  1. JPATS5 I don't have anything against you personally. I don't even know you. You are probably a great guy. However, the following may be why people think that you are FBWIZ: Posted by JPATS5 from an earlier thread: hey, blue21sallyat7, i notice your a student at etsu. i am too. currently, i'm working on my ma in mass communications. do you play football at etsu? if so, do you know cecil moore or cream? Posted by FBWIZ on 8-8-02 nothing is more exciting than watching young men learn the valuing of winning and losing, but i'm not dedicated in watching any particular team play week after week. i'm 28 yrs old and working on my masters at etsu. i'll leave this to fans (enthusiastic follower or admirer) like jiveturkey,thetruth,tribe2002,tribe1,STARSNBARS and others who engage in such activity. as for me, i love to watch games that have lots of potential college talent rather than high school hype.for example, i will watch DB v Jeff(mcmillian, jennings, houston); oak ridge v soddy dasiy(sd's big linemen); jeff v morr.west(jennings, houston, isom); science hill v DB(mcmillian); greeneville v DB(baugh, lister, mcmillian)and so forth...What is the most important thing about this game? it allows kids to learn the concept of teamwork and gives athelets the opportunity to show their talent so they can further their education. what do you do to promote talent in tn? or is it all about your hs(your hs)looking good? If FBWIZ isn't you, then you certainly have a great deal in common. Again it dosen't really bother me if you are or aren't FBWIZ. Just trying to shed some light.
  2. Charles Rucker at Morristown West is a good back that is returning. He had 1200 yds last year splitting time at TB. All Morristown West fans hope he can kick it up another notch next year.
  3. In 4A: Maryville and Greeneville.
  4. MHS, I am sure that you are aware of this but JPATS5 is not a Morristown West supporter. In his former coacht life he was known as fbwiz, and annoyed everyone by making outlandish predictions. He also repeatedly told everyone how Jeff County was going to destroy Mo. West last year. It appears now he is employing different tactics. He is telling everyone how great West is going to be (especially on defense) next year. Morristown West has a CHANCE to be a good team in 2003 and that is all they have, a chance.
  5. I had heard rumors of Jeff getting a QB from N.J. What does that mean for Parker?
  6. Earth to Maryville haters...... In the past 2 years Maryville would have dominated 5A football in East TN to a greater degree than they did 4A. The simple reason behind this is 4A football is better in East Tennessee (at least the last 2-3 yrs). I don't know if there was a 5A team in East Tennessee that could have beaten Maryville (or Greeneville, Central or Morristown West) for that matter. Case(s) in point Greeneville beat DB Morristown West beat Jeff County Morristown West beat Greeneville (X2) Maryville beat Mo. West (x2)
  7. They wouldn't have to build a new school. They could simply use 1 campus for 9-10th graders and the other campus for 11-12th graders.
  8. Having lived in Morristown for a few years now, I would be a big advocate for this to happen. It would eliminate the division that is in the town (East vs. West) and help to unite the people. If they did consolidate the 2 schools and hired Coach Woods as the head coach the landscape of 5A football would change dramatically. I am not saying they would dominate, but I would say that it is very likely that a State Championship would come back to Morristown within 3-5 years. [Edited by transplant on 2-12-03 8:55A]
  9. PLACALL and 4A FAN there seems to be no logic in your argument so I will let it go. However, I just want you to think about a couple of things; I wouldn't think any sane individual could look at a record of 47-4 the last 4 years and see a "problem." You both don't seem to be for Maryville, so answer me this: What has your teams record been during that time period? [Edited by transplant on 2-11-03 4:18P]
  10. PLACALL, Taking nothing away from Cleveland they will have a great team next year but if I remember correctly the final score of their play-off game with Maryville was: Maryville 40- Cleveland 14, that doesn't qualify as "almost winning" in my mind.
  11. I agree with the first post. I realize that college coaches earn their living by winning and the biggest part of that is recruiting the right players, but sometimes I don't understand what they are looking for in a player. I saw Maryville and Morristown West play twice this year and I believe that both Waters and Merritt were division I caliber players. On the Morristown West side there are several players that I believe should have had an opportunity to play in college but weren't signed.
  12. JPATS5, Please stick to what you know, evaluating Jeff. County football and stay off of Morristown West's coaching staff. Coach Case did a great job last year coaching the Trojan secondary. While I am sure the team and coaching staff aren't satisfied with losing to Maryville in the semi-finals in consecutive years, answer me this question: what other team has beaten them? [Edited by transplant on 2-9-03 3:48P]
  13. Anything is possible, but I wouldn't bet on Lamar Brown being the next coach at Morristown East.

    Oak Ridge

Not much news has been coming out of the Ridge lately. What are their prospects for next year? Any predictions?
  15. It is hard to beat a little Pat Benatar before a game especially the classic..."Hit me with your best shot."
  16. Hey Box don't let the facts get in the way of your argument about West's schedule. You need to look at Central's schedule. Last year they played both Cocke County and Morristown East in their out of region play. Those were 2 of the worst teams in the IMAC in 2002. Morristown West plays Cleveland (who beat Central last year), Jefferson County (5A quarterfinals), and Maryville (enough said) out of region. If you can look at those 3 games and say West ducks anyone then you are beyond help. Nothing against Central they have a great coaching staff and some great players, but please don't whine about someone else's schedule. If both teams win enough next year they will get to play.....the Friday after Thanksgiving. [Edited by transplant on 2-5-03 10:18P]
  17. You have said this before on this site and you were wrong then and you are wrong now. Emmanuel isn't going anywhere.

    4-AAAA

Cleveland is loaded. It should be an awesome matchup in Week 1 when Morristown West comes down that way!
  19. It has to be Gary Salansky at Morristown West.
  20. I hope you are right about Proffitt returning to West. As for the Sparky Woods reference, thanks I needed a good laugh today!
  21. If Proffitt comes back to Morristown it should only be at West. He is a life long Trojan not a 'Cane. Come home Proffitt!
  22. Morristown West has the following upcoming seniors who each have a CHANCE to be great... Defense: Brandon Fanney, Emmanuel Frederick, Kaleb Goforth Offense: Adam Shockley, Charles Rucker
  23. I heard that Central might be dropping football altogether.
  24. I don't think Maryville can go wrong either way. Thompson is a proven winner and Rouse is touted as being the better athlete. I am sure both of them will be on the field in some capacity next year.
  25. The best thing about Maryville is that they have a PROGRAM. The way they work, play, and are coached enables them to be good year after year regardless of who they lose to graduation. That is the true mark of excellence. A lot of teams can have a good team every 3-4 years, but only those with great programs can be good every year. I don't think any one who knows much about football really thinks that Maryville is "going down the tubes," just because they lost some great senior players. Just look at Morristown West if you need an example: They lost 10 starters off of the 2001 defense and still made it to the Semi-Finals again. Marvyille will just re-load as well. They are still the favorite in 4A until they are beaten in the play-offs.
