All is well in Milan. We had a rough season because of injuries and a string of bad luck. Anything your hearing is just rumors from people that have nothing better to do with their time. And there may be people that come on this forum and claim differently but I can assure everyone Diffee is the man going forward. Everyone supports him from the top down. Yes there are some people in the community that are upset by a bad year but the ship is headed in the right direction and that’s all that matters.

    or maybe not ;-)

Not the first time Westview had a star qb.  Martin High School (3 yrs.) and the new Westview (1 yr.) compiled a 40 - 0 record during the seasons of 1967 - 1970 averaging 34.4 points per game. QB signed with an SEC school. Anybody witness that ?

Don't know who the QB was but I know who ended the streak..... ;-)

I don’t think his age is the same issue as it is for Ty. He is closer to the age of his peers.

What is y'alls hangup with age? I would encourage any young couple with a son to hold back starting them in school an extra year. Not just from an athletic standpoint but academics and an emotional and physical maturity standpoint. We did with ours and it was the best decision to make. Girls, it's not a big deal to most but boys need that, especially if their birthday is from summer to fall.

Curious as to whether your numbers were rosters at the beginning of the season or current player numbers.  We all know the grind of a 10 game season wears the boys down and you lose some to season-ending injuries. And of these numbers, which schools have the depth, talent, and luxury to only play defense or offense.  Which ones rely on players on both sides of the ball?  South Pitt comes to mind with their athletes, but you know that's gotta wear them down in the fourth quarter.  Luckily for SP, they are usually playing with a running clock and can sub in the little ones for extra playing time and experience so their starters don't usually see the 4th quarter.

These are the numbers submitted to TSSAA for Game Program rosters...... Not sure what each team injury status is, but I do know of that number listed for Peabody there are 2 on the list that havn't  played a down this season due to preseason injury.

  5. Just gonna throw this in the conversation, doesn't add to or take away from any of it but it's worth looking at IMO..... Peabody has been trashed by a lot of people here and on social media about their dropping down to 1A this season.... We all know classification is based on enrollment and Peabody DOES fall into 1A numbers there, albeit near the top.  The numbers I look at this time of the year for those whiney lil ones who cried about Peabody moving down and picking on these poor 1A teams are the roster sizes of the teams left... Here you go from the Final 8 in Class 1A:

    Cloudland-28

    Lake Co.- 28

    Coalfield- 36

    McKenzie- 44

    Peabody- 47

    So. Pittsburg-50

    Fayetteville- 53

    Gordonsville-61

And from two of the more vocal fan bases about Peabody moving down, West Carroll and Cornersville, their rosters were 43 and 46 players respectively,  WC with 3 less than Peabody who ended their season and  C'ville with 2 more than the Rebel team that sent them home.....

Congrats to all of these teams on your outstanding seasons, should be some great football the next 3 weekends, safe travels for all of the fans, with no injuries for any players, and lifetime of memories for everyone involved..... oh yeah BTW, ROLL TIDE

  6. Nobody talking about the past 2 Quarterfinal games (Fairley and McKenzie) for Peabody, scratching and clawing to get them to OT before they could pull them out in the end..... Will this 3rd round game be the same? I don't think so, Peabody by 4 scores..

Has anybody ever wondered how the defending 1a champs, ended up in the west bracket?? And how the defending 2a champs ended up with a cake walk?? Nobody from the west plays east, but the two or three best teams from east play in west? Think about this folks?? TSSAA home cooking smells like to me?? Just a thought??

I am curious to see how MAHS looks as far as stamina. Something that Huntingdon does well is wear other teams down. The relentless blocking coming at you is hard to take play after play. I noticed Mitchell players with their hands on their hips through the first drive of the game was telling. After the first TD of the game a Mitchell player, who was going to be the kid catching the return, was laying down beside the end zone. The ref had to actually tell him to get up because the kickoff was about to happen. He wasn’t hurt, just worn out. On the first drive of the game!!

In your 3rd sentence you misspelled holding, (relentless holding).. ;-)

Milan has the Play off wins of any team in West Tennessee. I believe they are right at 90. They also are tied for the most gold ball with four and have the most championship game appearances at 10. No they do not have the most success over the last decade but I think in total program history they are the best in West Tennessee. JMO.

As much as it pains me, i agree with your opinion on them being at the top of the list.... I wasn't trying to say they shouldn't be there, only trying to show Peabody belongs on the list...

This thread seems so offseason.... We are in the playoffs. We have like 8 months coming up to discuss trivial crap. come on now guys...

It's Round 1 week with not many games that will be worth discussion in the area.... I think it's a good topic for this time of the year... Besides, some opinions may change depending on what happens in these playoffs you speak of.....  Just cause SGC isnt in it doesn't mean it isnt conversation worthy.... ;-)

  11. Just an FYI, while Milan still leads the series against Peabody, by a very slim margin now, due to the last 8 years Peabody winning 6 of them, during one stretch of the series Peabody won 19 consecutive games over the Dawgs...

BUT, Can't argue with the championship history that Milan has...

Maybe some day y’all can get a gold one. Lol!

You been under a rock the past 3 years?     I cant argue with 4 of the original 5 listed the order can be manipulated as to whoever is making their case and why but I cant put Henry Co. in the Top 5 though.. Not because they havn't had success but I look at a key word being "historical", compared to these other programs and the years they have been playing, the Patriots are just mere pups..... Peabody, 101 this year and Milan 100..... Not sure how long these others have been playing but Lake Co. may still be wet behind the ears compared to these others too.

  13. If these 2 teams were even I would ask whether there would be SW officials or NW officials... I assure you no team who uses NW will get a fair shake from SW officials at Huntingdon... But these teams are not close in talent IMO, Huntingdon by a lot.

I'd agree with you about Halls.A cold, rainy windy night. Both teams had trouble holding onto the ball.A lot of LC problems, I'm going to catch some flack,is play calling.Clock management.Maybe he's waiting till playoffs. But have an all state receiver that has maybe 1 to 2 passes thrown his way.I know they didn't need it againt Fulton Co but if LC isn't going to open things up,then they will not look as good against a Halls type team.

Fair enough... my next question is, ya'll got that grass mowed yet?  ;-)

Didn't see Middle College listed unless I over looked it.Plus Gleason being ranked above  Lake Co with Lake Co playing Haywood and Trenton and Union City. What a joke.

It's not who you play, it's the results of who you played,  Gleason would lose to those teams you mentioned also...... No doubt you guys are probably better than Gleason but if you only scored 8 points in the 1st half against Halls, you're not as good as you want to think you are..... You've got 5 guys that could play for any 1A or 2A team in the area, after that your depth is going to be an issue...

  16. Dont read too much into Peabodys numbers...

In their 8 games starters have played 4 qtrs. in 3 of those games. Two games with 6 minute quarters and running clock by coaches agreement after the half and 4 games that starters were out at halftime.....   One of those games with the short quarters and running clock, the Peabody offense never even touched the field in the 2nd half,  kickoff was returned for a score and the opponent kept the ball the entire 2nd half, including running the clock during timeouts, also in that game we deferred our 2nd half of option of receiving kickoff to kicking off to them again...

  17. Congratulations to the Mustangs and the Mustang fans here.. You've got a Heck of a team over there now and for the future.. A deserved win tonight and best wishes going forward to the playoffs...

While this one's stings we knew a day would come when someone outplayed us and that happened tonight. We couldn't be more proud of our Tide and the tremendous accomplishment the past 4 seasons and the light that has been shining bright on our program, our school, our community and all of the tremendous young men who have done the work and made it happen.... Thank you Peabody Golden Tide Football!!!
