  1. I'm very glad this has begun to mature. I just want to make it clear that, first of all, IndyEagle09 is in no way affiliated with the IHS Baseball program and we want to take zero responsibility for what he feels the need to say on here and ask him/her to please stop saying ridiculous things. Secondly, no Eagle players will be writing on the message board any longer, therefore anything said that may be mistaken for a player from IHS, please be aware that it is coming from an outside source also not affiliated with the team itself. I love this district and its competitive nature every year. I wish everyone luck and I look forward to getting things started on the 9th.
  2. Lee is from Independence, 3 year starter at SS and Vandy commitment. Both very good ball players. Different styles so hard to compare.
  3. I like Lee and Kemp, both personal friends of mine, and I think they are definately two of the best position players in the district. But there are some position players being overlooked, espicially in the senior class, who fly under the radar and will be effective players. Matthew Young from Franklin will have to lead that team. Mike Handley at Ravenwood is an incredible defensive catcher. Matt Daffin and Blake Carden at Indy both have good sticks and will make some noise. But I'd like to hear some opinions on some of the pitchers in the district. I feel like we've got some great arms here.

    Signees?

Brooks Oursler- Franklin Road Academy- Ole Miss Good ball player
  5. Josh Lee.. or Rob Rowland Just kidding, expect a big year from Lee
  6. How about that Adam Lee, he's better than both of em
  7. You seem to know your stuff, but I don't agree with your assessment of Indy having no depth. I personally think that the Indy pitching staff is one of the top in the district along with Brentwood. It's not the big names, but the consistancy that wins games for Indy.
  8. I know exactly who this is, and I'll have to say I agree. The Slingshots would be an easy #2 haha. But seriously, I do not see Overton finishing #3. I see them possibility competing for it, but they do not have the pitching or offensive firepower to keep up.
  9. I completely agree. I wish they could take our top 6 every year and throw in Faragutt and Bartlett and call it the State Tourny haha.
  10. This does appear to be the year Indy should finally start turning some heads. With a 10-1 start last year, many thought last year was the year, but then they reached district play and could not continue that success against the tough district. Only losing 3 seniors (only one that played everyday in McClendon), experience is now the advantage for the Eagles. A deep pitching staff will give them the opportunity to win every game. Brentwood, though having lost some key players, stacks up well to rival Indy for the top spot. The loss of Burgess and Hackett on the hill hurts, but Ray and Hillis will provide that same one two punch. The offense will be there, so Brentwood will be tough to beat. Franklin has finally reached a year where there is a good possibility of being knocked off the top. I will never count them out because it would be ridiculous to say a Rebel baseball team has no chance, but the loss of Coach A and the very good senior class (Joseph, Dykes, Grude, Dobbins, etc.) forces many unexperienced players to step up. Centennial lost a bulk of their offensive production, but also bring back some solid hitters, Kemp in particular. The pitching will prove to be their downfall in my opinion. They survived the regular season last year without stellar arms, but I don't see that happening again. With the combination of the bats and arms they lost, I don't see CHS repeating their success. Ravenwood surprised everyone with their run to the Boro last year. They return many starters from that team, but the reality is that they rode on the back of Kes Carter the whole way. Without him, I don't see the Raptors repeating that success. They will be competitive in the district, but not a top team. Overton always seems to find a way to be successful every year. It seems like they lose their whole team, but then reload every year. This was true, until last year. Overton was a good team, but not a dominate team like years past. They return several starters, but not enough pitching to elevate them to the top of a tough district. Hillwood and Hillsboro, more than likely, will remain the bottom two as usual. 1. Independence 2. Brentwood 3. Franklin 4. Centennial 5. Ravenwood 6. Overton 7. Hillsboro 8. Hillwood Indy beat Brentwood 3 times last year with pretty much the same team they will send out this year. Thats why I see them claiming the top spot.
  11. Indy looked good last night. They're a lot better than many believe them to be. They won last night even without steller play from the big man David Howard. They could be scary in the future.
  12. I'm glad Franklin fans are already planning for after the game. Shouldn't y'all worry about the game first? If you think Franklin is just going to come to Indy and run circles, you've got another thing coming. There is a difference between good fans, and fans who just like to cause trouble.
  13. Franklin does have a stud offense, I will give them that. But Indy has had two weeks to prepare for them, on top of being fueled by an embarrassing loss to Centennial (who is actually much better than people give them credit for). I don't know that the Indy D can shut down Franklin, but I do think they will contain them. Indy can stay in the game til the end if Heckman is on, which I believe he will be. Franklin will run and Indy will pass and it will be a high scoring affair. Franklin has never won @ Indy... Upset... Indy by 3
  14. I have heard that BA hasn't looked great in their scrimmages, but I still see them as possibly one of the best in the state. Indy has looked a lot better than I thought they would in preseason, which is encouraging, but I still think this year will go a lot like last year. That won't reflect on Indy's season as a whole though. It helps the Eagles to get beat up a bit at the beginning of the year, as they proved last year.
  15. Drew Kelly makes CHS better, but I still don't see them as a playoff team. The defense won't keep up and they will end up being a team that simply gets outscored every Friday night. Scales is a great athlete, but I would put him somewhere other than QB. Kelly is a target, but Scales has to get the ball in his hands. It'll be another typical year for Centennial.
  16. Indy looked great tonight, firing on all cylinders. This being a more game like scrimmage, with actual turnovers and what not, Indy absolutely ran the table all night. I was extremely impressed by Norman tonight. He showed a lot vs. WC, but he showed his number one wide out ability tonight and made some key catches. Williams, Sartain, and Boatman all looked good as well. The offensive line played much better tonight than a week ago, which was very good to see. I don't know if LHS is supposed to be a good team or not, but I think the final was 40-7, with their only score coming on the JV defense. Indy looked good in every aspect and really sparked some hope for success this year. Any questions, just go ahead. I watched the whole thing tonight.
  17. Another encouraging thing is that there are a few new faces on the defense that are not only new to team, but new to the sport, whether its their first time or if they've taken a few years off. Those few guys have played extremely well from what I can see and will only get better with experience. Also, stud safety Stannard was a bit gimpy last week. Look for the defense to improve greatly when he is back to full strength as well.
  18. tnsparty knows exactly what he is talking about. I too like Nick. I promise you, he knows that playbook inside and out and he works harder than anyone, but when it came to big game situations, Heckman stepped up. I don't understand the logic behind replacing him this year with the guy he replaced last year when Alex obviously proved to be the missing piece the Eagles needed midway through the year last season. In Tennessee Football mag, Heckman is rated as the number 11 underclassman prospect in the state. You don't put that kind of talent on the bench.
  19. They're playing at IHS. Saw a lot of promise on Friday. I don't see Indy dominating the region and winning it, Brentwood is too good. I can see a 2nd or 3rd place finish though and a nice run in the playoffs. The new recievers have stepped it up, and if the o-line can follow suit, Indy will be extremely competitive. 1. BWood 2. Indy 3. Franklin 4. Ravenwood 5. Centennial 6. Dickson Co. 7. Columbia 8. Clarksville NE That's how I see it panning out.
  20. Dark Horse? I can't wait til week 2 when CHS comes down to Thompson's Station and trys to pull an upset. 1. Brentwood 2. Independence 3. Franklin 4. Ravenwood Look for these 4 to beat each other up in the regular season, with the other 4 teams being completely out of it.
  21. I just want to put out there that Independence High School took home the trophy this year with an impressive day on Saturday. There were two teams froms the same district in Williamson Co. that played for the championship (Brentwood and Independence), which goes to show how tough that district truly is. I hope this opens up some eyes to what the Eagles are capable of this upcoming year. They are 9-1 going into district play and playing very well.
  22. Who looks good this year in the always tough region?
  23. IHS fans are insanely excited for this game. This is the most exciting thing that has ever happened in the few years of this school and every student, parent, and techer who has any school spirit AT ALL will be in the stands at MTSU on Saturday. I hope to see a large crowd and a rockin' atmosphere for this highly antisipated game.
  24. After a late night at Millington last night watching the most exciting football game I've ever attended, I've never been more excited. The Eagles have looked invincible throughout the playoffs, though its obvious they are not. If anyone can exploit on IHS's weakness, it's the Smyrna Bulldogs. I have never seen them play, but I know of the boys they have there and the fight they have in them. This fire will be matched by Indy. I'm looking forward to the QB play in this game with Heckman and Gray. Heckman has done amazing things since given the starting role and has shown no sign of slowing down. Gray is a established athlete, and having played against him on the baseball diamond, I know first hand about his determination and drive. Both QB's have great wide outs, with Wilks at Smyrna(I know there are other guys as well, but again, I have never seen a Smyrna game.) and Baugh, Veres, Reese, and Parker at IHS. Good look to both. I'm looking forward to a game of two teams who have fought harder than anyone to get to this Blue Cross Bowl. Go Eagles! Refuse To Lose!!!
  25. I haven't posted all week because this thread is so crazy long. I'll be at the game and I'm expecting a good one. Indy controls the running game of Millington and gets the win 27-21
