  1. I understand Blackman supporters standing behind their former coach. However, at some point, you have to start thinking that you do not know the entire story. The principal and director of schools are educated people and have made their decisions based on the facts so far. This is not a witch hunt, there are legitimate findings that have brought them to this point. They are not required to publicly disclose all of the information that led them to the decisions they have made. It is probably in the best interest of Mr. Shadowens that the entire story is not detailed in a somewhat unreliable news source such as the DNJ. It is their job to do what is best for the school and your children. It is that simple. Based on the facts so far, it is best for everyone involved for him to look to another county for employment. As far as the anonymous posters who use this forum as a way to publicly slander a coach, administrator, parent volunteer or even worse a player, you are nothing but a coward. The purpose of these message boards are to discuss sports and voice opinions, not slander someone's character.
  2. Talent runs in cycles and playing in one of the toughest districts in the state doesn't help. They are 0-5 against some of the best teams in the state. Every opponent they have played this year is currently ranked in the top 10 in the state in their class. Most are in the top 5. Siegel runs a quality program, they will be back.
  3. Siegel is not bad, not as strong as in recent years, but look at their schedule. Every one of their losses is against an opponent ranked in the top 10 in the state in their class.
  4. More importantly than anything that has been said already on this post, why are you all still discussing this game? It had no impact on your playoff situation and the fact that you are STILL ranting over it has got to be a distraction to two playoff bound teams. Move on before this "meaningless" game becomes a season-ending issue for your teams when they are not focused on the game ahead of them.
  5. Both teams are talented this year. But as much as I hate to admit it, if it comes down to the wire, I think Oakland will get outcoached.
  6. I don't think you can look at Blackman, Oakland, Siegel or Riverdale's schedules and say they are running from anybody. The only reason they are not scheduling Ensworth is they don't want to give them any more opportunity to recruit their athletes.
  7. Wasn't that impressed after watching them play Friday night. Siegel is not quite where they were this time last year and they could have and probably should have won if not for all their costly turnovers. These two teams might just meet again this year.
  8. At least three schools in the county need more coaches on staff. This doesn't necessarily reflect the state of the program. Its more about the county cutting down on teaching positions at schools, you can't hire a coach without a teaching position.
  9. All depends on when Riverdale says he played....if I'm not mistaken, he wasn't eligible to play varsity until mid to late April for Central.
  10. Actually harder to transfer there than anywhere else in Rutherford County. 1) You have to have the grades and get accepted and 2) because the entire county is the zone, you can't just move in the zone and play. If you played at another high school, TSSAA rules you would have to sit out a year until you're eligible.
  11. Its official...Mike Bartlett from Siegel. Good hire for Stewarts Creek, big loss for Siegel. He has been invaluable to that program.
  12. They absolutely deserve more credit than they are given. This is a great group of coaches and more importantly a great group of men. Coach Wyant has said that he wants to make his players into better men not just better players. This isn't just talk, its how they coach. They are respectful of each other and the players. After seeing the behavior of some of the other coaches nearby, I can honestly say I have never been prouder to be a Siegel Star!
  13. Like I said, typical Riverdale. That IS how they train their teams, no sportsmanship. A good high school coach will train his team to be good winners and to respect all opponents. Its not that difficult, play your bench and don't risk a starter getting hurt against a team that is absolutely no threat. I'm sure there are upperclassmen on Riverdale's bench that put in a lot of practice time and never see any significant time in a game. A performance like this makes it really hard for people to respect your program, no matter how far you get.
  14. I agree that you cant tell your bench not to score when they finally get in a game. However, looking at the box score, Riverdale's starters scored at least 75% of the points. So those bench players didn't do all the damage or even very much of it. I doubt many people that saw the score were surprised, its just typical Riverdale. Sportsmanship isn't a high priority.
  15. She may know the game, but there's a lot more to coaching than that. Her track record as a coach is the bigger question.
