  1. Coach Lauderdale, Where are most of the problems and arguments coming from? You know I have always felt "Cream will rise to the Top". I feel there comes a point in any seeding meeting that people are always trying to get the edge regardless who is really the best. How many seeds do you guys have? Honestly in Region IV we have not had any major problems in years. We have even voted or even flipped a coin. Our most major problems have been when A beats B and B beats C, but C beat A
  2. I would just like to say that the officiating was fine. Kenny Mara is one of the top 3 officials in the nation. He has officitated the NCAA Tournament for many, many years. He is very compitent and is as smooth on the mat as anyone. I have Officiated and I am going to tell you that "I hate it". I have my Wrestlers Officiate our Challenge Matches just so they can get an understanding of just how tough it can be. Mistakes are going to happen, it's part of athletics and as Coaches and Wrestlers we can not allow this to be an excuse for Failure. We lost a very close match to McCallie but had plenty of opportunities to win. I just want everyone from Soddy Daisy to understand that we DO NOT BLAME Officials for our lack of success in any manner. Honestly try Officiating some time and I do believe that you will be a lot more understanding. Steve Henry
  3. I think these may be a little easier directions for you! You will be coming in on I-24 take I-27 North and go through downtown Chattanooga. Stay on 27 till you come to the 2nd Soddy Daisy Exit (Soddy Daisy/Old Hixson Pke) Turn left and go to the Flashing Red Light Turn left and go to the top of the hill Wrestling Arena is on your left *If you have any trouble the # for the Arena is (423) 332-8839 Steve Henry
  4. The Soddy Daisy Invitational will take place at the Soddy Daisy Wrestling Arena, not at the High School. This tournament is a no break run straight through as fast as you can tournament. We will Wrestle the Finals before Consolations to save time. We try to be a FAN Friendly Tournament! Wrestling Parents and Fans are the ones that have to sit in a gym for hours and hours weekend after weekend. They pay enormous prices to watch their favorite teams compete. We try and make this a tournament that will give great competition and get done early enough that people from out of town can get home safely and at a decent time! Our belief is that it is all practice till Febuary anyway, so why spend so much time on a parade of champions and all that stuff. I will try and keep you posted or have someone do it for me. Thanks for your interest. Steve Henry
  5. Bill, We at Soddy Daisy wish your son and your family all the best! I realize the seriousness of the situation. My heart goes out to you. Stay strong and give Stevie our best. Steve Henry

  7. Johnny, I admire the idea and fully understand why everyone would want to see something of this magnitude, but there are some things to consider. 1. To address the hopes of starting the finals @2:00 and having a Dual @ 4:00. DI Wrestlers would have just completed 3 days of competition along with the DII Wrestlers competing for 2. From a physical and emotional perspective it is not practicle and we all know it is not going to happen. 2. Coaches and Athletes are working to PEAK at the right time just for this tournament and to go again the next weekend is going to be tough. Remember how exhausting this tournament really is and how it takes days to just recover and heal up. The Wrestlers will be battered and physically exhausted after this tournament and to try and prepare for even a more intense situation the following weekend is asking a little much. Imagine an NCAA DI Champion having to prepare the very next week for a tournament w/ the other Divisional Champions. Do you honestly think they would be ready for that? I feel for this event to even have a chance, it would need to be held at a later date. 3. I am all for ONE Tournament, but it's not going to happen! This is a "Dead Dog" topic going no where. 4. This is a great idea, I just don't know where it can fit in. You really are impressive! I love the way you are constantly working to develope our sport. Not by draining it, but always trying to find a way to give something back. Good for You! Steve Henry
  8. I vote. Steve Henry "Soddy Daisy" I have no idea who else does, and have no problem with anyone knowing that I do.

  10. hey RMC any chance we can get Nick and Lane together this year? or are they going to have to wait until high school nationals. will you guys be at McEachern for the Duals Jan. 3rd? hope so! that may be our chance to let these two have a rematch and see if things may be a little different. what do you think?
  11. Soddy Daisy has 47 Wrestlers on their team this year and that is 9-12.
  12. This is indeed a nightmare for any Family, Coach, School and Program. We are with very heavy hearts as our thoughts and prayers are sent out to all concerned. No words can express what grief must be felt. Let me say that the "Wrestling Family" in Tennessee, are here for you and feel your pain. Soddy Daisy Wrestling
  13. Just a question. What other 5 matches are you talking about? Name them!
  14. RBWrestler, you guys are starting a "New Tradition" @ RB this year! You all are going to be the Big Surprise in your Region. Your Coach is doing an outstanding job! and all of you will benefit from it. It's exciting to see you guys so Fired Up and its great for the Region and Chattanooga Wrestling.

  17. I faxed the paper a schedule and times for everything taking place in the tournament. They had all the information to cover it and chose not to. I guess the final 4 needed more coverage.
  18. Not happening! Steve Henry
  19. shane has to work alot , and will not be able to attend. The gym will become open to wrestlers once track season is over.
  20. Gentlemen, Scheduling ur matches should be a process of Wrestling everyone in your District. Now, what Tournaments are going to improve our Team and Individuals the best. If I must see people from our Region that is not in our District, surely we might see them at a Tournament or schedule a Quad or Triangular Match to solve the situation and save a date. Coach Gonyea is interested in the sport and is doing a lot of thinking about this and that which directly involves him and his team. Good Job! The answers are out there and if you continue to seek for them and try to find more ways for you and your team to be successful, then you are doing "YOUR" Job Sir. I commend you for your energy and persistance with no fear of what others think. You are a Winner and You will do much good for our Sport. Steve Henry
  21. What michael is about 110 and only thinks about his self and is not able to play varsity basketball. Don't get me wrong he is a good player but I think he has a big head because of his middle school days of when his dad was the coach. Michael complains about playing time but when he goes in the game he makes turn overs.
  22. You are right on the money!!!!! They are both great guys that love to Wrestle and in no way feel any animosity towards each other. They are Competitive in the sport they love and are always looking for a workout partner that will push them to be the best they can be. Jordan takes a lot of abuse and I can't quite figure out why. The guy is as hard of worker as there is out there. He is a Gentleman as well as being a Class Act. I have NEVER heard him Bad Mouth a single competitor. Steve Henry
