  1. Anyone have scores on these games or the middle TN games from tonight?
  2. Games like this present a particular dilemma for coaches. While true that this game was not an elimination game, the byproducts include, momentum, confidence, injury and seeding. Both teams are smart enough and experienced enough to realize that the real tournament begins next week. There were moments of incredible intensity on both sides: Keepers crashing into a pile of players; tackles where the thump is felt 60 yards away; sliding tackles; every inch contested for most of 80 minutes. You cannot can tell me that the game wasn't important to the players on both sides and that Baylor didn't want to win that game just as badly as Webb did. Win or lose, each team will be facing a top notch opponent next week in Murfreesboro who's intensity and passion will be ratcheted up a notch because it is now the final rounds-win or go home! Each of the 8 teams qualifying are capable of winning it all. Best of luck to our fellow East Region Rival! Not related to this tread, but on a similar topic: I really feel for my counterparts at CAK/Catholic and Bearden/Farragut. For the second time in less than one week, these teams are playing each other in similar situation we faced in playing Baylor. How high to get your team knowing the situation? Balancing winning/losing verses injury, risk of travel for the sub-state game, etc while knowing that this is not the elimination game and that there is a fair chance of still one more matchup next week. I'll take my one game and be glad it's done with nobody hurt.
  3. So what are the matchups for Thursday? And out west, I see that at least one quarterfinal game has been played (ECS over St George 3-1). What are the other matchups?
  4. Science Hill is a good example. In previous years there was always so much talk and their style of play was such that nobody wanted to play them. Many teams simply refused. This year, no talk, great to play. I'll bet they have no trouble scheduling games in the future. Problem solved.
  5. Carter needed to make up a district game and had to cancel.
  6. Coach (I) went there only after a Bearden player turned the speaker directly towards our bench. Coach Turner and I are fine. It is kind of obnoxious, but I can understand that why he doesn't want just anyone handling it. Just point it across the field and away from us next time. Bearden played an excellent second half to beat us. We had our chances but couldn't quite deliver. I hope we can learn a thing or two from this game.
  7. Why would Baylor do that? I think they have alot more character than you're giving them credit for.
  8. I think they coach club, because they love coaching, and they get to work with the players they choose for 8-9 months a year whereas is HS, their team comes from a limited pool, they have some silly rules dictated to them, and unless their team is elite (top 8 in their division), only get to work with their players for about 3 months.
  9. I think he is a club coach watching his players as they compete for their various HS teams.
  10. Jon Fuqua, just now returning to form after being injured.
  11. 2-2 Final McCallie scored on a cross early. Webb responded with a great shot by Alex Hutchins. Then McCallie again on a serve to the middle where the Striker just burried it. All in the first half. In the second half, both teams had significant chances, including one off the crossbar for Webb. Then with under 2 min to go, Webb punched one in to equalize.

    Games

We usually have you on our schedule, but I can see that you have your 15 games already for this year. We could add another game, but finding a date at this point in the season is tough. We'll be sure to hook up next season.
  13. Tom On behalf of the entire Webb team, I offer our support and prayers. He seems like a fine young man who played fearlessly. I know the player who collided with David was concerned for him as well. Please keep us updated on his progress.
  14. It was quite a game. Indeed, bodies and body parts strewn on the field. Both teams had quality chances and one had the feeling that the first team to make an error would end up losing. In the end, each defense came up with a big play just when it looked like an opportunity was opening up. Man for man, I've not seen a team that plays as hard as CAK. I'm exhausted and didn't get hit once. Now both teams turn their attention to the region/district rivals on Friday. What a week.
