  1. If I am not mistaken, Rucker lost 1 3 years ago, went undefeated 2 years ago and lost 1 last year. That is this years Freshmen, Sophomores and Juniors. The senior class was winless in 8th grade. looking at the roster Friday, I saw 8-10 sophomores, 2 or 3 juniors, and 10 or 12 seniors starting. When you have that many starters that are sophomores in 5A, you are gonna struggle.
  2. In my best Paul Harvey voice, and now for the rest of the story. The kid in question had an altercation with a coach during a game. After the game, the parents confronted the coach. This happened on a Friday or Saturday. The kid transferred to Portland on Monday. This info came from someone who witnessed the incident. So, maybe he was going to transfer, but it sure sounds like athletics had a role in the decision. As far as the Banks situation, from what I have been told, the mother has more than enough proof that this is in no way an athletic related decision. This is strictly a situation where financial pressure caused the child to go and live with his dad until the mother got back on her feet.
  3. Gallatin had three days of practice before the scrimmage. Gallatin did have 3 ints and recovered a fumble. White House is gonna be fine this year, and Gallatin will be better

a coach doesn't have to have played college ball to be a good high school coach. needs to know the game and how to get the best out of each player. i agree with the rest of the post.
  5. same guy. think he was at lavergne
  6. 1983 Gallatin team. one of, if not the best team Gallatin ever had. lost in the semis to germantown.
  7. Gallatin had a good junior and sophomore class. i say if a kid does not want to be at gallatin, then hit the road. we don't need them, and more times than not they are not nearly as good as they think. i would take 11 average players with above average hearts than to have 1 or 2 superstars that are only concerned with themselves. i feel like anyone of the following could win it; Mt Juliet, beech, hendersonville, Gallatin, or station camp. Beech will be loaded. Hendersonville will be well coached with some decent athletes. Mt Juliet is losing a lot, but will be efficient enough on offense to give people problems. Gallatin wil be the most athletic, but still has the knuckle heads in the community that influence kids in the wrong way. Station Camps upcoming jr and sr class were both undefeated as freshman i believe, and have a lot of playing time. coaching could be the x factor. i think either Beech, Hendersonville, Gallatin, or Station Camp makes it to Cookeville next season.
  8. i agree with all you have said about coach Lassiter. i do think that the discipline has been lacking, and for some reason he just does not get the job done when it counts. sometimes when you love something you have to let it go so that it can move forward. i think that is what lassiter needs to do. i think he has taken the program as far as he can. but if he stays or if he goes i love the green wave and will support the program.
  9. very frustrating. hopefully lassiter will step down, but if not i am afraid the administration will not make the move that should have been made several years ago.
  10. you are right GWAVE, something has to be done. Lack of discipline is not acceptable. you can not coach speed or talent(both of which we had plenty of), but a coach can have discipline. We were out coached yet again. congrats hendersonville
  11. Gallatin will play JPII, Brentwood, and Hillsboro out of district.
  12. Gallatin they will play JPII, Brentwood, and Hillsboro out of district. JPII week 0, Station Camp week 5 and Beech week 9, not sure which weeks we will play the others in our district.I think we have a bye week 1.
  13. I think Gallatin wins a close game. 10-3 ,14-13, 21-17 something along those lines. /roflolk.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflolk:" border="0" alt="roflolk.gif" />
  14. Both played on the 1989 state championship team.Dewayne was very athletic. He is back in Gallatin coaching some youth football and baseball. Shane would knock your teeth out. He is in Gallatin and I believe he is working for a local home builder.
  15. As far as the 1979 semi-final game, I heard that Gallatin was close to scoring. The coach sends in a play and the QB changes the play. A fumble happens and Gallatin loses the game. I have no idea if that is true or not. Maybe the history channel could conduct one of those urban myths revealed shows about it and get the true answer. Mark McMurray only played his junior year which was 1989. He got into some trouble and missed his senior year of football, but was able to return for basketball.Jeremy started at tailback his sophmore year which was 1991. He started as a junior and I have heard that he had some issues with the coaches and also some injuries his senior year. I belive he played some defense as well. I am pretty sure he went to MTSU and played some DB before leaving school.
  16. Wrong McMurray. Mark got in trouble not Jeremy. Jeremy played 91,92,93. He had some injuries his senior season. Mark played in 89 as a junior and was a great athlete.
  17. Lawren Lassiter, QB Corey Lewis, QB,DB Denver Howell,QB Goo Baby Woods, RB Lonnie Birch, RB Mark McMurray, RB T.D. 18. Congragulations to Indy. Congragulations to the Indy faithfull. Very classy program. As for the Green Wave, keep your heads up, you just happen to come up against a heck of a football team. I am proud of the fact that these kids could have thrown in the towel after week 7. You had your back against the wall and you chose to exhibt Green Wave Pride by not giving up. Very proud of the effort that you gave the last couple of weeks. Good Luck to Indy the rest of the way.
  19. Butler is a great player, moving him around to different positions has opened things up for other players to step up and make some plays. That is a big reason that we have played better the last few weeks. Teams do not think that we have anything other than Boo, and I hope that continues. If it does look for Gallatin to be a FACTOR in the playoffs. If Gallatin shows up to play, I believe they win by 10-13 points. I would like to congragulate Indy on winning their region this year. Go Green Wave! Praying for an injury free game.
  20. If you are on the team, then take your anger toward the posters and use it as motivation. There is and always has been high expectations at Gallatin. The people that come to the games do support Gallatin. Picking against a team does not mean a person does not support that team, it only means that they are taking information they have and making a pick. It is an opinion. If everyone picked their team each week, then there would be no need in these boards. Like I said, use it as motivation. I was on a team in 1989 that a reporter said would not be a factor in the play-offs that year. We as a team and as a community used that statement as motivation. Our banner that we ran through the night of the state championship said "Factor This." keep working hard and do not put too much effort in getting angry at the posters. Use that energy to help make Gallatin Football dominant.
  21. I would agree that Smyrna will try to make a statement. For Gallatin to win, the secondary will have to play their assignments. We will have to get pressure on Gray. The offense will have to try to pound the football and keep Smyrnas offense off of the field. Good luck Wave. I still believe that Gallatin has the potential of having a good team, it is just a matter of getting the right people in the right places. However, win or lose I will support the Green Wave till the end.
