I'm going to have to disagree with your assessment with exception to the pathetic fan section. Franklin is still tops in the district until someone takes them down. However they are very beatable and the Bruins proved it. Indy almost did it as well but came up short at the end.

This is coming from an ACC fan. Florida is tops of the SEC right now and it looks as though they will be for awhile. I am saying this without regards to their national championship last season (although that makes my point of view that much more credible). Tennessee is an average team in the SEC and for the young fellow to pick Florida over Tennessee was probably the correct decision if he wants to win and win a national title. However in regards to playing time, Tennessee would have been the much better decision.

Brentwood has already lost to Indy. I still think Franklin will and should come out on top in the district. However I could also see the scenario where Brentwood, Franklin, and Indy all beat each other once. Which means there would be a 3 way tie for first.

Franklin loses again. This is becoming very interesting.

Since both Williamson and Davidson County schools are out (for cold weather), will there still be basketball games tomorrow (Friday)?

First off neither one of them live with her. Second I hate to inform you but it is not illegal for a player to go over to a coaches house, as in to watch some extra film or strategize or even to work on recruiting for the college ranks. All of these are legal, and it's ridiculous that someone's parents would be this angry that their daughter wasn't playing and to go off and do what they've done.

Are you referring to the other player that transferred from Independence not named Haislip.

The disgruntled parent's child lost playing time due to a better player (Haislip) legally moving into the Riverdale zone. Then the parents took the liberty of playing detective by following Coach Maxwell around and taking photographs of her. The parents are stalking her and need to be punished by the law.

These new allegations about Coach Maxwell of Riverdale are ridiculous. The parents of the former girl on the team should be ashamed. As reported by Tom Kreager of the Daily News Journal, those parents have been stalking her and attempting to ruin her career. This is a very immature act by some parents whose child wasn't going to get the playing time when Jaclissa Haislip moved over (a legal move by TSSAA standards). I think this is ridiculous and the parents should face some type of punishment by the legal system for their immature actions.

Not to my knowledge. He's still the head coach. I was referring to him taking on the responsibility of being defensive coord. while being the head coach. This is very common at the high school level for a head coach to also be either the o or d coord. as well.

So where does Overton fit in in all of this?

No dog in the hunt either except that I live in Williamson County and watch Centennial, Franklin, and Independence basketball games equally. But it looks as though this was most certainly a big recruit for MBA. But it's not the first, and certainly will not be the last. I do remember a similar incident 6 or 7 years back with a young man out of Woodland Middle, his name escapes me but Dion comes to mind, who went up to MBA for basketball. He was an exceptional middle school basketball player and an above average high school basketball player.

It's a shame Centennial's Kelly doesn't have a better supporting cast for his senior season. But he will persevere through and still have his team contending for that 4th seed in the district.

I do think there are a lot of question marks coming into this season. However the O line should be as good as it was a few years back in 06 with Kelley and Burge leading the way. If anyone has any updates as to who the new defensive coordinator will be please post. I wonder if Eubanks might put his name in the hat?

That was a great heads up play by Glover to seal the victory. And yes it is very impressive to have somewhat of an off game and still score 17- Young. I hope Franklin's weakness, in playing to the level of their competition, doesn't come back to haunt them. And I have no ties to either school. I live in Williamson County and like all of the Franklin area teams equally (Centennial as well).

I also witnessed this basketball game. I will be the first to say the behavior of the head coach for Independence was inappropriate. However this is not the first time I have witnessed such acts, and am sure it will not be the last. The part about fans booing Young is nothing more than a good student section giving their home team every possible advantage point from an atmosphere standpoint. Franklin's student section was somewhat pathetic for the type of basketball team they have. The parents cheered much louder than the students who decided to show up. My first thought after the game was the competition the Franklin team played down in Florida was very sub par at best, especially for them to have "blowout wins." Independence is a slightly above average AAA team that probably should have won tonight. While Michael Young is a great player (17 pts tonight), maybe 3rd best in the district, I would have expected to see more consistent play (airballs, TOs, etc.) from such a player in an important game. However he's Franklin's floor general and will continue to be. Franklin was by far the much better team, however Independence should have won tonight based on the way each team played. Why did Starnes not play?

I agree that they won't have a team like this past seasons, especially with the new district. However the above mentioned comment about teams falling or stumbling after a state championship appearance is not completely true. Ravenwood made back to back appearances in the state title game in 05 and 06. But graduation and a down year in competition (Indy 07) have a lot to do with it.

I had a chance to see him. Congrats Coach. We'll never forget those days at Antioch!

Not sure either way on him or McDonald, however one thing is for certain and that's Vandy got a steal.
