  1. After years of reading this board and hundreds, seemingly thousands, of bear cat brown's posts, I would say I have some experience with this doltish code. I may be incorrect on a few terms but here is what I have been able to decipher over the years: The Bros = Christian Brothers Miss Independence = Independence I assume most of you were able to figure those 2 out, but in case you weren't now you know. So now onto the difficult ones: TBSFBAG- "The Baylor School for Boys and Girls" = Baylor tbsfmaw- "The Bradley School for Men and Women" = Bradley EBE- "Evil Blue Empire" = Mccallie Also when he references "Everyone's Favorite Team" he is speaking about the beloved irish of Notre Dame, not to be confused with the real irish of Father Ryan (low blow I know). And I believe his "2nd favorite team" would be Ooltewah (sp?). I hope this may be of some assistance to all the newcomers of coacht, and if there are any other, more experienced, linguists out there that know some terms that i may have left out, or may have been incorrect with please let me know.

  5. I wasn't talking about the boys sizes I was answering someones question who asked why Gibson ran in the 50 yard dash instead of James. and reddevilfever, I believe the whole purpose of these boards is for the fans to discuss and argue their opionions about their favorite high school teams. In no way are our comments affecting any coachs decisions. They got their jobs for a reason. As for all of us making comments and posts about our opionions, lighten up, its all just for fun.
  6. I don't know if he's hurt or not, but if not and this is the Halls coaches gameplan then they're crazy! They ought to be run out of town if they don't give O'Laughlin 20+ touches a game, or whatever 60-70% of the offensive plays per game would be, whether it's screens or whatever. The kid is the real deal and he had what, 1 play out of 9/10 that they called his number? That's just crazy! You can't really say it looked like they were working on something else either. It all looked like the same stuff as the previous years. Nothing new going on formation wise or playcalling wise. Here's a question for you! Was O'Laughlin's run the only play Halls gained yards aside from the penalty? I guess they might've gained 1 or 2 yards on a fb dive looking play, but that won't cut it. I hate to say it just because the man is so old school, but bring Ward back. He at least seemed to work to get the ball to the best players. On top of that, move Kilgore back to RB coach. Last year was the only year I've seen the RBs for Halls block for each other in recent memory. The year before Halls only had one feature back really and the other wb blocked ok it seemed. Neither one of the current backs look like they know what blocking is this year. That RB block is huge for Halls offense. Obviously Hasel moving to QB coach has worked because the QBs have looked better this year than they ever have that I can remember. Even the two last night looked ok, just some jitters it looked like to me. If the situation remains status quo with how Halls is going to coach it then we better hope for everyone's off night and get a couple pick 6s per game. 20+ really??? come on now. keep in mind ole wes kitts only averaged 11 caries a game his senior year. To double that for an under sized junior would be crazy. and no he wasnt hurt 3 is just faster then he is, I used to see the 2 run track and gibby beat him everytime.
  7. buddy thank about what your saying before you start blasting somebody, the reversal signals a change in control. if watson got the reversal points that means he gained control. if there was no take down called, then watson gained control that would be a takedown and not a reversal, making the score 6-6
  8. Micah Bolden from halls this year weighed around 190 for football and cut to 152 to wrestle. 1 week after the state he was back up to about 175

    Halls High Tennis

I predict the halls high boys tennis team to win state this year!!!!!
  10. WrestlingGod, describe to us what all happened in this situation. Why was ole bcb getting a face full of anything?
  11. James Purvis (Halls 171) pinned both the heritage kid and the south doyle kid... in the same night
  12. I would have to add: 112: Luke Hall Seymour & 215: Kyle Stuff Gibbs
  13. You're arguement freshman get started at 103 and 112 has some flaws. Not all freshman are small. Some quality kids come in as freshman weighing 170+ and may be just as technically skilled as upper classmen, but do not find as much success b/c they are wrestling older guys. It's common since that a 14 year old will not be physically as strong as a 18 year old bc their body has not matured as much yet. It's actually not even comparable, ask any quality heavyweight what there freshman max outs were compared to there senior max outs. You will find they are not even comparable. So even if the kids are technically equal, the older kid will win 9 out of 10 times bc he is so much stronger then the young pup. And it's typical for freshman to find success at these lower weights mainly due to the fact they wrestle only kids their age or a year older. So it's really not fair for bigger kids bc if two freshman come in one weighing 112 and the other 189, both being top-notch middle school wrestlers, the 112 will win more hardware and have more success bc he doesnt have to wrestle kids 2,3,or even 4 years older then him every other match like the 189 does. does that mean the 112 is the better wrestler? no! even though everyone will say that the 112 is better. also, i like the 235 and 260 idea, you argue against it bc most bigger guys chose football over wrestling in college. Most kids that are 235 and 260 are considered too small to play big time college football as an offense or defensive linemen. And most are discourged from wrestling too bc they dont want to cut to 197 and/or they dont want to get up to 285 bc they think they will be too fat. If colleges would accepet these weight classes too i would love to see the addition of a 235 and 260 and drop of 103 and 112 weight class bc there are several stud high school athletes that are around 245 that do nothing in college bc of their weight, and bc the 112 high school freshman would have to work as hard as the 189 freshman to find success.
  14. Let me quote somebody who taught several young men in knoxville for several years how to play the game, "If you need a piece of paper to tell you who can play, you probably don't know much about the game" no knock on the kid, but, stats, specifically tackles, can be very miss leading information. A tackle made 20 yards down field counts the same as a tackle made at the line of scrimmage on paper, but in reality, we all know it doesn't. some voters/sports writers realize this, most don't. that is why he may have made one poll but not another.

is miller wrestling 135 this year? or did he just pump up?
  16. Unofficial results: - Baylor 1st, Notre Dame 2nd, Hendersonville 4th?. - Region 2 had 3 teams in the top 10 - Halls at 6th, Seymore at 7th, and Karns at 9th.
  17. that was frank's junior year, tom's senior year tom beat frank tom's junior year, frank's sophomore year frank beat tom in a dual last year at carson newman i believe that puts these 2 at 2-2

  19. The older Larue (trent) looked very impressive this summer. I wouldn't count him out any either as he placed third last year at 112 behind Sluder and Hall.
  20. I disagree, I believe we tried to throw too much. Now before all of you coacht coachs go off and give me "the game has changed" speech here me out on this. How many games did we lose that were within 1 touchdown in the 4th quarter? .... 5 out of 6 (clinton was ahead by 10) How many times did we end up punting when we tried to throw the ball on 1st and 2nd down? .... I'll take and educated guess and say between 90 and 95 percent of the time. So let's do some math, 1 pass equals 1 punt, 1 punt costs our team 1 drive, 1 drive may result in 1 touchdown. Again how many times would have 1 touchdown changed the outcome of the game? It wasn't obvious to see that we were incapable of passing the ball this year, so why did we still continue to try? Football is a simple game, the team that goes forward wins. The team that doesn't loses. If we just would have done what our team could do, Halls would be sitting at either 8-2 or 9-1 and would be getting ready to play Walker Valley this friday.
  21. Don't forget about the cleveland duals. That would easily be the toughest duals tournament in the state.
  22. offense: QB - Turner WR - Johnson/Gresham RB - Waggoner RB - Pixley/Mcgill FB - Hodge TE - Cottrell T - Mcfalls G - Laddish C - Raby G - Leonard T - Hill Defense: DL - Leonard DL - Laddish DL - Mcfalls LB - Cottrell LB - Hodge DB - Turner DB - Johnson DB - Gresham (I put them first to show that we have 8 guys that could be starting both ways = not good) DL- Steinke/Bolden LB - Case DB - Bright
  23. Did you forget that we were not able to stop Maryville at all last year? Am I the only Halls fan that remembers that Maryville did not punt a single time in the game? Don't let the score board fool you, Halls did not play well at all. The only reason we were able to keep it close was because we we're able to break 2 long touchdowns. Both being 3rd and long if my memory is correct.
  24. Look for Kyle Stuff from Gibbs to make some noise this year at 215. Kyle was the Region II OW last year.
