  1. Sounds like someone is outsmarting everyone else since it is a LEGAL ball!! I wonder if Central's coaches figured that out since, as you keep harping, they are not very bright! /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> And by the way, what "scouts" have you talked to? Oh and another thing, he kicks a leather ball most of the time anyway on kickoffs, plus All punts, extra points and field goals are with the regular game ball!! As usual, you have no clue!
  2. Us Central fans are very glad we have Coach Derrick. Football is a game of emotion and it is nice to have someone finally, that get the kids fired up to play at a high level each week. And by the way, there was plenty of trash talking from the Polk kids too, whether you want to believe it or not, it happens. We are not embarrassed or worried about what anyone thinks about our coach or team, they are pretty good kids and this same bunch of people were very instrumental in raising the money for the Foster family. What is uncalled for is the personal shots directed at Coach Derrick by some of the Polk faithful, we really don't care what you think and I find it actually laughable that it drives you so crazy about what happens at Central!
  3. Jamin Godfrey, McMinn Central vs Meigs Co. this year, 47 yds. He has hit from 55 in practice from snap and hold.
  4. This is one thread I wish was shut down because Mr. Rayl is just a Jr and is in the learning mode right now and no one can project where he will be next year at all. But.... here is what I have seen and why I think he will be a D-1 QB somewhere: My understanding is he will concentrate on the position from here on out instead of playing Basketball and baseball. His work ethic and comprehension of the game is very good now that he is learning from a QB coach. Since he arrived he has gone from a "find someone open" QB to a learning how to read where rush is coming from, and how to read coverages and keys in the defensive backfield QB. He throws a great ball to catch, you don't have to have a cannon to be effective, anywhere. Chad Pennington has done quite well for a supposedly weak arm. He has good size and has pocket presense along with pretty good feet when he has to scramble. I for one am looking forward to seeing him continue his development under Coach Derrick. He may not play SEC but he definitely has an upside with his tallent.
  5. Thoughts and prayers from the McMinn Central folks.
  6. Please ignore this guy, even we think he is classless!! He has bashed our program as much an anyone. He is not a friend of the Chargers!! /roflolk.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflolk:" border="0" alt="roflolk.gif" /> /mad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="mad.gif" />
  7. It seems like you guys keep referring to the record of your Juniors in the little league program. I wouldn't base a lot of your expectations on that record because the competition in SETAC that you play is really not that good. Englewood is usually the only competition those kids have and that is just a few of the kids they face later on when they play Central in high school. Tellico and Rogers Creek are simply not who you want to measure success by. Not meant to flame here, just making a point on having realistic expectations.
  8. Come on you folks, be humble and show some respect for Sequoyah. Those kids have been through a lot and I for one really admire these kids for coming together, regrouping and playing competitive football. See you in Madisonville friday night Chiefs!
  9. Jamin Godfrey is the kicker, only a Jr. and has only been kicking a football since spring practice. I know it kills some of you out there in cyber-land, but Central has more than one player that is going to get a "look" from college coaches. D-1 coaches from the SEC don't just show up as they are passing through a town to see prospects. And yes, they will come see juniors! Why do you think most of the SEC teams already have commits around 15 to 20 each for this years recruiting class? If you are a junior, you better be making the effort on friday nights, you never know who is watching!! If You Build It, They WILL Come!!!
  10. Good one Yee Haw, suttle with just a hint of sarcasm! You are really trying to reform this year. Tell Cody good luck tonight!
  11. You are correct that the victories so far are not against world beaters, although Loudon did drill a 1-0 Lenoir City team last week and Oliver Springs was 1 - 0 coming into the game last week. Also the scrimmage schedule may be paying off because coaches and spectators from Alcoa, Coffee Co, Red Bank and So. Pittsburg were very complimentary of the team's effort and abilities. Still there is a lot of football to be played and Coach D stresses that every day to the young Chargers. Focus on each opponent one at a time and the long range goals can be reached. That is what drives the team this year.
  12. Hey cabinman, thanks for starting another blog. Let's see if we can keep this about the game and not get another one shut down! Now for the game: Special teams ----- in favor big for the Chargers. It means a lot having teams start on their 20 most every kickoff. Poor coverage really kept Meigs in the game last year. Speed----- again in favor of Central. There is a lot of speed on both sides of the ball. Emotion---- Got to give this one to Meigs, they have something to prove and they will be ready to go. Not sure how Central will handle the game with two blow outs before this game. Central has to keep focused on their long range goals by not overlooking anyone on this schedule. I think the Vols needed to take this advice. If you let someone hang around long enough until they get happy, Look out, anything can happen!!
  13. Sure didn't hurt fan support at McMinn last night! They had a very good crowd on both sides of the field. Our game in Loudon last week was also well attended, how was it at Bledsoe?
  14. Agree on this post, I have a lot of respect for Coach Davis and what he does at Polk. I wish them well this year. Central has to stay focused each and every week and continue to get better. They are nowhere near where they can be on offense right now, but still pretty good. Defense may be the best part of this team. Good luck this year pchs!
  15. If Coach D. decides to throw it around some this week, the Chargers will score early and often. Last week he worked on the ground game or it could have gotten ugly at Loudon. Still work to be done before the region schedule. Go Chargers!! /hungry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":hungry:" border="0" alt="hungry.gif" />
  16. I will vote for "Coaching". In our region, there is a school that has had a history of very average tallent that has consistantly been very competitive because they were coached up and played with great effort on every play. I have also seen a couple of schools that have had superior tallent that played below their abilities most of the time and have not been successful. (Names withheld to keep from upsetting anyone!)
  17. You are correct, if I remember right in the Red Bank scrimmage there were only 3 Sr. on the starting Def. and one of them left after a series to attend church. On offense there were also 3 seniors starting.
  18. Some of our neighbors have alluded to that statement. They have a hard time believing that kids actually want to play football at Central now. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  19. Most of the Blue faithful know how to act. We have been "there" in basketball a bunch and baseball couple of times. It is a very few that causes problems. But I would like to mention one thing about the tallent pool, there are about 22 juniors that might not think the pool is going to dry up next year.
  20. Thanks Zone for putting this link up on the board. Kinda puts to rest the "recruiting" accusations at Central.
  21. try www.timesfreepress.com then click on sports/preps that should get you there!
  22. You go girl!! I can assure you Trish, the real Charger Nation is very glad Zac chose to be a Charger. For everyone that wants to know how this kid thinks, just read the Prep Extra story in todays Chatt. Times/Free Press and you will get the REAL STORY on Zac's move and his work ethic. You will also se what kind of kid and Team player Jackson has become. Go Blue!
  23. Uh, Jackson hasn't played a snap so far this fall. The other QB playing is Calvin Walker, a soph. Coach D. is trying to get him as many snaps as possible right now to gain some confidence.
  24. Well said OP, btw how is the kid that got hurt in the Polk scrimmage? What position did he play?
