  1. Thank you for the complement sir! I have been to quite a few football and basketball games over the years at Scott and have always enjoyed our visits. The people are great, and I love the way the community really supports the HS. This is especially obvious in basketball. Here's to a well played and safe game for both teams!
  2. Please tell me that someone remember's Mancow's phone scam song of "Corn Dog." If no one else, I'm betting APB does, as he and I have about the same sense of humor. Back in the day, I got that stupid song stuck in my head and nothing else would enter. That explains a lot about me.... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V00rF0Lw1RQ
  3. A lot of work to do but I think our staff and players will learn some things from that game. Always glad to get a W! Hope you are doing well my friend, and say hello for me to that ghost APB!
  4. Well, one thing I observed with teams that played us well or not well at CAK with CRB's system is it didn't really have a lot to do with how they fared against the rest of their schedule. Because it is different, you could do great against it but not stop other offenses, or do horrible against it and do well against the rest of your schedule. Hopefully TCA will bounce back next week in region play and having the entire team back next year (except 1) will be a tremendous asset. Best of luck to your young men the rest of the season and prayers of no significant injuries!
  5. BEM, thanks for your comments. I really liked your young QB and you had an excellent young RB and WR as well. As far as the records for all time passing, I admit I'm a homer, but the TSSAA website backs me up. All time passing is Charlie High (CAK) and single season #1 is Charlie High 2011 and #2 Charlie High 2012. http://tssaa.org/departments/tssaa- state-records/ (He only played QB 2 years except for one game as a sophomore when our starting QB was out with a concussion)
  6. Barney, two things: 1. That is the best description of C Smith running around defenders I could have ever thought of. Pylons in the driveway. 2. I LOVE your avatar. Well, the first half of this last week's game was the worst performance I've seen in a long time by a CAK team, but to their credit, they got it together and played well in the 2nd half. Grace played much better than I expected, and really did some nice things on both offense and defense. They are better than I thought they would be by a pretty fair margin. I think this week, CAK gets back on track early and takes control of this game. CAK is good enough this year that they can be competitive and win if they play to their capability, but not good enough that they can win against quality opponents if they don't.
  7. Wow, Alcoa is already clicking on all cylinders on offense and D! This one is likely to get ugly really quickly! Hoping for no injuries to either team!
  8. Thank you to the TCA fan that explained how to get the streaming video! If I weren't so far away I would have come to the game, but it was great to be able to watch it from Knoxville. Best of luck to both teams the rest of the season!
  9. I am posting this on this thread and not the USJ / TCA thread because I don't have a dog in that fight and rivalries are rivalries for a reason. My interest is in the USJ program's development / status, not one particular game. I really appreciate the TCA fan who told me how to stream the game. I watched every play, including once CRB was just running clock and letting 2nd / 3rd team get reps. I saw mostly things I expected to see out of Bradley's team(s) and a few that are still a work in progress. I can't speak to last week because I didn't see it, but this game the kids knew where they were supposed to be and executed pretty well. The opponent was competitive in the 2nd quarter, and once CRB called off the dogs. Otherwise, it was decisive. In the future, I predict USJ fans will see fewer drops. Drops happen, but Bradley is excellent at getting even average athletes able to 1. run precise routes and catch the ball and 2. Hang on to the ball even when hit very hard. USJ has some very nice athletes. I have no idea what is on the sidelines for next year, but he has some quality athletes to work with on the field. And man is that kicking game something! One game, of course, does not make a season. A come back loss in over time is no more an indication than this weeks decisive victory on how the season will work out. But I think USJ fans got a glimpse of their future and what CRB's offense can do WHEN it's clicking on all cylinders. Part of the game it was, part it wasn't. Still a ways to go. If this game is an indication, CRB has work to do not only with football but discipline, regardless of what the other team does or does not do. I can assure you that it will come as players grow up in the program. He will contribute to these young men not only in their football IQ, but also in keeping a cool head and keeping their emotions in check, and putting the team and the game ahead of whatever personal issue one might be dealing with on a particular play. Having said that, this game could have been (easily) 14+ points more one sided. I would opine that if these exact 2 squads played this exact game 1 year later, (same players, same conditions, etc) that it would be 7 - 21 points more one sided. Probably the only game I'll get to watch this year, but it was a great way to spend a Saturday evening. Oh, and Solomon, I couldn't agree more with your post. It is going to be a lot of fun to keep up with USJ over the next few years, although I miss having CRB and his family around here. I'm glad to see Coach Bradley have a chance to compete on a level playing field in D2.
  10. That's even better! Is it pretty self explanatory how to find the game once I get on point5digital or do I need any tips on getting it streaming? I would enjoy watching this rivalry game tonight from across the state.
  11. Does 105.3 stream on the internet? What are their call letters, I tried to look them up on Iheart radio and couldn't find them since I'm not in that area.
  12. They have not added any seating. However, typically there is ample seating, particularly if you arrive a few minutes early. It tends to be a late arriving home crowd. I would recommend sitting on the Homeside so that you are out of the sun. Hope you are able to make it!
  13. Not a lot of talk on this game this season. I'll stick my neck out and give a couple of predictions: Grace will have a good QB and some athletes receiving and will make some plays. However, I think they will have trouble consistently moving the chains. I believe CAK will do well enough against Grace's run to make them more one dimensional than they need to be. They will have to score on long plays or defense or perhaps turnovers that result in short fields, as opposed to long methodical drives. On offense, I think a number of the misfires CAK saw in week 1 will be worked through and the offense will fire closer to all cylinders. Perhaps not all the way up to full capacity yet, but closer than last week, and I think it will give Grace trouble. Of course, CAK always seems to get Grace's best effort, so anything can happen between these 2.
  14. Thank you, and I certainly hope and believe so, based on a proven track record. Thank you for the well wishes to CAK, and I will certainly be pulling for USJ this season!
  15. Thanks DTC1! We need all the support we can get! Best wishes this Friday and this season!
  16. You are correct about one thing, I don't know a lot about the private school make up of the Jackson area. I do know that CAK, Webb, and Catholic (all 3 contenders year in / year out in their divisions) are within 2 miles of each other with CAK in the middle. It is about 1 mile from CAK to Catholic, and about 1 mile from CAK to Webb. Grace Christian is about 10 - 15 miles from these 3 schools. The fact is that there are only so many people who are able or willing to spend the money it takes to go to a private school, and having all of these so close together was and is a challenge. How that relates to population / income / talent pool in your area vs ours I can't say, but my opinion is that if and when USJ starts to be stronger, it will attract quality athletes, including some that might have come to your school. Congratulations on your school's fine program; that is a lot to be proud of. But what you said changes nothing regarding the points I made (with the POSSIBLE exception I noted above). I don't think you have any idea of how different what you are going to be faced with is from anything else you face. Maybe better, maybe not better, but definitely different. Think of any spread offense you have faced, and this is just different. I don't know if it will be this year, or if it will take a year or two, but it won't be long until Bradley has his system in place and running effectively. When it is, let's talk then. Otherwise, I'll let my previous posts in this thread stand on their own. I believe in time you'll find them to be highly accurate. Best of luck to your program this season!
  17. Right on queue you appear! Seriously though, good to know you're around. I hope those reasons are positive in your career / life, and we'll enjoy reading your posts when you have a chance to chime in. Yes CAK is running virtually the same offense, with a few new wrinkles thrown in. The OC is a CRB assistant who then was HC at the middle school Warrior program. They are a pass heavy team with a very good QB, but very capable RB's as well. We'll see what this all means as the year goes on. The new head coach is the DC and has a defensive back ground. Could prove to be a very good combination over the coming years if CAK can continue to develop talent and get kids on the field. Only in the mid 40's on the team including freshmen. Depth is a challenge. Injuries are a challenge.
  18. That really is a brutal schedule. Even if Grace loses some of those games, it means nothing about how they will fair in 2A as long as they can get through those games without any significant injuries.
  19. Good to hear from you as well my friend! Here's hoping your youngest has a great year!
  20. Installing a new offense can be tricky, especially in season 1. I suspect the coach believes he has the athletes to make it work if not perfectly this year, over this QB's next year or two. Still could be some kinks to work out, especially early in the season. Or maybe that's wishful thinking on my part.
  21. Thanks guys, I'll take all the support we can get! It's always interesting when these 2 meet up. I'm looking forward to seeing the Grace QB and a new offense. I just hope he doesn't have a banner night Friday! One thing about the spread is that you have to be able to pitch and catch to make it work. I remember a few years ago when a team I pull for, Oak Ridge, ran the spread and couldn't pass. It didn't take long for the opponents to figure out all they were doing was trying to spread the defense out to run. I suspect that this will not be the case with Grace, however, and that they'll have some athletes. They always do.
  22. I know he "retired" from CoachT for a while last year, and then came back. Not sure where he's been. Always enjoyed his posts.
  23. I know this is a little late.... I apologize, I was out of state and had to watch the game on the Warrior Network. I was really glad to be able to watch it streaming! I would be interested in others' observations, but I'll offer a few. This game could have been REALLY ugly. CAK shot itself in the foot several times. And of course the lone LA touchdown was a bomb against our 2nd / 3rd team defense. I would not be surprised if these 2 had played 3 times if the score wasn't much more one sided. The D swarmed to the ball very well, and showed good speed, much like last year. I really liked the addition of the 2 new LB's. Really hated to see #75 go down. Any word on severity? O doesn't have the depth of playmakers YET, but 16 and 9 are excellent weapons. 9 needs more touches both running and receiving. I liked what I saw with a couple other receivers and hope to see their confidence grow and the QB find them more consistent targets. One RB looked VERY tentative running the ball on many runs, but showed good speed on at least one carry. Hoping the staff can get him to more consistently run hard and get what he can get. The freshman RB (31 I think) looked very promising. IMO he needs to see the field sooner and more often. Looking forward to seeing my first game in person this Friday.
  24. Well said Barney. Numbers do matter. Depth does matter. Grace playing a team with 84 players is a tall order. This can also be observed when smaller schools play Alcoa who regularly dresses over 90. Regardless of talent (which they have tons of) and coaching (which they have excellent) a team with 45 kids is generally going to find it tough to compete with teams with 80 - 100. Regarding the game this week, it will be very interesting. New coach for CAK, but running a very similar offense to the past. I have no idea what Grace has, but it certainly sounds good for them that they hung in with Jeff Co. CAK lost a huge senior class and a lot of starters. Still some great talent though. Can't wait for Friday.
  25. I'll be glad to offer my opinion on this question after this Friday.
