  1. This one will be interesting. Greeneville does look to be very explosive on offense this year, but I think the Devils will have some trouble containing McFall and company from Jefferson County also.
  2. I thought both Greeneville and Morristown East were both very impressive, especially on offense.
  3. Alcoa is very good this year. If they are to ever beat Maryville again, this would be the year. I would also like to compliment the Alcoa players and coaches on how classy they are! Good luck this year (not that you will need it).
  4. with the 1's it was Morristown West 7 Fulton 0. Fulton did score several times against the MW 2's and 3's. All in all it was a good scrimmage for both teams.
  5. I agree, Coach Zeller is a good man. I am also impressed that he is able to adapt his schemes and plans to the personnel that he might have from year to year.
  6. If they stay healthy and don't get the big head, expect them to make it 5 in a row this year. They have great talent and great coaching.
  7. Coach Meadows and his family will certainly be in my prayers. He is a good man and an excellent football coach. However, many times things much more important than football need to be dealt with.
  8. The rich get richer huh? Unbelievable!
  9. A great day for Morristown West. It is great to see a great man and coach be rewarded for being loyal to Morristown West. Good days are ahead for the Trojans!
  10. Good luck to Maryville from this Morristown West supporter.
  11. Rebelron, We (Mo. West) scrimmaged Alcoa this year and played Sullivan South (as you know). IMHO I would agree that Phillips doesn't have the elusiveness that Cobb has but he is almost as fast, and is MUCH more powerful and harder to tackle. He is (as has been mentioned before) a High School version of Tim Tebow. I think he is probably the best individual offensive player Maryville has played since Jason Whitten. I will be interested to get your take after next Friday. I still pick Maryville to win, because I think they will outscore Sullivan South.
  12. Coach Carter and his staff do a tremendous job and Sullivan South has a great team this year. Phillips is certainly a GREAT High School player (Coach Cut might want to re-evaluate offering that kid!). However, Sullivan South is getting ready to experience something they have never experienced before....... Love them or hate them. Maryville is unbelievable! I have never seen anything like it at a public High School.
  13. Congrats to Sullivan South. Good luck next week. I am afraid you're going to need it.
  14. After being part of a team that has received many butt kickings from Maryville. I have learned to never pick against them. Maryville 28-Red Bank 14.
  15. Very optimistic up there in Falcon Country! 2 upsets in once pick.
  16. Greeneville is the Five Rivers Conference Champion.
  17. According to the Newport paper Coach Crawford has resigned at Cocke County.
  18. Morristown East is extremely big, fast, and athletic on defense. They are very physical and very well coached. They are Catholic were the 2 best defenses we (Mo. West) played this year IMHO. On offense they have a lot of speed and and a tough, inside runner at fullback (#26 Hodge). I expect East to have a very good chance to win this game.
  19. Congratulations to the Admirals and Coach Courtney. There is a not a better man in coaching. If Andre Sterling doesn't win Mr. Football, then they need to quit having the award. What a player. I can't believe that a "big name" school hasn't offered him yet.
  20. Greeneville by as many as they want....
  21. Congraulations to Greeneville on the win.
  22. I didn't know Coach Pickett, but this hits very close to home for me personally. I am a cancer survivor and the son of a Coach. I can't imagine how his son and family are feeling. My heartfelt condolences and prayers go out to the family and the entire community. May the peace and grace of The Lord Jesus Christ be with them all.
  23. http://citizentribune.com/news/sports.asp?idcategory=2 I hope the link comes through. For you Greeneville fans there is a very funny (Lou Holtzesque) quote from Coach McCurry in there.
  24. My 2 cents on this subject. I think every team that has fans posting on CoachT has positive people that try to support their team and show respect towards other teams and their players. I also think that they also have people who make mean-spirited, rude, outlandish statements about other people's players and coaches (and sometimes their own) that are out of line. However, IMHO, this is just a reflection of society. It would be great if people would realize that High School football is about more than wins and losses. That it should be about teaching young men great life lessons (teamwork, sacrifice, respect, etc) that will last long beyond their playing days. However, we don't live in fantasy land, this is the real world. I guess we should all just try to take the good statements and posters from these boards and focus on them and not let the other stuff drag us down. Back to the game, the Trojans have been fortunate to have some success against Greeneville lately. However, the past will not help us one iota Friday night. I think that the players and coaches realize that we will have to play our best to have a chance to win this Friday. Good luck to both teams. I hope it is a hard fought game that is injury free.
