    IMAC

I guess that is showing my age. I also heard that SD lost their cage to Knox Co. Don't know much about the Morr E & W teams or Cherokee, do they have anything?
  2. Solo-mon 2

    IMAC

Seymour still has the cage above the Basketball court, doesn't it? They put it in when I graduated from there in 86. It was not a whole lot, but it was a place to hit indoors and throw.
  3. Bump Any news lately around the District?
  4. I know each of the Seymour boys above, Newport-hard nose game changer, Timmerman-was hurt last year, but should be a real factor in IMAC on the mound! He knows HOW to pitch!, Weaver-played last year with a bum knee, tremendous power! I would say closer to low 80s, Funderburg-lots of potential, was off last year, but the potential is still there. Seymour will be tough in the IMAC, don't underestimate them! Sevier Co did have Michael Farragut sign with King College this past week. We have 5 or 6 others talking to schools now. More on those when they ink.
  5. All I can say is WOW!!!!!!! What a Game on any level!!! Congrats to a very good Bearden Team! This definitely was not a 1 vs 8 seeded game!!! Bearden's QB was okay, and it did make a difference. SC outgained Bearden by approx 175 yards total offense. Each Team had 2 turnovers with SC scoring 14 and Bearden getting 7 points from those. Big play was pass at the end of first half that tied score at 21. SC did score 13 points in the last 6 minutes that made it a very tight game! I totally agreed with the decision to go for 2! Coach Brewer is one of the best Coaches in TN and one of the best all around people I know!!! He is not Just a Christian, He leads a Christian Life!!!!!! Congratulations to the Smoky Bears on the first undefeated season in school history!!!! I am very PROUD to be a Smoky Bear Fan!!!!!!
  6. I stand corrected...we did play WB out of District, so that makes 3 6A teams we played. I was used to them being in our District, sorry. The "hump" may come into play if you have never been there, but Bearden has. I still say this one comes down to turnovers. I still have not heard about Bearden's QB....is he okay? Go SMOKY BEARS!!!
  7. Solly, To cover a couple of your questions.... The TSSAA with the realignment created SC's schedule. SC had only 2 out of conference games, DB & Knox Halls. SC played 8 5A teams and 2 6A (DB & Jeff Co) teams. SC and Halls has developed into a friendly rivalry which was worth continuing. MO West & East along with Seymour are nothing to laugh at! They all could make some noise in the 5A playoffs!! The Seymour game was a BIG Rivalry game, throw the records out and put on the gloves! It was messy and damp on the field! We were fortunate to win, but we did have 3 TDs called back. Seymour has a very tough defense that I think will help them keep things interesting with TN High. The only thing about the refs that I did question was the late hits on our QB. They called us for one(which kept the game tying drive alive), but not one on them. Now a little on SC..... SC has probably the most underated QB in the state!! Zach Flynn can flat out throw the football! We don't have GREAT Receivers, but we do have quite a few of GOOD receivers. We are very explosive on offense. Defense has been bend but don't break. We lack DL deph and it shows at times, but we do get fired up and play well! We have probably the best group of athletes that SC has had in quite a few years. This compliments a VERY WELL RESPECTED CHRISTIAN HEAD COACH & STAFF! FAITH, FIGHT, FINISH! Is our Motto! That being said... Bearden may have some success running the ball, they did last year. Young is a very talented running back that we know first hand! SC should be able to put points on the board also. I think it will be a shootout with the team limiting turnovers winning! We have heard that Bearden's QB is banged up. This could change some things also. This should be a second round game instead of first round! Look at our POD, half of the teams are ranked in the top 10 in the state! I did not see Bearden a 8 seed, but a 6 seed ahead of DB & Oak Ridge. But you are in the playoffs! You are supposed to be the cream of the teams! Just wished the PODs were more evenly matched! GO SMOKY BEARS!!!!
  8. Okay guys....What is everyone bringing to the field this year? Very familar with Seymour and South Doyle, looking for feedback on the Original IMAC members. SC should be solid again this year. Defense depends on replacing SS and CF. We also need to have 1 or 2 more pitchers to step up. District games this year are back to back nights which is different than what we had in D4 AAA. Also looking forward to seeing and playing on many different fields this year! Go Smoky Bears!!
  9. I wish the Mo East team Best of Luck!! My thoughts on the game Friday..... It looked like East was loading the box to stop our running game. There were more times than not that the safety was within 8 yards of the line and single coverage on our receivers. I am not sure what films East got, but, as you found out, we are a passing team first, run second. We don't have One great receiver, but many GOOD receivers! When the adjustment was made, it looked almost like cover 2. But, the middle was still open for crossing routes. We finally figured out that your QB was going to keep the ball 90% of the time. That is when we finally took control. East looked very tough against the run! Offense show the explosiveness that I had heard about!! Good Luck next Friday! Go SMOKY BEARS!!!! We have a very tough bracket!
  10. SC 31 MW 3 Hats off to the WHOLE SC Team on this one! I don't think anyone saw this coming! Zach Flynn handling a wet ball & still putting up 220+ yards passing, the receiver core not dropping any, special teams play from Boo Foster, THE WHOLE DEFENSE! Man WHAT A GAME!!! We know what kind of team MW is! This is a big win for SC! My first time to see a game in Morristown, The turf field made it a lot easier to play in the rain! Good Luck to the Trojans the rest of the season! Way to go SMOKY BEARS!
  11. I can't question the holding calls or unsportsman like conduct calls. I think officials let TOO much language occur on the field anyway.....but I do question 1 call that was pivotal and a few NO CALLS. The late hit on the Seymour QB that kept their game tying field goal drive alive compared to NUMEROUS times I saw Zach Flynn release the ball and get hit late and no calls were made. I think b/c it happened in front of the Seymour bench is why it was called. If you let one team hit the QB, let both! Hats off to Seymour for staying in the game & coming back! Keagan Newport, GUTSY Game! Glad to see he was not hurt too bad! Wes White, Very Solid! #66 Nick, Very good DL prospect! Cody Watson, VERY Solid performance! Good Luck to the Eagles the rest of the way!
  12. Since you lost to both Farragut & Clinton, I am assuming that you mean SC is mediocre........ SC is a sleeper, they were knocking on the top 10 in the state this week. They have the weapons this year and heart! Be careful about calling a 4-0 team mediocre. Like what was posted earlier, we are measured by our records. Hope DB can turn it around. Good Luck to you all the rest of the way! GO SMOKY BEARS!!!!
  13. Zach Flynn - Sevier County I heard he put on a show at Smokies Showcase. Sevier County has a strong Senior Class (5 possible college signees) this year, led by Zach.
  14. You must be from S-D..... With a lot of these teams new to each other, how do all the other teams stack up for this coming year? SC lost 3 starters with 2 of our top pitchers graduating. We should be okay defensively (lost SS & CF) and very consistent at the plate. Our BIG question is pitching. The program has learned to win the last few years. We hope to build on this!
  15. LC would get the berth if FC finished behind them in the district is the way I have been reading this, right? LC1-9 beating FC at 1-9 or 0-10, then LC gets berth, but LC 1-9 beats FC with FC having 5-5 record, FC is the higher district seed, so FC gets berth, right?
  16. I see your point, but if you are going to publish PrepExtra teams for the area, it seems that you would at least want the stats for the area teams, wouldn't you think so? We had write ups in the paper also. We had 3 or 4 possible candidates for this team including a First team TBCA All State selection, but no consideration with this paper. If the excuse is going to be used that there is only 1 person doing the job & he just can't keep up, then I would say do not publish any Prepxtra teams, just try to keep up with articles & stats. You have to admit there were quite a few Farragut and Bearden players listed. They are all good, but there are other schools that have players deserving and mean more to their schools. Just my thoughts.
  17. Farragut is that good! We know personally, but I do agree with you about the abundance of Farragut players on the team. I guess they are choosing the team based on the stats the News Sentinel has received. It really appears to be a team for the schools that have a lot of backing and means of supplying stats via a laptop. I know our coach has called scores in on the way home, but he does not have a laptop or access to a fax immediately to send game stats. The way the News Sentinel is doing makes it really hard on coaches to get their kids noticed thru their source. Congrats to all that made it! I am not trying to take away from any of them!
  18. I tried to submit our stats to the News Sentinel & they frankly told me that they did not want them. Our coach had submitted stats last year & the News Sentinel messed them up. He did not submit them this year, so I called the Sentinel to get a fax number to send them to after the first print of the leaders. They said it was going to take too much time to input 15+ games into the format & that they needed them game by game. I keep the stats & could have provided this, but they basically said that it would do no good. I think this makes their list bogus since they do not have all stats, and don't accept them when offered. If you don't have a fax lap top scorebook in which to send stats immediately, they don't want them. Just my opinion on the News Sentinel.
  19. Contact Coach Traywick at Sevier Co @ 368-7648. We still have a few spots in some of our tourneys left.
  20. If I'm not mistaken, Coach Puleo has agreed to come back to coach the Governors.
  21. I'll need to get someone to move this for me to the Summer Baseball Section.... Sevier Co High School will be hosting tournaments May 29-30, June 5-7, June 12-14, June 19-21, & June 26-28. This is for 18-under travel or High School teams. Younger travel teams (17U, 16U) are welcome also. Cost is $250 + 1 dozen HS Baseballs. All games played at SCHS. 4 games. Max of 6 teams per weekend. Contact is Coach Lance Traywick @ 865-368-7648. We have a beautiful field and close proximity to Pigeon Forge. Come & see us!
