  1. That is another variable that might favor BA. I was wondering if it would be mentioned. The old "I-Formation" compliments the current BA backfield sooo much more than the spread. Chris Jordan and Mason Graham with a head of steam has been working a lot better than our QB handing off to Chris Jordan and pretending to keep it, but never did he, even once, I don't think.
  2. Ouch! That hurts bringing up the 2002 Clinic Bowl. That was totally different. That was not going to be a classic match-up. That was coronation for BA. MBA did not have a chance in that game - supposedly. Great coaching and heart trumped talent. Chris Jordan can't beat MBA. We will have to complete some big passes. I will not bet against your prediction about Josh Tate. We had better pass for more yards or it will be bad news. I think we will. The problem with the Halloween game is not as bad as you think. There was an extensive investigation and the results were in the Tennessean. The Comcast broadcast clock and the actual clock were not synchronized, which made it appear incorrect. The actual game films show there was time on the clock. The official was sanctioned, however, for hurrying too much to get the ball set for the field goal. So, technically you are right, but maybe for a different reason.
  3. You are right about the leg on the MBA kicker. I am really hoping the smaller collegiate goal posts will rattle the young sophomore. Not that it matters. MBA will pay the officials to say that the field goals are good even if they are bad /rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" />
  4. You are extremely kind in your prediction. If BA plays like they played against Smyrna, we will lose by 3 touchdowns. We are fortunate to have developed a passing attack since the Smyrna game. We did not have one against Smyrna and got away with it. No such luck against MBA a couple of weeks later and there will be more bad luck for us, if we can't execute it on Saturday for sure.
  5. Ensworth must be overwhelmed with pride after their first varsity season. I salute them. We were missing #44 Melvin Pryor at linebacker last night. He is a HUGE part of our run defense. I was very concerned going in with the Ensworth's big backs. I don't know if you noticed but a couple of the receivers that caught passes and scored last night were freshmen.
  6. I believe MBA leads the series 11-6 and 11-4 since the split. I have to agree with your points. IMO BA will win if they play well. However, in their first meeting MBA was the one who took the field, executing and playing well - not BA. That is a huge part of the game. Having great players is just part of the puzzle. MBA has been the most consistent "executer" over the past 10 years.
  7. In my opinion the addition of Chris Jordan will not factor in nearly as much as the addition of a solid passing attack, which was virtually non-existent during the first two thirds of this season. Over the past three weeks, especially, our sophomore QB has looked confident and poised. He picked Ensworth apart, as they were bunched up front to stop Chris Jordan. 245 passing yards vs. 211 rushing yards. Who would have thunk it? If we can't keep the passing success going, it will be extremely difficult to win - even with Chris Jordan. You can't just line up and drive the ball by running right at the MBA defense (as we found out).
  8. I think that it is an exercise in futility to brandish the results against CBHS as a warning to BA. Win or lose against BA, there is no way anyhow you "hang" 300 yards rushing on BA. Your results against MBA, if you did not have Jefferson, IMO would be a closer indicator. Offense does not come so easy for us, either. So, I predict a close game. The "Bowers Factor" will loom heavy. I will go with BA by 7.
  9. I saw that. Jeremy seemed to be totally focused on destroying that blocker and nothing else. To the Ryan player's credit (I think #34) he jumped up and jogged to the sideline like nothing happened. He is a tough kid, because that was a brutal shot.
  10. I have never seen CJ like that before. His stiff arms and sprints to the outside were only surpassed by his overall intensity. Let's hope the ankle holds up. The thing I took away, that impacted me the most, was our passing accuracy and our new diverse patterns. I know there has been a two week marathon to upgrade that part of out game. I will have to see it a time or two in a row before I get too excited, but it was great to see our open receivers hit in stride with great passes.
  11. My thoughts exactly. We (BA) played our "worst" game of the season against MBA, as well. I don't think it is a coincidence. Ryan will have a similar challenge trying to move the football this week, but not as much to worry about out of BA's offense, unless there has been some magic in the bye week.
  12. Here it is on page 3 http://www.tssaa.org/Handbook/football.pdf
  13. That is pretty unlikely. Middle/East #2 plays West #3 in round one.
  14. It did not look like Ryan had a bad game to me. It looked like MBA lined up and ran right over the top of them. I agree Ryan could kill BA. Anything is possible. I contend that conventional wisdom would place long odds on that possibility. It would take a major BA melt down to get blown out.
  15. You are wrong about that. However, Itzme did not say more turnovers. Anyway, the snap over the QB's head down to the 1 yard line, that we did not lose, hurt the most even though it was not a turnover. BA by 14
  16. Pep, come on man! How could anyone NOT respect Maryville? Brandon and I were having some fun with you guys talking about your schedule and jousting a little. I assure you that we would not sincerely bash Maryville as an institution.
  17. I agree that you will score 14 or less by running the ball on MBA. You will have to throw to get beyond that.
  18. The last 10 meetings between MBA and Ryan had an average final score of 30-9. I was not in attendance of any of those. Maybe they seemed "very close".
  19. I am not sure who will win. However, I am sure that MBA is not overrated.
  20. I haven't seen Ryan play, but it will be an uphill battle against MBA and BA if they do not throw the ball well. Sustaining drives against either defense on the ground is a real problem.
  21. BA is taking BGA lightly in a way. They are resting some of their best players that have playable injuries. They have rested this week and combined with the coming off week to try and get them totally well. I understand that Chris Jordan and Jabari Tuani will not play among a few others. More freshmen and sophomores will get their shot.
  22. I was very impressed with him. He will be kicking on Saturdays one day for sure.
  23. I thought of that, thus the "around here" reference.
