The team was named by one individual and he selects the wrestlers that he wishes to have on his team and decides which tournaments they will enter. IMO, that same individual needs to change the name of his team due to the amount of confusion that it creates. Is Team Tennessee Wrestling not a registered trademark of the Tennessee chartered chapter of USA Wrestling?

Is your QB, Cordell staying or did he follow Smith to Science Hill?

Should it be that you allow a school with a great football program (like BA) the opportunity to play up in classification but stay down for sports like volleyball & track?

Class of 2008 (in no specific order) Navery Moore (Battle Ground Academy) Top USA prospect in class of 2008. Sonny Gray (Smyrna) Very good pitcher (low 90's) but has to make a decision on baseball or football Ben Burgess (Brentwood) stong RHP that throws in the 88mph range Robbie Kurtz (Lipscomb) LHP that is tall & slender but could throw in the 88mph range with some strength David Isaacs (Battle Ground Academy) LHP that is small in stature and throws in the 87 range but has great control of 3 pitches. IMO he is a better high school pitcher than his partner Moore but Moore projects better due to size. Frank Addleman (Montgomery Bell Academy) big strong player that throws in the mid to upper 80's. With some work this kid could be the real deal.

If OS was trying to knock her down they did a poor job. If you are trying to take someone out you put them on the floor where they don't get up.

What were the results of the national high school qualifier and the AAU tournaments held at Father Ryan this past weekend. I was told that the tournament started late due to an automobile accident that closed I40 for over 12 hours but that was the last info. that I received.

I have heard that the principal has not only let the football coach go but has now fired the basketball coach. What is up with this guy? Is he some kind of loose cannon?

BGA has a great field, seating, concessions, and indoor facility. The only problem that I noticed is that the clubhouse was much too small. I only counted lockers for about 21 players and it would be nice if they could have had enough room for varsity, jv, and middle school players. Just a little too small of a lockeroom and shower area for what I would want.

Look men, I am for everyone being back together but I do understand both sides of the issue. I can see in the very near future where everyone is placed back together with four classifications (I would like to see 3) for football basketball, baseball, softball & girls VB. It would be great if track & field, wrestling, cross country, golf, tennis, & bowling only had one division.
-
They all want to be back together in a District or Region so that they have an easier time with schedules and they could eliminate the long travel. When schools are forced to travel 4 hours for regular season games and get home at 2:00am then something is wrong with high school athletics.
-
I am all for just 3 classifications in football, basketball and baseball but I also understand the problems that some of the rual 1A schools are dealing with and it's not the kids it's the hiring pool. The rual areas have a very difficult time finding teachers much less good coaches that know how to build successful programs. Most of the time they will only have 3 or 4 football coaches for all of their kids and they are lucky if more than one of those coaches knows the difference between a nickle package and a split back veer. With most 1A private schools being in large metro areas they have a much larger application pool to select teachers & coaches from than the small schools in rual towns. All successful programs have great leadership.

No, it would be better for some schools than it is now. When the private schools could only have 3 student/athletes participating in football (before the D1/D2 split) that is all they had now some of them have 20+ players receiving some financial aid. Keep in mind that if someone receives $100.00 of financial aid they are receiving aid and would have to be included into the 3 student/athletes that are playing football. I think that I am correct in saying their was no workstudy programs before the split but I could be wrong. As things stand now D2 football is the WILD WEST and most anything goes. The D2 schools that do not have the financial resources to compete are being left behind in football and it's easy to tell which schools don't have alot of resources. Take a look at the big D2 schools websites and look at what their endowments are and you will see that three or four are so far ahead that the others will never catch them. When some schools have 20 football coaches along with unlimited financial aid and others have 8 coaches and only a few kids on financial aid something is wrong. The most fair thing to do is have 4 divisions in football and basketball. All private schools must play in 2A or above and schools that offer financial aid must play in 3A or 4A. If a private school begins a football program they may play in 1A for four years to assist them in building their program but after four years they will be moved to 2A. Drop the multiplier because it is probably not legal. Like it or not if BA wins the legal battle they will hold all of the cards and be the major player in how the TSSAA operates in the future.

Does Christian Brothers have 1700 boys in the 9th -12th grade? Does MBA have 924 boys in the 9th-12th grade? I thought that CBHS had about 1000 in the high school and MBA had around 500 boys in the high school.
-
Not saying that you are wrong but in the last 10-15 years I have never heard of a student/athlete going from a public to a private being allowed to participate unless they transfered in the 9th grade and they did not have a high school athletic record. I have been told that you can go from a public to a private (boarding school) and you will be eligible if you are a boarding student. For the life of me I don't know what the difference would be?

Who is on the Beech schedule this year? They did very well last season until they caught hot bats of the Franklin team that was lead by Liddle in the tournament.
