    winning

on here, i see all the time statemente like "it wasn't really a 5-0 game" or "So and so really outplayed whosoever but still lost by 2 just because of a few unlucky plays". or "if that ball that hit the post just squeezed in it would have been a different game" stink it up, you lost 5-0 stink it up, you lost even though you had possession (which makes you look even worse) stink it up, the ball didnt go in I am just so tired of people putting emphasis on things that don't really matter. To win a soccer game what do you have to do? the ball has to go in the back of the net of your opposing team's goal more than it goes into your team's goal. that is it, the team that does that is the better team for those 90 minutes. No matter if they only touched the ball 3 times in the whole entirety of the game, they are the better team because they did what they were supposed to do and the other team pitty-farted around trying to be pretty. I do not see where possession gets a team anywhere when it comes down to it. Or even shots on goal, it goes down to scoring, people need to stop thinking about what 'could've been' and start thinking about how they can get the ball into the back of the net so that that 'could've been' turns into a 'it was" all this talk about it we outplayed a team, and had the ball in their half and around their 18 for most of the second half but the ball just wouldnt go in is a bunch of hooey. Take this recent Farragut/Oak Ridge game, i thought Farragut was going to win before the game however, i was surprised to learn that Farragut loss 5-2, a pretty bad beating. Then i read how Farragut outplayed Oak Ridge and all this other stuff (id have to write it down or something). How do you think you 'outplayed' them? you lost therefore you got outplayed simple as that. Then Bearden just demolished South Doyle 6-0, then you see that "it wasnt really a 6-0 game" well, if Bearden scored 6 goals and South Doyle scored 0, then it was indeed a 6-0 game. It seems that people are forgetting what aspect of the game really makes a team better (scoring). It seems that people think that passing makes a team better and that way of thinking is not only wrong but misleading and dangerous.
  2. some say Bearden does the same thing and yet Bearden won. i think it will be a close game that will go into the second half for a winner, but i too think Farragut will win but by 1 i think direct kicks and other stopped plays will play a big part in this game.
  3. i for one see Bearden beating both of these teams.. Bearden is not as tired as people think. I would like to think that with such high scoring games (and shut outs) that they were able to put in their other players and rest up. I think Bearden will win every district game this year and go in the post season ranked 1st in the district. i do nto see how some people think that such a consistent and strong team will falter against the teams that have proven to be more competetive but not at the same level yet. and Bearden's defense is looking stronger and stronger with these low scores against them and shut outs. and it seems Bearden always finds the net. p.s. if a team is to score on them i think it will be South Doyle because that Nate kid is pretty tricky, he is like a little samurai out there.
  4. what are some big games this Friday i know that Bearden plays Mcminn county Gtown Houston plays MBA i think both of these games shouold be well played out matches, any more? predictions on those above? or others? how do you all think Gtwon Houston will match up with MBA?
  5. however, even the great Yoda makes mistakes with knowing who is who or what is what, Yoda did not see that Palpatine was indeed the emperor and Dark Lord of the Sith until it was too late. he had his suspicions, but ultimately made a mistake. Just like you. however, he also makes the right decision, like when he felt the Jedi being assassinated and then predicted that the clones behind him were in on the operation and killed them. Just like you find something out about a team (the plot) and use it to make a prediction. this was fun. /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />
  6. i for one am totally against pk's. pk's have nothing to do with the game at all, except for who has the most lucky shots and whose goalkeeper guesses right. how can a hard fought battle of 90 minutes, more if there are overtime periods,be put on the hands of 5 people from each team and the goalkeeper, when it is a team sport that is supposed to be played on the field, not in the 18 with no defenders at all. I think that pk's should be gotten rid of entirely, it shows no consistency with the game of soccer. i would rather have a 2-on 1 starting at midfield then a shoot-out, at least that is more realistic to the game the game has been played long enough with ties and ties a apart of the game. Either your team didnt get the job done or the other team didnt get the job done i dont think we should be giving teams a second chance just because we dont want a winner. It puts more pressure on the players to win in a certain amount of time because there is no extra time afterwards.
  7. who is this USJ? what has happened to father Ryan? and lastly, how many seniors is Blackman carrying this year?
  8. yep your right, i did use your methods, but oh well. I think Bearden's field is short, but still regulation size. and Walker is getting older and stronger and with it a longer punt. i just don't know if it makes a difference where the field is, people still have to drive to get to the Farragut school, what the difference if it is just 5 more miles, for some people it might even be less of a distance. Oak Ridge high school has there football stadium like 2 or 3 miles from the school and they get lots of fans for those games, granted they have a ghood program. I am sure the school would lose some fans, but i don't think it would be that drastic of a change, besides Watt Rd. is right off the interstate and any one else that wants to go there might show up from the schools that travel to the away games, like Bearden or Maryville.
  9. i heard that Bearden is actually possessing a little more than usual, once again i don't know for my self because i have not seen them play. it is very smart to build a field based on a team's style of play. It might be the ugliest soccer in the world to watch but when it comes down to it the team that scoress the most wins, and Bearden seems to do that alot. they have a game plan and a game style. Soccer is a very complex gaem that can be 'played' in countless ways, just because they do nto try and string 8 passes in a row and then get a turn over doesn't mean anything except for that they realize that you dont get points for pretty soccer. Let me ask you a question, what is the main goal of a soccer team in any competitive soccer game? let me answer for you, it is to score more goals than the other team while trying to get socred on the least amount possible. There really is no other answer. Bearden happens to be great at this they realize that you dont get points for a pretty back heel, or stringing 5 consecutive passes togather, or by switching the field of play. So to play soccer is to have a team that plays in such a way that gives them the best possible chance of winning every game they play while following the rules of the game. Seeing as how Bearden is what 11 and 1 i think they play the game quite well.
  10. where can one find district standings and the such? or even schedules for that matter? how long until district and all the post season stuff starts up? it seems we have a pretty strong and more balanced district.
  11. does anyone know who won? or have a list of players for each team or at least some of them was it a good game? physical?
  12. please dont twist my words, i did not say that you yourself was rich or make any accusation of that being a bad thing if you were, i said that the town was and seeing as how Farragut has had state titles in soccer they should build a field. Soccer fields are not always on the schools ground. Oak Ridge had their field digged up and played off the school grounds. Fix the Watt Road Fields and use those, or find a better place, you can't tell me there is no way that Farragut can make a field, i meant that Farragut is seen as the rich part of the area, but i mean feel free to nick pick every little thing trying to make your argument by putting a bad face on the other's argument, very cheap tactic and you hide it so well. are you going to say "how do i downsize other's arguments? all i am doing is trying to make my point, and i dont like it when people say Farragut is part of Knoxville"? are Farragut fans too good to stand? do they not own chairs they can bring? since when are bleacher's an important part of the game of soccer? is the field built primarily for the player's or the fans? Bearden did not have too much room either to build their own soccer field, but guess what, they made due with what they could come up with, if that means not having alot of space for bleacher's but have a field to play on, thats what they did; or maybe they didnt have enough money, but tehy still made the sacrifice of the stadium sitting. how do the farragut players feel knowing that the school or city doesnt think enough of them to get them a soccer field, i bet they feel bad walking onto a field that isnt even regulation size and is used for the game of football, do they feel good setting up the goals under a field goal post? how can they play for their city and school that doesnt even give them a field?
  13. A 4 man defense should not be an offensive trap, it should be based on pressure and shiftings, if the ball is on the left, the left center slides, the right center is diagonal of the left center, and the right back is diagonal to the right center, making him the last defender, since alot of the players are on one side, it is up to the midfield to play smart defense and pressure with support, the 4 man defense is high pressure and the forwards have to take the drop away, this is formed to keep the ball in their own offensive third, so you are right when you say that the 4 man defense is used to push the play forward, but it is pushed forward gradually over possession and if they lose possession the high pressure tries to make a quick turn over by making a player make a decision quicker than he would like. it is very effective if played right. and i love watching effective teams use it. at least that's my take on the 4 man defense it seems there are may takes on it and i think that is a good thing
  14. a goal is a goal my friend, since you have no friends i decided i be your friend, i didnt see it but it is ridiculous to get mad at announcers for doing there job, what do you think they should do say "yep, a mistake goal by Bearden that should not have happened, sorry Farragut bad luck, maybe it should only be counted as a half goal." at least Bearden has a designated SOCCER field i dont know if it is still true but Farragut was seen as the 'rich' part of the city and they still dont have a soccer field.
  15. but lets not forget that Bearden was having an off season, losing to Oak Ride 5-2 themselves. the 3-1 game against Oak Ridge was a very close game indeed with a goal from a 60 yard clear (or something liek that, very far away) that bounced over the keepers head on the second bounce, and Oak Ridge had a goal called back from a hand ball on the player crossing the ball, pretty wierd. as for the other games their can be no question, you can say that Oak Ridge was a better team against other teams maybe, but considering that Farragut beat them by 7 and then shut them out (no matter how) while scoring 5 points in the championship game pretty much proves they were the better team. (amd yes the championship game was played on a humongous field, i didnt see the game, but i have seen the field and it is pretty big).
